Browns source: GM Ray Farmer met with ownership before the game & was relieved of his duties. It's over.

Yes! A big step in the right direction (depending on who his replacement is, but-of-course).
Well, that is a plus. Maybe that keeps Pet back as an option, then, if Haslam acknowledges the Farmer's failings?
That's so odd it happened like that because they showed him on TV in the box during the game a few times.
Fired BEFORE the game? Odd, I saw him sitting in one of the suites - I think close to haslem?
Maybe this Brown guy and Pet can click?

Yeah, I thought I did too.
SEE YA RAY! Bowe can give ya some money for the movers.
I heard a collective gulp from Hawkins, Gabriel and Jennings upon the news.
Taller receivers coming our way!!
He definately was sitting on one of the boxes close to Haslam, at least the camera show Haslam them Farmer so that it looked they were together.
j/c:
Grossi: Alec Scheiner and Sashi Brown have emerged as the leaders of the Browns front office moving forward.
Grossi: I don't see Sashi Brown making personnel moves but I can see him hiring the people that do make those decisions.

Could this rumor be imaginary?

Awkward.
RT @DustinFox37: Ray was fired before the game? And sat in the suite the whole time? That's kind of weird.
https://twitter.com/923TheFanSo many people have said this...

https://twitter.com/ESPNCleveland A front office led by Scheiner and Sashi Brown would lend itself to hiring Chip Kelly. Just my own speculation.
Never like to see people's livelihoods and family messed with, but man good riddance. What an utter bafoon he was from day 1.
Now it's time for #2 to pack his bags and we'll have a good start to our off-season.
And another dismal two or three years...
"Ray, you're fired, but feel free to use your box for the game - enjoy!"
Sashi is tremendously bright, but has never scouted before, and I'm told he's never sat in on combine interviews etc. This would be bold

It would be a tough pill to swallow if we hired someone from within without at least interviewing other people.

Darn right.
I myself, had I been fired before the game, certainly wouldn't have sat in the owners box. Unless the owner got charged for food by the plate. Then I would've, and Jimmy Haslem would be responsible for the 50 plates of food I threw away.
I would never, even if I was expecting to be fired, sit with the guy firing me. Ever.
Could this rumor be imaginary?
Not unless he was seen in Vegas with Johnny

So evidently he was fired before the game. I know I saw him on TV in the owners box, that is weird.
Ray Farmer hurt this team badly with his decisions. Pettine is not that great, but the talent Farmer assembled was horrid. This team went backwards.
As for Scheiner and Brown, they are temporarily in charge until the hire a GM. I got a feeling Haslam, already has someone lined up.

Unless it will be the VP of Football Operations that many wanted and Sashi will hire the GM and the GM will hire retain scouts.
I dunno.
Ulrich is money in the bank:
Browns GM Ray Farmer has been fired, a source confirmed.

Browns also parting ways with their now former general manager Ray Farmer, as @RapSheet reported. Cleveland changes underway.
https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/683790790703845376That's three sources. Done deal.

That made me smile, thanks.

Life gives circumstances for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. This is not a lifetime, so I'm certain it will be ok."
How can this be..nooooooo!!!! We need continunity
How can Ray Farmer be fired
Look at all the WRS HE GAVE A CHANCE TO THAT IS UNDER 5'7
AND WOULD NOT BE ON A NFL ROSTER OTHERWISE.
HOW ABOUT THE FUTURE ALL PROS HE DRAFTED SHELTON,KIRKSEY,
GILBERT!!!
Os anyone else concerned that we may be promoting a guy to GM who has never even worked in personnel?
Sashi Brown did the contracts for the Browns .... but I don't know that this qualifies him for GM.
My confidence in the organization is zilch. No trust that they'll do anything right. Haslam could look to go on the cheap this time seeing how much money he's paying out. If so, fans should sit on their wallets.

I don't think he's going to be GM. It said that he would be the one hiring the important people. I can't believe we'll make him the Director of Football Operations since he has no experience, but it sounds like we'll make him a VP. My real question is will Schiener move into the position of Director of Football Operations? That would be a sucker punch for sure. A lot of good GM's and Head Coaches, especially, can be ascertained by that role. If we gave it up to Schiener because he led this coup would certainly be a sign that this team would be going in the wrong direction.
A lot of connected people in the "Twitter-verse" have mentioned that Sashi Browns has been mentioned as a possible GM.
i dunno if you listen to espn cleveland radio, but Grossi was on the phone saying that Brown would get promoted, but he will hire people to make the football decisions and such, as he'll be getting the vp job.
Great! Hire the contract guy that hasn't scouted a player in his life. That will turn that first round pick slump right around!
Haslam can't possibly be this stupid.

Just as long as there is one clear voice who has final say over the roster.
Saw an article on Brown. He mentioned "Watching" and " Listening" to the football guys he'd been around. Now whibknows how it'll turn out but Watching and Listening are important words I picked out when I read it.
Maybe moving to a more analytic driven drafting method wouldn't be so bad? Remember when we ran that study and it said Teddy would be the best QB in the draft class? Remember when we picked Johnny because a hobo told us to? Maybe analytics wouldn't be the worst...

Before this he worked with the Jaguars...

I prefer analytics in many circumstances because it [hopefully] removes some of the inherent human bias.
He was the team lawyer for the Jags and analytics does not = non-football guy.
Quite possibly one of the 5 worst GM's in NFL History. Four 1st round picks in two years and nothing to show from them (Shelton's getting better though), nothing to show from any of his draft classes except Duke Johnson was okay. That is pathetic. We could've had Carr and Mack, or Watkins and Carr, or Bridgewater and Odell-Beckham, or Carr & Kelvin Benjamin and the list goes on & on & on. Instead we got a CB (Gilbert) that can't cover and a QB that can't lay off the booze. What a terrible job Farmer did.
He should have been fired right after he ran our OC off. Worst GM ever, hands down.
