Steelers OT wants to face 'choking Bengals' in playoffs

The blood-boiling rivalry between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals concluded its 2015 regular season edition Sunday with a romp by Big Ben & Co.

Sunday's contest saw a pregame dust up, a two NSFW messages from injured Bengals corner Adam Jones and plenty of highlights. In the two games this season, each won a game and each franchise lost a key member due to injury -- Steelers' Le'Veon Bell in Week 8; Bengals' Andy Dalton Sunday.

Steelers offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert hopes the teams get to renew the rivalry in the playoffs:

"All I want for Christmas is the Bengals. Would love to see them in the playoffs where they choke. The talking is done between the lines," Gilbert wrote on Twitter. He has since deleted the tweet.

If the AFC North rivals do meet in the playoffs, the Bengals could be without Dalton -- depending on how you feel about the "Dalton chokes in the playoffs" storyline, that could be twisted into a good or bad omen.

#Bengals QB Andy Dalton (broken thumb) sees a hand specialist today. Initial fears include missing the rest of the regular season, at least

To be fair, it's not as if the recent iteration of the Steelers has been better than the Bengals when it comes to the playoffs. Pittsburgh has been to the playoffs just twice since losing in Super Bowl XLV (2010 season). The Steelers lost both Wild Card games over that five-season stretch. The Bengals might be considered chokers, but they have gotten there more often than Pittsburgh and have just as many playoff wins since 2010: zero.

Regardless of the history, we would love to see a rubber match between Pittsburgh and Cincy in January, if only to see how cantankerous the sides become with a third meeting.

I've never hated a team (in any sport) the way I hate the Steelers. They whine about Burfect cheering about Leveonne Bell tearing his knee up but they knocked Carson Palmer out of the playoff game in 2005,Keith Rivers had his jaw broken by Hines Ward who targeted him with his helmet, Kevin Huber was blindsided by Antonio Brown and broke his jaw and cracked a vertabra in his neck. They are all dirty players and I would love nothing more than to see my Bengals knock them out in the playoffs. I would be interested in who Browns fans would pull for in a playoff game between the two teams. Bengals, Steelers, neither?

This would be a great game. Hope it happens. And I'm definitely cheering for the Steelers, as I'm a Steelers fan. I don't feel all the hate to be honest. Hate New England and Baltimore more, but that could easily change.

Have a great holiday everyone smile

PS - glad Dalton doesn't need surgery

I don't think I could cheer for either, and I would definitely cheer for the winner to be knocked out in the next game... however, if it came right down to it, it would be a little less painful to watch the Steelers win another super bowl than it would be to watch the Bengals win their first.

I don't like either team, but the bungles are at the bottom of the heap for me. I know some bandwagon fans that flap their yaps until the annual 1st round dump from the playoffs. There's no way I could ever root for the steelers either, but I'll always have a little respect for Rooney voting against the Browns relocating.

I would root for the Bengals. there is not a single Bengals fan around here that I would have to listen to, while I have steelers fans everywhere around here. I also have very close relatives who have been Bengals fans since the 1st year the Bengals had a team in the NFL and they have yet to see them win. Plus my mother-in-law who tries to poison me every damn year at Thanksgiving is a die hard Steelers fan

Hines' hits on your glass pussy cats were legal before the NFL changed the rules.

Nobody would have "whined" about burfict if he didn't have a history of intent to injure going back to last year, for which he got fined twice.

Forget about winning it...browns fans will jump off the 480 bridge if the bengals merely go on to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl...
...while their browns remain the laughingstock.
