Just list some guys that our other fellow brownies should try to watch if they can. I'm not going to mention an obvious guy like Matt Barkley.

Margus Hunt, DE, SMU

Quote:

The native of Estonia sounds like a PlayStation football creation: A 6-foot-8, 280 pounder with an 82-inch wingspan. Yet despite those long arms, he can still bench 225 35 times, and his coach, SMU track coach Dave Wollman, predicts Hunt will rep it 45 times next year at the NFL combine and clock a 4.60 40-yard dash. Hunt has cleaned 384 pounds, snatched 345 and vertical jumped 36 inches. "He's off-the-scale powerful," said Wollman. "On that kind of frame, seeing the cleans and the snatch go that high to the ceiling, it is amazing."

He also had 7 blocked kicks in 2009. He has blocked 14 kicks total in his three years playing football at SMU.

This is exactly the kind of guy I would look for to make a kick block specialist....I don't care if he plays football or not.

You could study each teams kicker to see how long it takes from the snap until the ball reached the LOS, then work out how far off the line you blocker would need to be to take2- 3 steps, then jump.

You'd also take in to account angles, wind etc to hopefully get your guy right in the line of where the kicker wanted to kick.

How many blocked kicks, or missed kicks because the kicker had to alter something before it was well worth the roster spot??

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I'll take pretty much that entire LSU defense and be happy lol. I am an SEC fan but one kid, I like the looks of from Ohio St. is the big Tight End Jake Stoneburner. The receiver from Texas A&M Ryan Swope looks like the next Wes Welker type. It is a good DE class next year. I believe we will see atleast 5 go in the first and possibly as many as 8.

They will make that one exception for us and we will mistakenly draft the Lousiana-Lafayette defense.

I have seen Barkley listed as 6'1"? Is that correct?

Not sure. Sounds about right from looking at him though.

As far as the list of players Manti Te'o is widely considered the beat player ever produced by the state of Hawaii and that's saying something.

Watch a Notre Dame game some time next year and you'll see why. Power, speed, smarts. He could be the next great LBer at the NFL level.

I'd be shocked if he's not picked in the top half of the first round next year.

If we're picking 5th again next year then we didn't pick the right QB. If Wilson and Barkley are gone then it might make sense to go for a positional player. If amerson can get half the picks he got last year then he would be my number one choice there at this point.

Thanks for the post. It is amazing that we could see 5 or even 6 guys being drafted in the first round from that LSU defense. Would love to add both Montgomery as our pass rushing DE and Reid as the over the top safety paired with Ward. That would be a sick defense.

1. QB Matt Barkley 6’2” 220 (USC)

It was surprising to see Barkley return for his senior season. Other quarterbacks like Bray and Wilson will challenge him for the No.1 overall pick next year. But he has a very good supporting cast coming back and he is on a mission to win a National Championship in 2012.

2. OT D.J. Fluker 6’6” 335 (Alabama) *

A powerful run blocker that plays with a mean streak. He has light feet and has improved in pass protection.

3. QB Tyler Wilson 6’3” 220 (Arkansas)

He threw for 3,638 passing yards, 24 TD’s and only 6 INT’s last season. He has a strong arm with good mechanics.

4. DE/OLB Sam Montgomery 6’4” 245 (LSU) *

He is an absolute terror off the edge with his speed and athleticism. He could be a special player at OLB in a 3-4 defense.

5. DE Kereem Martin 6’6” 260 (North Carolina) *

A decorated recruit coming out of high school, he started all 13 games next season. With Quinton Coples entering the NFL Draft, he is ready to take a huge leap in 2012.

6. OT Luke Joeckel 6’6” 310 (Texas A&M) *

He will be the top OL in the Big 12 next year. He has the size and the feet to be a LT in the NFL. He is also very fundamentally sound.

7. QB Tyler Bray 6’6” 210 (Tennessee) *

He has ideal size and arm strength for the next level. He has talented Da’Rick Rogers and Justin Hunter as his key targets in the passing game. He should be able to raise his level of play.

8. DT Johnathan Hankins 6’3” 335 (Ohio State) *

Hankins is a big man that will be ideal for the NT position in a 3-4 scheme. He should warrant a top 10 selection because of his surprising quickness. He is a similar player to Haloti Ngati.

9. CB David Amerson 6’3” 185 (North Carolina State) *

He has the physical tools to be a special player. David has a knack for making the big play which was on full display by his 13 interceptions during his sophomore season. He just needs to improve his technique.

10. LB Jarvis Jones 6’3” 241 (Georgia) *

Athletic and speedy LB with the skill set to be a special player in the NFL. He needs to work on his coverage skills and technique.

11. WR Robert Woods 6’1” 180 (USC) *

He has posted incredible statistical numbers during his first two seasons at USC. He is a precise route runner with the speed to stretch the field.

12. DE Devin Taylor 6’7” 260 (South Carolina)

An athletic DE with great size. He needs to step up his production in 2012 season in order to justify this high ranking.

13. OT Ricky Wagner 6’6” 320 (Wisconsin)

He is an excellent run blocker with long arms. He has improved as a pass protector, but still struggles against speed rushers. He would be a much better fit as a RT in the NFL.

14. OT Seantrel Henderson 6’8” 345 (Miami, FL) *

Big, massive tackle who is a tremendous run blocker. He needs to put to rest all of the injury concerns that he has faced early on in his career.

15. RB Marcus Lattimore 6’1” 232 (South Carolina) *

Lattimore has been the focal point of the Gamecocks’ offense ever since his freshman season. He must prove that he is healthy because he is coming off a knee injury.

16. CB Dee Milliner 6’1” 196 (Alabama) *

An athletic corner with speed and major upside. He is ready for a breakout season.

17. OT Jake Matthews 6’5” 305 (Texas A&M) *

Jake is the starting RT for the Aggies. He is also the son of a Hall of Fame OL Bruce Matthews.

18. CB Johnthan Banks 6’2” 185 (Mississippi State)

A physical all-around cornerback who had 5 interceptions during his junior year. He struggles a bit against quicker receivers.

19. LB Sean Porter 6’2” 230 (Texas A&M)

Porter already reminds people of his former teammate Von Miller. He is an impressive athlete with terrific speed. He had 79 tackles, 17 TFL’s and 9.5 sacks in 2011 season.

20. S T. J. McDonald 6’3” 205 (USC)

T.J. is an all-around, athletic safety who can match up with WR’s and TE’s in coverage. His father Tim McDonald was an All- Pro safety in the NFL.

21. WR Keenan Allen 6’3” 205 (California) *

He has very reliable hands. He makes tough catches in traffic and is also very dangerous after the catch. Allen had 98 receptions, 1,343 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns.

22. RB Knile Davis 6’1” 226 (Arkansas)

Davis missed the entire 2011 campaign with the left ankle injury. He rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2010.

23. DT Kawann Short 6’3” 310 (Purdue)

Defensive tackle with good size who makes a lot of plays in the backfield.

24. LB Manti Te’o 6’2” 255 (Notre Dame)

Te’o has been a very productive LB for the Irish. He is a reliable and punishing tackler with great size. His best fit would be as an ILB in a 3-4 defense.

25. RB Christine Michael 5’11” 213 (Texas A&M)

He should be the focal point of an offense for Kevin Sumlin next season as the Aggies make the transition to the SEC. Michael will have an experienced OL blocking in front of him and he has a great opportunity for a big year.

26. LB Kevin Reddick 6’3” 240 (North Carolina)

Reddick is an instinctive linebacker with sideline-to-sideline speed. He should be the leader of North Carolina’s defense next season.

27. CB Tyrann Mathieu 5’9” 175 (LSU) *

He was a flat out playmaker for the LSU Tigers defense last season. He has tremendous ball skills and has a knack for forcing turnovers. He is also a great returner. The only knock on him is his lack of size.

28. S Ray Ray Armstrong 6’4”, 215 (Miami, FL)

Armstrong has ideal size and speed for the safety position. He is a punishing hitter that needs to overcome his issues with inconsistency which seems to plague him throughout his career.

29. DE/OLB Barkevious Mingo 6’5” 240 (LSU) *

He is yet another athletic DE/OLB standout from LSU that has tremendous speed for the position.

30. DE Alex Okafor 6’4” 260 (Texas)

Emerged as a legitimate pass rusher last season. He could eventually become a top 10 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft after the season is over.

31. WR Marquess Wilson 6’4” 183 (Washington State) *

Back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons for this talented junior. He should flourish even more under the guidance of the new head coach Mike Leach.

32. TE Tyler Eifert 6’6” 249 (Notre Dame) *

Big TE with good hands and precise route running ability. He is also a very good blocker.

6'1" Barely is ranked #1 in the draft at this point? Man ..... there's 1 QB that short who has made a major impact lately, and that's Drew Brees. Barely isn't Drew Brees.

Justin Hunter - WR - Tennessee

The best player you haven't watched. If he stays healthy, mark it down, he will surpass Robert Woods as the first WR taken. Unbelievable talent.

Yeah that catch in the corner was probably my top non-Baylor "wow" moment last year. I think he had three tds that game. The other game of Marshall I watched last year he wasn't nearly as impressive. Definitely worth some DVR space again this year, though.

Watching Vanderbilt at Tennessee... Don't remember if it was Turk or candy that brought up da'rick Rogers but he looks really good. Tough, strong receiver. Catches in traffic well. Neither Bray nor J Rodgers looking good at QB, but bray is coming off 6 week injury. Malik Jackson looks really good. Apparently, Fugger is "fyoo-ger."

Da'rick went to Calhoun, H.S., about 25 miles south of here.

A talent no doubt, but as is common with a WR, a egghead.

What is with it with thosse guys??

Yeah .... I'm not a fan of midget QBs. I'm also not a fan of his overall game.

I'd happily take Drew Brees ...... but he's about the only one I can think of who I would want to wear a Browns uniform.

Yeah, and you wouldn't say that til AFTER his resurrection in New Orleans. If anyone had suggested he should go top 5 or 10 when he came out, you'd say they were reaching big time.

he obviously elevated even more in NO, but I would have taken his last 2 years in SD as well.

coming out of Purdue, I don't think many would have seen him reaching his current level, no.
