At this point in the season, the Browns are half the team they were in September. Some will come back to regular play soon. Others will take more time. Until we have close to a full complement of players, we won't know what the Browns will look like, week-to-week.

Here's my point: CLE will have to game-plan around injuries , some major/season-altering, some naggingly inconvenient for the remainder of the season.... oftentimes, against teams that are much healthier at game time. That gives the advantage to the coaches who aren't juggling personnel, while setting up their game plan. Jury-rigging a team week-to-week is a recipe for hard & uncertain times.

I'm not sure what this coaching staff will trot out next Sunday- and I'm having a hard time seeing a way they can win.

I'll still watch. I watched all of 1-31.
But this next one feels like so many of the other ones, since 1999.

Early Wed morning predix:
1. DTR will not clear concussion protocol for Sunday's game.
2. CLE will rush Joe Flacco onto the field, as the Browns triage together a working team.
3. Browns will lose a game that was a penciled-in gimme

This is the NFL.
No game is a "gimme."

I'm happy Flacco is the back up over Walker

I also don't expect DTR to start

If DTR is not practicing due to the protocol, then give Flacco all the first team reps

DTR needs all the practice he can get to improve, sending him in a game without a weeks worth of practice would probably do him more harm than good

Let Flacco start.

Injuries in the NFL are so common.

In the spring after the draft while the team begins OTA's. You look at the roster and think " this should be a good team."

In many cases you don't even get out of camp without losing a player. Then as the season starts week to seek it is like a slow leak on a tire.

One guy is lost. Then another. Teams on average lose 10 players a year to IR or IL.

Who you lose can decide if you are in or out of the playoffs.

By this time of year when a game begins. I am in the mode of "who we got?"

It is damn hard to win any game in the NFL. If Flacco starts. We will be on quarterback number four. When Nick went down. So did my expectations and heart. When DW was lost. My thinking went to. Well maybe there will be a few games to enjoy.

Has there been a week in the last 2 years where we had fewer injuries than the other team? It never seems to fail that we have a LOT more on the list than our opponent.

the good news is we won't see anymore PJ Walker IMO

As long as DTR is in the protocol, we are 1 hard hit and/or 1 drill gone sideways from Walker starting.

thanks for the reminder on this fine morning smile

Yeah... sorry.

Again, with all that we've seen (and assuming Flacco starts and does NOT implode in terms of turnovers and poor play), I don't see the benefit of having Walker occupy a roster spot when Colt McCoy or Nick Foles are out there unsigned.

Why are there so many injuries this year??? is it just bad luck? do we need a better strength and conditioning coach?

[color:#FFFFCC]jaybird is asking the right question..a question about an area of the Browns football program that might be a major factor determining factor in whether the Browns succeed this season or not. By 'succeed' I'm talking about the Browns making the playoffs.

What the hell is up with the Browns being so injury prone..?

It comes down to CONDITIONING AND TRAINING..!

The Browns most current record on where they rank in the NFL in various areas that affect conditioning as well as strength and training..

If this subject (injuries/conditioning/training) expands with many sharing their ideas and suggestions the content might be saved and transferred to the Pure Football forum...just a suggestion.

Glad that jaybird brought this subject up...

I think it is a couple of things that aren't that big of a deal.

1. These guys are playing HARD this year.

2. Stefanski is listing absolutely anyone/anything that ticks the check boxes. You want/need to take it light on Wednesday to give your body an extra day of easier recover because you got something that's a little banged up? Cool, we'll mark you as Limited and hope you're back to full-go on Thursday (and it looks like there are several that fit this mold)

At this time of year, they are ALL sore and banged up. Giving the guys that need it most an easy day to ease into things, especially if they've been in the league a few years, doesn't hurt at all.

I think we've seen our team play as hard as I can remember, even with tough circumstances and on the road etc. That's a good sign about our leadership

Emerson on Kupp?

I'm looking forward to him play, oddly enough.
Posted By: Milk Man Re: Injuries - 12/01/23 09:57 PM
I believe the Browns keep their corners on one side rather than shadowing. I think Nacua is a bigger threat than Kupp right now. Kupp doesn't seem 100% healthy.
Posted By: Dawgs4Life Re: Injuries - 12/02/23 03:54 AM
I'd put Emerson on Nacua, who is the more physical type WR ... then I'd put Newsome on Kupp with a guy over the top

I honestly believe JF gives us the best chance to win right now. Nothing Against DTR I like him but he' just doesn't have enough playing time and now isn't the time for trial and error. Do I know how JF is going to do no but he has the experience and they have to respect his arm. DTR is the better runner no doubt but Joe is the better passer and can read what the D is doing better. Good Luck tomorrow Joe we need you!!!!
