I posted a poll to Facebook last night and got more responses than I thought I would in a half day, so I figured I'd try here too, as I would like as many responses as possible.

I have a very short survey I'm asking people to fill out. It is 1 multiple choice question and one ranking question (rank 10 items 1-10 in order of importance). The survey is completely anonymous.

It is an unscientific attempt to understand what political issue categories are most important to people (that's the 1-10 ranking), and how you affiliate yourself politically (that's the question). I'm hoping to get >250 answers, so I may re-post this a few times.

In advance, I appreciate your 2-5 minutes.

edit: Feel free to share this with others, the more results the better.

Thanks Pdawg.

BTW all, I realize that this isn't a perfect survey. I've been getting a lot of feedback on FB on it's quality...it wasn't intended to be perfect, and I wanted to leave it open to personal interpretation. I plan on follow-up surveys as well, these will be better and more focused.

Done. Looks like I'm independent.

Thanks everyone, I'm up to 85 responses so far in about 36 hours between Facebook and DT. Would love more responses if you haven't yet taken the survey.

Here are the results with 100 responses thus far.

For party, is sorted by number of submissions. For the issue category, it is sorted by the overall average for each issue. Within each line, I highlighted the top 2 in green (plus ties) and bottom 2 in orange (plus ties). This is a statistically invalid sample.

Interesting. I find it very curious that social issues is near the bottom for democrats while criminal and immigration is near the top... that looks more like a sign of current events than prevailing political beliefs... the flip side of that is that I'm surprised social is so high for Republicans.. unless I'm reading your chart wrong.

Done. Not sure of color coding. Good luck with it.

The lower the number, the higher importance. So, for Dems on Social, it is 4.5 and is the 4th most important issue. Criminal and Immigration are 8th and 10th most important for Dems.

When I set it up, I should have made 10 most important, that'd have made more sense. hind sight is 20/20...

What I did find interesting is that overall, Immigration is 8th most important, but that seems to be a large focus of the current administration (at least right now).

That explains a lot. Thanks.
