Actually, this did tell me something. For many years I heard people say we don't need a superstar QB, we just need a Phil Simms type to manage the game.

Here is Phil Simms

1 7 Phil Simms Morehead State New York Giants.

7th pick of the 1st round. I know I had forgotten he was drafted that high.

If Jason Campbell or Matt Lienart go to a team with a top 5 defense that drafts Trent Richardson they are SO winning the SB this year...

Just as teams sometimes luck out with the player they draft, there is no doubt players sometimes luck out, or maybe I should say "unluck" out with the team that drafts them.

Lol. That's the year the bungles selected the "Throwin' Samoan" over Simms and Joe Montana.

I never heard that about Phil Simms, I did hear that about Trent Dilfer..

I guess if you have that strong of a D and an outstanding running game,, you can certainly win it all with a game manager at QB..

Go back to the days of Phil Simms at QB with the Giants Biggest strength was the D..

I did notice one other thing.. it seems like each year, there is one guy sometimes two that somehow get a ton of hype and two things happen,, they fall in the draft and when they get a chance, they quite often fail. I won't go into examples. most of us have been around long enough to know who's who.

By the way if you don't know when Trent Dilfer was drafted from Fresno State it might surprise you.

Matt Leinart?

I;d like to see him do something productive at QB before I put him in the Super Bowl as anything but a backup.

Remember, Arizona improved the QB position by dumping him and signing DA ...... then Kolb, and Skelton. I know that Leinart appeared to get it a little last year ......... in the less than one half of football he played ......... but he's still a guy I would approach with caution.

I'm also not so sure about Jason Campbell. He is a guy whose best year was 20 TD to 15 INT. He's better than what we've had, but I have trouble seeing him taking a team to the Super Bowl.

IMHO, the Trent Dilfer Effect died when the NFL opened up the passing rules so offenses could get away with almost anything. The closest guy this year was Smith in San Fran ...... and he had a pretty decent year, with 17 TD and only 5 INT. He didn't carry that team by any stretch of the imagination, but I think he gave them about the minimum you need from your QB if you are to win in the playoffs.

I honestly just looked and saw that Dilfer was drafted in the 1st round in 94, won a Superbowl with a rookie RB and top defense in 2000...

Did some math, and picked Campbell and Lienart as failed 1st round QBs that with the right support could win...

I guess I should of used purple font...

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

2006 and 2007 were crappy years for QBs
