I was playing with first-pick.com and "accepted" a trade with Chicago to #11 and moved forward to the #11 pick - I had to put some serious thought into what I'd do if I were GM, as there wasn't anyone available that "I had to have".
It got me thinking that it'd be interesting to see what others would do at this point (I presume most would go QB) if we couldn't trade down further. It also made me wonder what ya'll thought would be scenarios that'd leave you perplexed on what to do.
My scenario – Browns re-sign Schwartz and Mack stays or gets re-signed. Then in the draft we Trade down to 9-12 spot and the following are already taken:
-Jalen Ramsey, FS/CB, Florida State
-Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
-Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
-Myles Jack, OLB/ILB, UCLA
-Joey Bosa, DE/OLB, Ohio State
-DeForest Buckner, DE/DT, Oregon
-2 of the top 3 QBs
I'd be seriously torn. I'd have to consider QB based on need, but I'm not sold on any of them yet. Robinson is BPA according to at least one source, and we could use his run D prowess. Jaylon Smith might end up being a steal at 11, but he's a risk with his injury situation. Lawson fits a need at OLB. Ragland is an option, but is a reach in my opinion at 11. I think it'd be Robinson or Smith for me (assuming Smith's prognosis is great), but depending on the QB, I might go there too.
Who do you pick?
Noah Spence and not think twice about it. I love Smith, I think he's in a class by himself at ILB, but that injury scares the crap out of me.
I thought about Spence as well, but his off field stuff removed him from my list. I agree 100% on Smith.
What's your less than ideal draft scenario?
1) JAX (f/ TEN) -- Laremy Tunsil, OT Ole Miss
2) SF (f/ CLE) -- Jared Goff, QB Cal
3) SD -- Laquon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss
4) DAL -- Joey Bosa, DE Ohio State
5) TEN (f/ JAX) -- Noah Spence, OLB Eastern Kentucky
6) BAL -- Jalen Ramsey, DB Florida St
7) CLE (f/ SF) -- ?
That's my toughest realistic scenario. Not crazy about the options there.
Myles Jack and celebrate.
(Also, Baalke announced today that Kaepernick will be on the 49ers in 2016, so I don't think them trading up for a QB is a realistic option.)

in my scenario, he's already gone.
I'd look at the 2 Alabama DTs (Robinson & Reed), CB Hargreaves, and Zeke. As this is a deep DT draft I'd probably chose between Hargreaves and Elliott.

I would probably take Elliot, because in this scenario he's probably the best player on the board.
Or I would take the remaining QB
"What if we passed on the top tier talent in this draft and had to pick from the rest."

thats what we always do. time to buck the trend
Easy take lynch also you did not say what we got in compensetion

In this scenario, it'd be something like 9-12, plus a future 1st rounder, and likely something else in the 2016 draft.
I think the trade I accepted on the site was #12, 2016 3rd rounder, and a 2017 1st rounder.

We're running a 3-4 what do we need yet another defensive tackle for? We need a DE and we need linebackers. LOTS of linebackers.
More than anything though we need a quarterback. So I really don't see us trading down and going with McCown as our franchise QB for the next ten years.
A'Shawn played both NT and DE in Alabama's 3-4. He's got good size to play DE in the NFL.
I'm inclined to accept the risk of Jaylon Smith's knee more than Noah Spence's character issues.

Yeah, but in what round?
The risk is much less if you are taking him in the fourth round.
The one condition I'd stipulate is the medical evaluation has to be positive for Smith. Given that, and the scenario offered in the OP, Smith over Spence in round 1.
That's what I'd do. Doesn't make it right, lol.
It was reported today he'd miss the season and has some nerve damage. He's gonna fall.
Think he falls as much as Ifo did?

Because those college DTs would play DE in our 3-4 scheme.
Trading down when you have a shot at Bosa at number two is dumb. This team had no pass rush last year, are we going to continue to rely on guys like Kruger and Mingo to pressure the QB?

Agreed. If one of these QB's can't possibly be the guy then take Bosa unless the trade down offer is too crazy NOT to take.
I'd probably go Hargreaves. 3 year starter for Florida. He'd be ready to start pretty quickly. Him and Joe Haden. And losing Haden last year showed our secondary was weak.
I don't see much hope for Gilbert and that Oregon fellow is a bit of an unknown. I don't think Desir is much more than a backup
Most importantly, I thought Williams played better last year than people gave him credit for, but he's getting quite old. At any point he could be set for a major step back.
I really don't wanna trade back this far........ Maybe even Ezekiel Elliot. He'd be an upgrade over the Crow and would make an impact on offense
But I in no way want to trade this far back. We're talking about an offer that is through the roof and not much faith in the QBs to do that
