'Terrorist incident' outside Parliament in London: Police shoot assailant, officer stabbed

An assailant stabbed a police officer inside London's Parliament complex before being shot by police, who have placed the House of Commons on lockdown, authorities said.

There were also eyewitness reports that a car ran into pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge outside of Parliament, the legislative seat for the United Kingdom.

The BBC, quoting a doctor at a local hospital, said one pedestrian had died, and others had suffered "catastrophic injuries."

London's Metropolitan Police said they are "treating this as a terrorist incident unless we hear otherwise."

I am hearing at work (I work for the Army), through our internal TV feeds, that there are four dead now.

Edit: no, they are NOT classified TV feeds. Think C-SPAN types, unclassified but they seem to be a tad faster with the breaking news for this kind of stuff.

This has to be the work of a deranged individual.

If it was a planned, coordinated, attack by a terror cell, there should have been more "bang for the buck".

(Unless the terrorists are really stupid and/or desperate.)

Maybe this is a good sign. A good sign that in England, terrorists can't put together a massive attack. They'll just have to settle for running over a few people and stabbing a couple more before joining Allah and his 72 virgins.

Society will never reasonably be able to end this type of onslaught.
