This is reminding me of the game in 2007 I went to when we played Buffalo at home.

8-0 Browns. It was a terrible game but the tailgating at 7AM was fun!

I took my son to the Bills game in 2007. It was wild. We were walking up the incline leaving the main entrance towards our gate. The incline faced the lake. The wind was blowing so hard and a hard snow was blowing horizontally in our faces. We had to separate and put our heads down to make it up the hill. There were people being driven backwards by the wind. I did not see them because you had to close your eyes against the stinging snow, but I felt 3 different people ram into my shoulder as I was trying to reach our gate. My son said the same thing happened to him.

My season tix were in section 534 at that time. There were the steel shields at the top of the upper deck and it sounded like a locomotive as the wind came crashing in off the lake. I went down to get another beer and use the head at one point, and I grabbed both railings as I headed down into the concourse. I could feel the wind trying to lift me, so I threw my legs back and sure enough, the wind lifted me and I was floating horizontally at the top of the stairs. That was so freaking cool.

The game was great. Our offensive linemen and DA came out in short sleeves. We definitely handled the weather better than they did. We still talk about that game at different family gatherings. It was painful at times w/the wind, but it was also one of the most memorable games I ever attended. The Jets playoff game was another when we came back after Gastinou roughed Bernie. The Rudd game was another, but for an entirely different reason.

I was there as well, Tailgating in the muni that morning it was rainy off and on.

As everyone started to get ready to head into the stadium it started to cool down and get windy.

I also was in 534, the wind was so bad we were walking backwards so we could breath.

Got to the seats and was lmao watching peoples hats blowing down the isle ways from the wind

Blowing their hats off.

A memory I wont forget ! yet

I can't tell you what I did 10 minutes ago, lol

A base layer with 3 sweats and a windbreaker should yake care of the upper. Get some gel foot warmers. As long as your feet stay warm, life is good. Aslo a scarf. A valuable addition to any cold weather game. Great for covering your face and ears. Think a babushka wrap to cover your head, ears, and be able to pull up over your nose. Under those hoods on the sweats you are good.

I know it is going to be a snow event. If it also going to be all that cold? It can snow before i consider it all that cold.

Yep. As I said, if you stay warm there, everything else is manageable. If your feet go, nothing else will feel good.

I think it's pretty wild that we all sat in 534 at some point. I upgraded to another section later on, but 534 was good because we were right on the aisle and almost exactly at the 50 yd. line. Great field views. Obviously, the atmosphere up there could not match the lower bowl.

Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Weather - 11/17/22 04:58 PM
NFL could move Browns-Bills game out of Buffalo due to epic snowstorm: Here's what the league is considering

Current forecast calls for up to four feet of lake-effect snow

With an epic snowstorm getting ready to hit Buffalo, there's a chance that the NFL could be forced to move this Sunday's game between the Browns and Bills.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones has reported that the league has been "monitoring the weather" and is "in communication with both teams" about possibly relocating the game. If the game has to be moved, the top option right now appears to be Detroit, alhtough Jones did note that the NFL would prefer not to move the game.

One reason the league would prefer to keep the game in Buffalo is because the Bills are working on a such a tight schedule. After their Week 10 game against the Browns, the Bills have to turn around and play a Thanksgiving game against the Lions in Detroit. With the Bills playing just four days later, that means moving the Browns game back to Monday or Tuesday just isn't an option. That's a contingency the league has used before, including back in 2014 when a Jets-Bills game was moved from Sunday to Monday due to a similar snow event.

One problem with moving the game to Detroit is that the Bills would lose their home-field advantage against the Browns as Cleveland is only a 2.5 hour drive from Detroit. On the other hand though, the Bills would get a slight benefit because they wouldn't have to travel for their Thanksgiving game. According to Cleveland.com, the NFL is also considering several other locations for the game (Stadiums in Philadelphia, Washington and Carolina are all available if the league doesn't want to move Bills-Browns so close to Cleveland).

No matter what the NFL does, the league will likely make a decision about the game at some point in the next 24 hours. Jones notes that a decision could come as early as Thursday or the league could hold off until Friday.

It won't be surprising if the NFL waits until Friday to make a decision because that will give the league 24 more hours to track the weather. As things currently stand, the National Weather Service has a snow advisory that will be in place for the Buffalo area until 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, which just happens to be the exact kickoff time of the game. The current forecast is calling for two to four feet of lake-effect snow.

The snow is expected to be done falling by late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, which might be one reason why the NFL feels that playing the game in Buffalo is still possible.

Of course, even if the snow is still falling, that doesn't mean the game will get moved. Although the Jets-Bills game was relocated to Detroit in 2014, the NFL won't always move a game just because there's heavy snow. Back in 2017, the league decided to keep a Colts-Bills game in Buffalo despite the fact that city was basically being hit by a blizzard.

If the Browns-Bills game stays in Buffalo, we could see a similar situation playing out on Sunday.

Really sucks for Eve. Don't know if Saint will make the adjustment. He'll be in PA the night before... Detroit would add about 90 minutes to his trip, about 4 hours drive.

Sorry guys.

Wonder if a bunch of Bills tix holders will sell to Browns fans? Buffalo fans would be trying to escape Siberia on a 4.5 hour trip. Browns should be well-represented.

The last time, 2014, when a Bills game was moved to Detroit, the tickets were free.

...But I'm not even excited to watch the current crapshow that will be played 45m from my house.
Posted By: Versatile Dog Re: Weather - 11/17/22 11:38 PM
Sorry to hear this news for Eve, Saint, and anyone else who was making travel plans to attend the game. Same thing happened to my daughter and son-in-law last year. They flew up to watch the Browns/Raiders game that got moved to Monday. They own a business and had to be back in SC and could not attend the Monday game. The ticket company screwed them on their refund. My daughter went nuts about it on Social Media. LOL

The other thing that sucks besides for folks like Eve and Saint is that playing in a dome and not having to play in the snow actually benefits Buffalo and negates whatever advantage we had w/our running game. It's just one of those years.

If one person got that
Posted By: SaintDawg Re: Weather - 11/18/22 01:27 AM
Ok.. Here's how it's shaking out.. If you bought from the Bills or ticketbastard, they refund you.. if you bought from anyone else, you take it up with them. So.. I have to get refunded by SeatGeek and thats it.

Now then, in order to go.. I have to wait until the Bills STH get first crack at the seats at Ford.. then the general public bc this is considered a Bills Home game.

Tickets on sale to Bills STH at 2 pm tomorrow.. I'm told that it possible it may be first come first serve and that it may be cheaper than normal.

I intend to try to get the tickets. Detroit is a much easier drive and no white stuff

Those with tickets to the game in Orchard Park will have their money reimbursed. New presale tickets for the game in Detroit will go on sale at 2 p.m. ET for a cheaper price than normal game tickets with Bills season-ticket holders and fans getting first access.

I don't think many are planning to die in the next 72 hours, well, less now.
(this weeks game is clearly the subject of the first sentence.)
Posted By: Ballpeen Re: Weather - 11/18/22 10:15 AM
Nice to see you still hope to go. Like you said, a shorther drive to boot.

That is why I have always gone through Ticketmaster....because they are officially linked to the NFL.

In th recent fan survey they asked about ticket selling. I told them it might be nice to partner with others. I am not sure ticketmaster is the best platform to sell tickets.

It would be interesting to see if Ticketmaster turns more resale tickets than SeatGeek, StubHUb etc.

Good luck with seatgeek. I will be interested to hear how easy or not it was to get a refund. Geek or even ticketmaster, if they pay the original seller soon after the ticket transfer, I can see how they aren't going to end up stuck with a ticket. I am not sure how they would get money back from the original seller. At least Ticketmaster can charge your account when you buy your next season tickets.

I did notice the flights to/from Detroit are still operating. Get on the the plane, Bills.

Bills plan to fly to Detroit on Saturday afternoon; what if they can’t get to the airport?

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...on-what-if-they-cant-get-to-the-airport/

Posted by Mike Florio on November 18, 2022, 4:29 PM EST

The Bills will play their home game in Detroit on Sunday. If they can get there.

One of the strangest aspects of the snowstorm that prompted the NFL to move the game out of Buffalo is that the Bills didn’t get out while they easily could. They instead plan to fly to Detroit on Saturday afternoon.

As noted by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Bills strongly believe they’ll be able to fly out of Buffalo. The question becomes getting everyone to the airport.

The team couldn’t practice on Friday because they couldn’t get to the team’s indoor practice facility. If they can’t get everyone to the airport on Saturday, then what?

Same-day travel isn’t ideal, but it has happened. In 2020, the Steelers traveled to Buffalo on Sunday morning for a Sunday night game. In 2012, the Steelers made a same-day trip to and from New Jersey for a game against the Giants, given that local hotels were lodging those affected by a hurricane.

What if the Bills can’t get out on Sunday morning? The game could be delayed from 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, in theory. While it’s not unprecedented for a team to play on Sunday night and then, basically, on Thanksgiving (the Bears did it in 2018), it’s not ideal.

Then again, nothing about this situation is ideal. And it will be far from ideal if, come Saturday, multiple players and/or coaches can’t get to the airport because of the massive amount of now that continues to fall in the area.

Even if they manage to get to Detroit on Saturday, the disruption to the routine resulting from the snowstorm will make it much more difficult for the Bills than if it was a normal week.
