You remind me of this guy named Nelson, just not as intense. Unless his last name was Mandela, I don't think I'd appreciate the comparison. Here's a Mandela quote that feels relevant to the original thread purpose and the impact of the joke: “It is never my custom to use words lightly. If twenty-seven years in prison have done anything to us, it was to use the silence of solitude to make us understand how precious words are and how real speech is in its impact on the way people live and die.” link His last name was "37"... and yes, she wasn't issuing you a compliment. He's still on the roster. Look him up. Read his posts. If you don't see the similarity, it's because your morning shower is too hot- and your medicine cabinet's mirror is fogged. -just sayin'

I can’t completely sell out my people like that.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

You remind me of this guy named Nelson, just not as intense. He is not even close to Nelson. That was unfair.

I was attempting to get the thread back on track. Are racist jokes now a good thing with you, Clem? We don't always see things the same way, but we've generally been able to keep things on the issues. Are you resorting to the personal attack route now, too? If that's the case, I despair for humanity. Not liking racist jokes in a thread about race, and I'm the problem?

There are similarities, I thought of Nelson also.

I get the ego part, but Nelson is much more than that. I think he is scary. As in someone who might purposely injure other people. I see signs of narcissism, ODD, and psychopathy symptoms. Bull isn't like that.

What if I’m the bakest man in the room?

If you have to announce that you are the smartest person in the room, you aren’t the smartest person in the room. It was definitely a risky choice that apparently backfired. I was trying to show where I was coming from, and I thought I qualified it enough that it wouldn't come off as braggy. Clearly, I was wrong on that point. One of the many ways I think differently than most of you here, I guess. I also never claimed to be the smartest. Only that I was smart. I've been labelled the "smart guy" so often that I've resigned myself to using it. Others made that leap to smartest on their own (not entirely without reason.) Its hard to get a sense of people over the internet. I thought I was helping people get a better sense of me. I can see why people don't share personal details with strangers more and why conversations are hard. Without the relationship and history in place misunderstandings happen. Not being super familiar with DC, I definitely mistook his intentions on the first read through. Looking back, the "joke" is easier to see. The consideration that it could be did cross my mind rather quickly, but it still felt like the wrong place, if there even is a right place for such a thing. *shrug* People think differently.

We all get into the debates and sometimes it gets heated. But at the end of the day we are all friends and sometimes theres jokes. So, basically, never take anything too seriously.
