It's a win I didn't think we would get! Color me happy.
Hats off to Jacoby. Led the team down for the tie, and for the win. Defense actually played well. Feels good to win
Thank you Jacoby! Happy his last game with us is a thrilling win against Brady!
Game balls to everyone! Total team win!
It's a win I didn't think we would get! Color me happy.
Me too OCD. I'm glad we won this one, especially for JB since this may very well be his last game for some time.
Amazing finish... we looked like crap a lot of the middle of the game... defense kept us in it though until our offense woke up late in the game
Good game... Jacoby with some key plays... Njoku with a good game... Chubb is a stud... Garrett with some big plays late in the game...
We played a complete game! Where has this been all season?
Nice job by Myles, making plays when they counted. Emerson held Evans in check, kid is going to be real good.
How much of the game did Clowney play? I didn't hear his name mentioned until near the end of the 3rd qtr.....
Team Win - Offense Defense Special teams:
Nick Chubb - 26 ATT. 116 YDS. 1 TD - 4-0 With 20+ Carries
Amari Cooper - 7 REC. 94 YDS
David NJOKU - 5 REC. 29YDS. 1 TD Amazing Catch
Jacoby Brissett - J. Brissett 23/37 COMP/ATT. 210 YDS. 1 TD 1 INT. Thanks Jacoby
Myles Garrett - 1.5 Sacks A Huge One In OT
I didn't think we would win. We followed the same script until the end for a change!! The win feels great. Some momentum for DW's return and the last 6 games!!!!
Also, the ST played well. I like Ford on kickoff returns and DPJ did good work on PR. I think York lost his footing on that ugly FG miss
If Chubb doesn't slip on that one run, he would have been gone
With all we've been through this season the one thing I've noticed is this team has not given up. I noticed a lot of fight today even when things started to look bleak. That says something about our HC too!! Could it be the guys like playing for KS?
A win feels great but......
4-7
For one thing.. Jacoby Brissett has played well above what a backup can do. Second, hopefully the team can use this win as a jump start on how to play as a team. OF course, there are things to cleanup, but this was a good win
Thank you Jacoby! Happy his last game with us is a thrilling win against Brady!
Game balls to everyone! Total team win!
I really appreciate Jacoby and everything he did for us. Is he perfect? Of course not, he's a back up but probably one of the better backups in the league.
He did enough to have us sitting at 6-5 or 5-6 at the very least. It's very unfortunate that Joe Woods and his defense couldn't follow through on their end or we would be sitting in a very good spot.
Jacoby is a great guy with a great attitude and I would love to keep him on the roster, but at the same time I hope he did enough to get him a starting gig somewhere next year. He deserves it, he is a class act.
Myles and Njoku won this game.
Reading the board while at work trying to keep up on the game is something
I will never do again !!! LOL
It was like Tampa had 30 points on the Browns and here
The Browns win !!
YES !!!
Go Browns !!!
A win feels great but......
4-7
Even getting to 4 and zeven. even if you win out, and with the jaguarz beating the ravenz today...
the bezt way to get to 2nd place in the div, if ten and seven,
is the Ravenz have to loze to either
the Broncoz
steelerz
Atlanta or at the steelerz
then, you win out and Cincy beatz the Ravenz week I8, you end up in 2nd in the afc north ten and zeven, ravenz ten and zeven
you 5 and I in the div
them 4 and 2 in the div. you'd have to win out.
and get all that help
Myles and Njoku won this game.
Emerson did his part as well, he had Evans quite frustrated the entire game.
Agreed. Emerson is turning out to be quite a draft pick!!!!!
Real deals don't make routine drops.
Agreed. Emerson is turning out to be quite a draft pick!!!!!
He's probably the Browns best corner.
J/c
Nice to see a hard won game and all round effort.
Mathematically still have a shot.... š«¤ Not sure how real it is but it beats the alternative.
Real deals don't make routine drops.
Kelce has had some routine drops over the last couple of years. Is he not the real deal?
- A historically rare Browns 4th quarter comeback win.
- Happy for Brissett that he got to walk off the field a winner in his final start for the Browns barring an injury.
- Martin Emerson Jr had himself a nice game.
- Myles Garrett made a big time play.
- Cooper redeemed himself.
- Cade York attempting FGs has become a wild experience.
- Chubb shouldered a load today.
- Nice returns from DPJ and Ford.
- Woods and Priefer are off the hook for another week.
- The refs were trash today.
- J-Dubs sing-a-long song for the crowd was Bohemian Rhapsody.
- Gameball: Anthony Schwartz. Playmaker extraordinaire! Also, had a nice tackle taking down the DB on his route.
- Favorite game moment: Jimmy Haslam pacing like a maniac on the sidelines during OT and then lined up like a ref on the goal line with his hands in the air signaling a TD when Chubb score.
- Six more opportunities on the schedule.
Real deals don't make routine drops.
Ok.
Real deals don't make routine drops.
Ok.
Real deals don't make routine drops.
Ok.
The most clutch catch we've had in recent years and I really don't think Njoku has had many routine drops this year? I know he has in the past but he's been fairly sure handed this year.
the game was pretty boring overall. (i'm ok with that)
Brisset did what he had to do to win.
We need to script the first 30-45 plays vs just the first drive and try to make adjustments after.
Garrett + Chubb + Emerson + Cooper + Juke + DPJ (special teams) + JOK + Ward had a good game.
Just an absurd catch in an absolutely crucial moment.
Belichek was right.
He's the best TE we've had since Newsome.
Hard fought win against a skilled team. Every success within this game was earned. Also, it's nice to have a win in that situation since it almost never happens for us.
NJoku sucks, donāt ya know? Cooper must suck, too, because he had a Browns-ian drop on fourth down in the fourth quarter.
Amari dropped an easy pass for a crucial first down. Njoku td catch was one of the best I have ever seen. Being the āreal dealā does not mean perfect. Hard to find those kind of guys. Njoku has been excellent this year.
If you look at any team, any team in the nfl, and go down their record, top to bottom, and the pointz that team scored each game
team pointz, in a win or loss or tie doesn't matter, but if you add up the number of timez
their team pointz reached twenty five pointz,
I can't remember if it iz 23, or 24, or twenty five, team pointz or greater in a given week,
the number of timez they did, will about e@ual their record in winz.
so the Brownz need to get a team that can score 2five pointz every week.
What iz up with the Brownz scary offense this year, in fact the pazt 4 yearz.
How about Jacoby with a beat-down block on the Schwartz TD?
And kudos to Schwartz for the TD run and the catch -and-run later in the game. He earned some props today, for as much as weāve bashed him.
Belichek was right.

The bar is so low.
And now we have people comparing him to Kelce.
Geez.
Next week will be a road game they must treat it like a playoff game.
the opponent will treat it like it iz a playoff game, and it will be the only thing that opponent will have to look on for their whole season.
Do not make the other team's whole season next week.
Just get your 25 points. Get at least 25 points,
No one compared NJoku to Kelce. No one.

Schwartz had a TD ?
That's great !
I'm going to have to watch the game
just got home from a 12 1/2 hour work day
I missed a lot
A few things:
- Njoku continues to impress. He helped in a big way
- Emerson continues to impress. He all but locked down Evans
- Jacoby is a true pro. Someone we should all admire
- Still worried about our kicking situation
- Ford is night and day our best KR
- Defense played their best game since Cincy
- Our OL was up against it today ā¦ TB has a really tough front. David and Vea are unreal
If we blame individuals for losses, then we have to praise them for victories. Kudos to Coach Stefanski, Coach Woods, and Myles for this awesome W.
That post-game speech was so inspiring.
Geez, I think the team would respond to that and paint drying the same way.
It reminds of them singing happy birthday to lumberg in office space.
And now we have people comparing him to Kelce.
Where was that ever said?
I re-ran this thread for an entire page, and never saw anything of the sort.

Serious quesrion (I had a really nasty, sparky response typed up that I deleted), how is that not comparing him to Kelce?

Saying that even the best make mistakes ā comparing someone to the best. It means everyone makes mistakes and a player of Njoku's talent shouldn't be expected to perform perfectly if even the best can't do it.

I laughed. Get nasty, rishuz!
It's just how some fans are.
I can't explain it.
Many, many years ago, I was invited to join a string quartet. The Bernie years. The violist was about 5 years older than me. We're all getting to know each other after a long rehearsal (coupla beers, casual talk). Browns come up in conversation, because Pat (our #1 violin) and I were friends from school, and she & I were CLE fans at BG during the Brian Sipe years.
Noah hated/didn't care about football, but his dad was a Browns Lifer. Here's what he said:
"My Sundays were dominated by my dad swearing at the screen. He was yelling at people with orange football helmets. I don't understand why he is this way..."
That line was so funny, I've remembered it to this day.
Fans come in all forms. I don't always understand each version. I'm just glad that I'm one of those versions who can enjoy a thrilling overtime win against Tom Brady- The Comeback King/GOAT- in a home game CLE traditionally loses. Browns fans got themselves a game worthy of giving thanks today.

It was seriously the Lumberg birthday scene from Office Space.
But you're not allowed to be negative on here. Apparently at 4-7, everything is back on track and Njoku is a great player. Not being as impressed wirh someone who has never had more than 650 yds and 4 tds in SIX seasons and still drops routine throws has brought out my fanclub.
But here, I'll give my positives to make the masses happy ...
---Defense played really well. I want to say that Emerson might be the best corner on the team but I think they were avoiding Ward.
--I like Emersons mentality. Seems like a dog and we need as many of those as possible.
--All I want to see is our best players make.plays when it matters most. That's what I want to see from Garrett, not the token sack on 2nd and 8 with ten minutes left in the 2nd quarter. He delivered on that today. The last sack was what great players do. It affects wins and losses. It helped the Browns win the game.
--Jacoby was really good all game long today.
--They tried to sell out to stop the run, but Chubb still got his. I want him to win the rushing title.
--The Njoku catch was spectacular.
--Feels good to win. Doesn't feel good to be 4-7.
Serious quesrion (I had a really nasty, sparky response typed up that I deleted), how is that not comparing him to Kelce?

Nah, I would never do that.
Offense was frustrating for most of the game. Its almost like Stef just calls plays based on situations, but doesn't ever seem to take into account the defenses weaknesses. Makes sense why it never seems like we 'adjust' to what defenses are doing. Winfield is out most of the 1st half, and never took advantage of it. Nassib is playing dline, and we aren't running toward him? The day Stef can add that component to his play calling, I think we can be a problem for a lot of teams.
Defense played well.. still frustrating to see no pressure from DTs, but overall the defense did a sound job.
Special Teams.. York gotta step it up. And I like DPJ at punt return and Ford at kick return. Works well.
Emerson is certainly a great surprise this year
It's just how some fans are.

This game followed the pattern of so many before it...
First 20 minutes: We look good, if we can get some stops we have a chance.
Middle 2.5 hours: WTF? Fire and cut everybody
Final 10 minutes: Maybe we can pull it out.
Emerson is certainly a great surprise this year
Was his last pass interference bs? I thought it was
Browns never make clutch plays, Njoku made a great one that shouldn't be downplayed.
Post-game thoughts, 1st and 10:
1. Emerson deserves to own Joe Hayden's #23. Played one helluva game today. Young Man is establishing his name on this roster.
2. CLE always wins when #24 has 20+ carries. His 20th carry in this game is evidence. Game changer. *see my sig, yo-*
3. #95 changed this game with 2 clutch sacks, at the exact right time. He produced precisely when he needed to.
4. Elec. power to my neighborhood crashed at the start of 3Q. Power to our house was restored at the start of Q4. I missed nothing. (Browns- WTF?)
5. #7 is everything CLE wanted/needed him to be. If we don't pick him up for at least another year, some smart team will snatch him up to potentially compete as starter.
6. This season's w/l record doesn't accurately describe what this team is. They are better than their record says they are.
7. #85 has steadily improved his game, and has earned his place on this team as a go-to asset/weapon. That catch in the endzone for the game's tying score was his 'coming out' party. He really can be that good, folks.
8. #2 is a steal of an offseason acquisition. DAL's loss is CLE's gain. Cooper is a major asset.
9. This team doesn't quit like previous Browns squads have. Today, that fighting spirit paid off in a game that other CLE teams would have phoned in after that last Tom Brady score.
10. Games/wins like this are what help to establish team culture. The culture of losing becomes established when teams routinely allow themselves to lose games like this. The culture of winning is established when teams routinely find ways to win games like this. This team found a way to win a game that they routinely used to lose. That's a potential culture-changer.
This bunch gutted out a must-win when they needed to. It was beautiful to see.
Looking forward to seeing what they might do in the weeks to come.
11 games into the season, and I still have hope.

A win feels great but......
4-7
Yeah, even if we win out we would need a lot of help.
I thought Emerson really got the better of Evans and that last DPI was pretty ticky tack
5. #7 is everything CLE wanted/needed him to be. If we don't pick him up for at least another year, some smart team will snatch
I agree, but in that comment lies the problem.
I think some teams(s) may look at Jacoby as a potential starter and will seek to pay him as such. I am not sure we will be able to keep him even though I think we would like to keep him. I also don't think Jacoby would want to stick here with zero chance at competing for the starting job.
At minimum Jacoby has earned the right to go somewhere to compete for the #1 position.
Jacoby signed here knowing the deal. He was given a chance to showcase his game. He passed the test and is now going to look to cash in, as he should.
We are probably going to stick with Dobbs and or Mond.
Basically agree with all your takes -- boiled down to it's essence, this game was what I was EXPECTING to see from this team all year with the one exception that Brissett has exceeded ALL expectations. AND in addition to exceeding the play on the field Brissett seems like an outstanding, classy, athlete you want your kids to look up to kind of guy. It's hard not to want him to land on his feet somewhere in the NFL and go on to earn a big fat paycheck and have more fun and lead another team like he has this team.
With that said - it begs the question, what the hell happened until this point. All year other than the Cinci game we have been out of sorts, played flat, been out coached, found ways to lose winnable games. I love the win. But it leaves me skeptical if the Tampa game is the real team or if we are going to see them come out and get punked in the next game or three? I guess we wait and see - but the same effort and togetherness we saw this game, of the entire team, has been absent for most of the season.

I guess for the negativity, homerism has to even the scales.. Was a good game yesterday against an AVERAGE team.. lets not pretend this is prime Brady on the Pats, this is a very mediocre team and coached by a very underperforming HC. I agree with a few things, the Chubb thing always infuriated me when we didn't get him atleast 20 touches. Garrett def. finally showed up big and made a game changing play.. that should be the norm if you want to be considered elite.. Garrett def. put his money where his mouth was. Brissett was decent, He's still a backup in the NFL. People are quick to forget all the game sealing Ints he's thrown this year. But JB is a decent backup and I think the league sees him as that. Maybe a bridge starter like Miami and CLE used him for. #6- You are always what your record says you are.. our record says we are a poorly coached team that struggles to play consisten for 4 quarters, the next 6 will also show us what kind of team we are. Njoku has been good this year for sure, and that last catch was the best one he's made. I think he will be elevated more as will the rest of the WR when watson gets going. I agree about Cooper, best WR we've had since the return. His route running is second to none. This team does quit, as evidenced by the 7 losses, and the constant players only meeting and the infighting and the calling people out in the media. This team still has a ton to prove as does the coaching staff.. A win against a average team with a 500 year old QB doesn't change that. What we do these next games will be what determines the culture. Hopefully this win motivates and invigorates the team and they start rolling, playing Houston next week helps. We should beat them pretty easily and start getting that winning feeling. And lets slow the role on the Emerson/Haden talk. Haden was very good.. Emerson has been quite bad at times this year. He has the physical tools. Compared to the rest of the secondary this year he looks good but they've just been that bad. If you actually go back and watch he was always a step behind Evans but Brady couldn't throw an accurate ball to save his life yesterday. But whatever helps Emerson self-motivate himself.. Sometimes it take something like this to give the kid some confidence.
Tampa might be an average team but the difference in the way the team played was stark. That's a big deal no matter what.
With that said - it begs the question, what the hell happened until this point. Yesterday was not a culture defining game. Consistently finishing above .500 and making the playoffs will change the culture.
This team still has a ton to prove and only 6 games to do so. We won't know anything about this team until next year I'm afraid. But what I'm most afraid of is they catch a little lightning in a bottle down the stretch and retain Woods. I've already accepted the chance they get rid of Stefanski is low, but no matter what they need a new DC.
I don't believe Woods has any chance to be here next year. We'll see. 3rd year DC with players talking about not knowing assignments, playing like poop and finger pointing. No, I don't believe he stays no matter what happens here on in. jmo
I've only posted a couple times in the 8 or 10 years I've been on the board, and I've nearly given up on the boys the last couple of years, but I gotta give Jacoby his due.
https://theathletic.com/3942643/2022/11/27/lloyd-jacoby-brissett-browns/
Nice to see a win against a QB that should have retired at the end of last year.
Is it me or does DPJ have trouble getting separation?
Brissettās throws seem to sail a lot. Reminds me of a pitcher who canāt get his breaking ball down.
j/c...
Browns move to 2-0 when a wild animal is in the stands. Also, 1-0 on a vandalized field.
We need to have random rodents and marsupials show up every game
Before yesterday, Tom Brady was 218-0 when holding a 7pt lead in the final 2 minutes of a game.
Hot damn. But to be fair that speaks to his team as well as himself. I wonder what the stats are when he trails by less than 7 with ball in hand in the last 2 minutes - I bet those stats are outrageously good too and to me would be more about Brady than Team (and D)
Yesterday it was the D that saved the O. For all the gushing in this thread, going 55 game minutes without scoring a TD is never good. Game ball to the D.
Nice win over the Bucs. The push for the playoffs is on! Hey, one can dream.
Should make the Skunk the mascot and put its image on the 50 yard line. The Cleveland Skunks - I like that...
1. ST were good this week. DPJ with punt returns, Ford on KR, Bolorquez (sp) huge punt in OT. Shankipotamus York never gives me the warm fuzzy, however.
2. D stood tall most of the game, especially late. Garrett and Emerson, in particular.
3. There was a Schwarz sighting - looked fast on that end around. Had not seen that before - must be the white shoes. Good catch and run later in the game as well.
4. Great to see KS stick with Chubb late in the game and run the ball - big time run at end of game to get in the red zone. Chubb was huge (lol) as usual.
5. Joke with his best catch of his career and on par with JJ's catch a few weeks ago.
6. Shout out to JB - did yourself proud.
j/c...
Conspiracy theory or some merit?
I've heard that, but like Burns, I don't see any evidence of that actually occurring.
I saw a lot of our players turn in what might have been their best game so far, this year. They proved to themselves that they can be as good as any team if they put out a winning effort and don't give up.
It was a fun game to watch.
I dont know antyhing about kicking, but if thatās the case the punter is much more expendable than the kicker
I'm not even sure it's something we would actually notice with our own eyes. Only York, Bojorquez and the coaching staff may truly know the answer. Interesting to consider nonetheless.
Here were comments from Jay Feely when Bojorquez was the holder for Bass in Buffalo.
There was confusion and perhaps some distasteful feelings when the Bills decided not to bring back punter Corey Bojorquez after his stellar season punting in 2020. The Bills signed from Dolphins punter Matt Haack who Bills fans had last seen trying desperately to tackle Isaiah McKenzie on a punt return in the 2020 regular season finale.
But the Bills made it clear that their decision wasnāt solely based on punting, but on another critical factor in Tyler Bassās production this season: holding.
Jay Feely made it clear that he felt Bassās early struggles as a rookie were in part due to Corey Bojorquezās inconsistent holding.
āA bad holder could make me miss every kick, and no one would know it. If he misses that spot by 2 inches, and heās 2 inches back, Iām gonna push the ball, if itās 2 inches forward, Iām gonna pull the ball.ā
Feely went into much more detail about the angles of the ball when it hits the ground, how the kicker see the laces and feels confident in the kick, how some kickers prefer the ball to be at an angle, where the holder should or shouldnāt be catching the ball, etc. But suffice it to say, holding, like the other parts of football, is an extremely detail-oriented job. Former Pro Bowl punter Pat McAfee talked about how he had no idea how to hold a FG coming out of college, and when he was drafted by the Colts, Adam Vinatieri sent him to his former holder, Ken Walter to learn how to hold FGs for him.https://www.cover1.net/buffalo-bills-tyler-bass-elite-nfl-pro-bowl-2021/
As far as the game, it's all been said. I was happily surprised.
Question, though. Recent posts: Why is the punter automatically, seemingly, the holder on f.g.'s and e.p.'s? Why not just have a good hands person do it?
I dont know antyhing about kicking, but if thatās the case the punter is much more expendable than the kicker
I really like how Bojorquez punts the ball
I like him as a punter, now there may be an issue with him.
Worse part of it, the issue isn't about his foot and kicking.
It's about his hands and holding.
What the heck !
They proved to themselves that they can be as good as any team if they put out a winning effort and don't give up.
I wouldn't say that beating a 5-5 Bucs team with a declining Brady in overtime says "that they can be as good as any team" but I get the excitement.
The Bucs are not that good. They lost to the Steelers. Their oline can't run
Block. Brady is on the decline. They play in the weakest division in the NFL.
The Browns won and a win is a win. But the Bucs are not a SB contender
Agreed but I'll take a win against anyone now and for the rest of the season. A win for our Browns is like a holiday for us fans!!!
JOK made a few great plays, thats for sure
That dude is calm and focused. Love me some JOK
Myles and Njoku won this game.
And Chubb 20+Carries Browns are 4-0
Cooper always getting open
Can't forget Jacoby he hung in and did the right things
Yesterday it was the D that saved the O. For all the gushing in this thread, going 55 game minutes without scoring a TD is never good. Game ball to the D.
I Blame that on forgetting about Chubb, you saw what happened when they remembered he was still on the team ...
Cooper's drop didn't even feel bad because he's so reliable. The dude is a true #1 WR.
Coopers drop seemed so par for the course lol just because heās so reliable
So, it might be his plant foot ā¦ you wonder if theyāve tried everything possible to remedy the ST/K situation. we shouldnāt be this bad
Thanks for posting this. Like I said earlier........I've watched his holds closely after reading the stuff about his past struggles. Couldn't see a thing.
York needs a good coach to coach him up and help with issues like this.
Another sign of Priefer being awful
Bojorquez needs to hold Priefer and Cade needs to plant his foot !
Who knows, I would certainly hope so. There were similar complaints about the kicking woes with Priefer at ST coach during his time in Minnesota with Daniel Carlson and Blair Walsh.
They got rid of Carlson after only two games after drafting him in the fifth round.
In the end, the Browns will just have to be patient with York. Give him time to grow.
Did McPherson have to grow ?
York doesn't need to grow
He needs a good coach to help him
I agree that you gotta stick w/York. There are so many kickers who struggled early on, got cut, and went on to have success elsewhere. He's our guy. Just hope he gets better next season.
Not even M. Night Shyamalan saw that one comin.
It reminds of them singing happy birthday to lumberg in office space.
I wasn't even going to listen to the speech, but with that description, I have to. But first, I have to get a piece of cake. I was told last time I would get one, but never did.

When I was watching as a kid in the late 60s, early 70s, most teams' holder seemed to be the backup QB.

because if there is a bad snap or a bad situation during the kick
The Punter has the best chance to make a play
Oh look that emoji worked for me!

I don't know about that. Seems to me you want a "hands" person doing the holding. Someone that WILL catch the snap, and get it down. And an inch or so off angle? I don't think that makes much of a difference. Angled side to side, perhaps.
I've always liked the backup Qb holding. Gives you better opportunity for a fake Fg and forces the other team to be much more aware of the possibility. I think teams go with the punter because they can send the K, P, and LS off on their own to work on things
Teams used to hold FGs with their backup QBs much more often but have gone away from it in recent years

Yes. I think the reasoning is that punters can spend a lot more time at practices w/the kicker than a backup qb can. Developing that chemistry of exactly what the kicker prefers is important. I know Dies was joking earlier, but punters are almost always very good athletes, as well. That's not the reason for them being the holder, but I wanted to throw that in there.
That makes sense. It makes sense from a practice standpoint.

They are also the guy who handles punt snaps from the long snapper. They are used to receiving fast, tight snaps.
