An assailant stabbed a police officer inside London's Parliament complex before being shot by police, who have placed the House of Commons on lockdown, authorities said.

There were also eyewitness reports that a car ran into pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge outside of Parliament, the legislative seat for the United Kingdom.

The BBC, quoting a doctor at a local hospital, said one pedestrian had died, and others had suffered "catastrophic injuries."

London's Metropolitan Police said they are "treating this as a terrorist incident unless we hear otherwise."

This is terrible and sad news. My heart and condolences go out to the loved ones that have lost someone during this incident.

Instead of "liking" your post, I am directly responding.

I am hearing at work (I work for the Army), through our internal TV feeds, that there are four dead now.

Edit: no, they are NOT classified TV feeds. Think C-SPAN types, unclassified but they seem to be a tad faster with the breaking news for this kind of stuff.

A real shame.

This has to be the work of a deranged individual.

If it was a planned, coordinated, attack by a terror cell, there should have been more "bang for the buck".

(Unless the terrorists are really stupid and/or desperate.)

Maybe this is a good sign. A good sign that in England, terrorists can't put together a massive attack. They'll just have to settle for running over a few people and stabbing a couple more before joining Allah and his 72 virgins.

Society will never reasonably be able to end this type of onslaught.

There's been these types of attacks since the dawn of mankind. Only difference is now it's splashed all over our living rooms.

If it was actually part of a group, I hope they catch some of the remaining group and put them in the "London Tower" never to be heard from again.
