Got NHL '14 last night. I love it. Haven't played a game in their series since '11.

The subtle improvements that they have made are really good, and the Be a Pro mode is awesome. It's right up there with NBA 2k's career mode which is the best of it's type if you ask me.

I also got Madden 25 which I probably will jump into next week...

FIFA 14.

Just bought GTAV for the PS3. I rented it right after the release and played it through a weekend. I really liked it. I waited until the price dropped to $40 on Amazon.

I'll still play COD BLOPS2 3-4 times a week. I want to get to the Prestige Master level before I quit (which I think is level 10, I'm almost level 8). I only play online team deathmatch. I spent 10 mins playing the campaign mode. Yuck.

After that, who knows.....maybe I'll wait for EA's World Cup '14 (assuming they'll be doing one). I REALLY liked World Cup 2010.

Crusader Kings 2 on PC. Strategy game that focuses on you character's family line. Different but fun.
Posted By: Kingcob Re: What games are you currently playing? - 12/14/13 02:19 PM
I played Crusader Kings 2 for a bit and couldn't get into it. I kept trying to play as Scotland and couldn't figure out how to stop the Norwegians from destroying me.

I've been playing Counter-Strike Global Offensive non-stop for a few months now. After years of playing cs-source non stop. For a guy who plays a lot of video games I probably spend under $5 on them a year

I have a friend who plays Rome Total War 3, which looks better than Crusader Kings to me.

I played the demo and liked it, so since my brother is wanting to know something to get me for Christmas, I told him to buy that.

GOG has System Shock 2 for like 5 bucks so I will probably pick that up today.

Yeah definitely getting it during the winter sale, have it in the wishlist.
I play Solitaire, Hearts, Yahtzee, Mine Sweeper, and Free Cell, and a mean game of Bejewled.

Yeah, I've become an old fart. These new games are just too complicated for me.

I would like one of these one day though:

Should probably stop playing as Scotland then. But seriously you might want to try downloading a usermod called CK2+ really helps the game imo. Personally I always play on a user mod based on Game of Thrones.

Right now, Madden, FIFA, NCAAF, EU4, and DC Universe.

All the Total War games are great. Haven't played the newest Rome version but the previous versions of Rome, Shogun, and Medieval were great.

Battlefield 4 Obliteration mode is quite fun, I wasn't going to get it originally but Origin offered it at 50% off during the Black Friday sale. So I said what the hey and I grabbed it, glad I did.

The game engine is roughly the same as BF3 except I think they made the buildings a little more destructable. But the maps feel better to me, a little less in favor of Snipers and in favor of more cover.

I'm at the point where I wont pay full price for a game anymore, especially with companies like EA who rape us with too much DLC.

But if you can find it on sale at 50% off or better get it, it's well worth it at that price.

I bought a Nintendo 64 years ago.

I broke out the 1st game, and saw an instruction book half an inch thick and decided that I didn;t want to have to study to play a game.

Plus ..... after you read the instructions, you have to go online and find tricks, and cheat codes .....

Man, that's too much work for me.,

Love this game. I'm playing it a bit myself.

I just finished telltale game's The Walking Dead game. LOVE LOVE LOVE that game. I'm looking forward to season 2 of that game to come out.

I also enjoy playing Rocksmith (real guitar game).

We have the Xbox One arriving for Christmas and then I'll get started on Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, COD Ghosts and BF4.

If Serious, there is a micro USB port on the controller. You should have got a Micro USB to USB cord. There are either 2 - 4 USB ports on the PS3 depending on the model you own. You only need to plug the cord in to charge it. Once charged it works wireless via Bluetooth connection.
What's sad is this .....

There was a time when I laughed at people who got this totally lost look when I rattled off tech jargon ..... and now, tears removed from any real tech work, I look at some of these games ..... using Bluetooth and other stuff that I don't use ...... and I feel like I get the same look on my face now. lol

I love video games, I was raised by the NES, but I don't think I'll ever get into the motion type video games like the Wii or the PS Move or Kinect...

I play hockey to get exercise. I get exercise at work. When I get home and have some extra time, I like to relax and play. I have no idea how any of that stuff works. It seems stupid and gimmicky if you ask me. More of something that might be fun with friends and booze....
oh, and NHL '14 is so good I don't see myself even opening Madden until holiday break.
Recently finished up GTAV, SMW3D and Knack.

Right now I am playing Madden 25, NBA2K14 & Resogun, all for the PS4. I am obsessed with Resogun what a great game and free for PS+ users.

What I'm currently playing:

Gran Turismo 6
Forza 4 (always in my game rotation)
F1 2013
GTA V
TOCA Race Driver 3 (PS2)
I'm going legend in the juniors right now, I'm pretty sure I'm getting drafted number one.

Goodness GTAV is crazy good. I'm 19.5% done and I'm just overwhelmed. This is fun.

Has anyone ever reached 5 stars before? I hit 4 many times but get shot way before I can get to 5. And I've never got away after hitting 4 stars either. They always shoot my tires out and surround me. Tough, tough, tough.
The bank robbery missions are a freaking blast.

I've gotten 5 stars quite a few times, but I don't think I've ever lived to tell the tale. Steal a fighter jet and hang around the military fort after you take off, that will get them going.
I also find it very hard to reach 5 stars. Usually it's pretty easy to get to the 4 star level with shooting cops, peds, and causing chaos. But somehow I always get done in by the helicopters and multiple swat teams that chase after me. There was this one hilarious time when I did have 4 stars and called up a blimp company to deliver a zeppelin. I hopped on the blimp, went up and away, and was able to evade the cops and all of my stars. I thought that was pretty funny. I'm also at about 19% completed and this game has surpassed my expectations. I mean it is Rockstar but they really outdid themselves with this game. IMO its easily better than GTA IV.

it's definitely better than IV.

So-so storyline, not being able to fly, a map that seemed a little too small...

And there were really no fun side missions. A lot of stuff, like killing the pigeons seemed so tedious...

I've put a lot of hours into this game and I have yet to even start scaling the bottom of the ocean...

I need to get that blimp code out of the case. I find myself with a huge to-do list every time I load the game.

1. Get tattoo's for Franklin
2. Buy Trevor a tuxedo
3. Paint a car to look like a Browns helmet (the muscle car with the stripe)
4. See how many people I can knock off an ATV with my car
5. Lower my golfing score
6. Check on my stock portfolio
7. Kill Michael's son
8. Paint Franklin's bike
9. Buy more property
10. Run more flying missions with Trevor

endless.

We've been trying to like Call of Duty Ghosts, but honestly the Call of Duty series has almost played itself out in our household.

We tried to play Battlefield 4 online but playing on my daughters Xbox live account, we weren't able to play online due to the M rating. When we set up her account we put her real birthday in, stupid us.

Now we are looking for a good simulation, role playing game.

I had the Browns winning 12 consecutive Super Bowls in Head Coach. I usually did it without a first round pick (I traded back for picks) and I never had a losing season. My first season I went 8-8 and then ran off 12 consecutive Super Bowl victories.

Ok, so I got a few games for Christmas, the new Batman and the Last of Us.

I've put about an hour and a half into the Last of Us so far, and I've gotten very annoyed with how you almost helpless against these clickers? Pretty much if they see you, you're screwed because you aren't even allowed to defend yourself. The only way I have figured out how to beat them is if you sneak attack them, and for that you need a shiv which you are limited to what you can craft.

Does the game get better? Seems way too trial/error right now.

Haven't popped in Batman yet, but I'm 100% sure it's going to be awesome, like the last 2. Rocksteady is amazing with this series.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 12/31/13 07:24 PM
The Last of Us is the best game I personally played all year. Dabble into gamer/user reviews, and you'll see many, many people will agree with that assessment.

I set my games on hardest level setting, and I can't recall many situations where i had to replay a mission a few times or thought it was impossible to play. Explore a lot, you'll find many areas where you can stock up your supply and etc. Burning/using up a Shiv to unlock a door is generally well, well worth it!

For sure keep playing it, IMO!

As for Batman, I've played them all except the newest which I am totally sad they choose not to make it for the PS4. If it's anything like the other ones, then it should be awesome!

Most of the time you can just sneak past the clickers without having to take them on.

Rocksteady did not do Arkham Origins, WB Montreal did. I have played all 3 and AO is the weakest of the series but I enjoyed it. Just expect Arkham City again with some new story elements.

That's part of the suspense of playing Last of Us, you can't just fight every creature if you get caught. You pretty much have to take your time and sneak past the Clickers. Don't look for a fight with them. The game gets much better, just be patient with it.

I've also been playing Batman: Arkham Origins because I got it for Christmas as well. It's good, but a bit repetitive. A lot of the same thing over and over, wash, and repeat.

Thanks for the input. I got stuck on one level for like an hour, because I kept getting bitten by the clickers... I believe it was the train station part, still early in the game. and there must be 5 or 6 of them in this area, with one or two infected ones... Even if I got past the first few, the girl with me would end up shooting at one of them, and then it would just be a matter of time before they found me.

Maybe I'll give it another shot, I have to get off NHL first, that game is damn addicting. Maybe the best sports game of the last few years...

Just beat that part! Loving Last of Us right now. Recently bought a PS3 and it's pretty exciting. Got a Vita too now, as having the PS+ account just makes it all worth it. I've been mostly an Xbox/Xbox360 guy as of recent, but decided that I'd get PS3 because of the exclusives. Brought my xbox to the tugboat, and I've got a bunch of games to beat between the systems. I think I'll get a PS4 next, but for now, there's plenty of PS3 and Xbox games I still haven't gotten to. I sort of find that the graphics just aren't as important anymore. The games already look good either way, sure Killzone 4 looks great on PS4, but it's not like Sega Genesis to Playstation. Games are realistic enough, gameplay/story are what's the most important part. If Mass Effect 1 or Bioshock wasn't released until today, they'd still be good enough to win Game Of The Year or at least be nominated. But that's just my opinion.

Anyway, at that part, I found that the best move is to get as many shivs as you can and sneak up on those guys. Get the first one you see, then sneak up on the guy on the left, silently choke him out. Then run back behind the desk where you start in (there's a shiv on the left in one of the lockers) then enter the main room, get one of the clickers. Then run away again. When the infected see you, I usually beat them with a stick, then run away. If Tess gets grabbed, I shoot the clicker in the head, which gets her room for an escape. Then I hide behind the desk again. And I continue until I get all of them. Slow, methodical, steady.

Took me like 3 tries though

If it's the part that I think you guys are talking about, you can shiv the first one, then hop through that window on the right and not have to kill another clicker, just sneak through the rest of the area.

Garry's Mod- Extreme Throwdown Football.

Only one word to describe it: Epic.

I play Chess with a good friend. We are equals so both win and lose.....and I play a Tiger Woods, Augusta 12 version. It's to the point I beat him more often.

It would probably work that way in real life too.
Posted By: FloridaFan Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/16/14 12:47 PM
I just picked up Rocksmith for xbox360.

I consider myself a novice guitarist, I've been playing for several years after playing drums for 25 years, and have been playing bass for my church or the last 3.

Put in last night for the first time and played maybe 60-90 mins (I didn't get home until 9:30). Took a bit to get used to the string, fret info flying at me.

Started with a couple songs I actually know on guitar already, thought it might help the learning curve, but it doesn't really, maybe a little compared to someone who has never played guitar. So I cranked up "You Really Got Me" the Kinks version.

It starts you out with single notes here and there, not necessarily in rhythmic strumming with the song, more like a root note at a change (playing bass this was familiar territory for me). I did OK (92% accuracy), as I get accustomed to the system and style of play. Each string is assigned a color, you have the string horizontal across the bottom, and the frets in a perspective view flying at you (ala guitar hero). Checking both seemed a little cumbersome, but noticed I was improving as I continued.

With each attempt at the song, they start to throw more notes at you, even started seeing a few power chords show up. Now one thing I'm not sure I cared for was the choice of frets for the notes. For instance they chose to play a D5 at the 10th fret of the low E, where I would normally play it on the 5th fret of the A. BUT, I did start playing it with my choice on the A string, and most times it accepted it as accurate. I was a little concerned about how much leeway you have in the frequencies it's picking up to determine the note.

After a few rounds with "You Really Got Me", I decided it was time to move up, and chose another song am already familiar with playing, and chose "Cemetery gates" by Pantera. Again, 1 root note here and there to begin, next time added more, and so on. My accuracy dropped to 83%, which I attribute to the solo portion which playing a note here and there for the solo was a bit odd, and really threw me off, particularly when playing 1 note on 15th fret 1st string, then 9th fret on 3rd string with nothing between, but knowing there's a scale in between that gets you from one to the next, but not having it in the game (at least not at the song level I was at yet).

All in all I found the game fun, looked like there was maybe 20-24 songs in the list to work on. I'll have to see if there is a way to advance my position in the songs initially so I don't have to go through the 1 note hunt and peck levels. During setup it asked for experience level, I chose Novice, maybe I should have chosen intermediate, but based on the descriptions I felt novice was my level for the game.

Going to have to use the Jackson to play though, standing in front of the TV with the Les Paul or 90 mins started to take its toll.

I love Rocksmith. I need to play it more than I do. I heard Rocksmith2 is even better.

I am absolutely a novice at guitar so this is a wonderful thing. I just need to get myself a guitar. I'm using my son's 3/4 guitar for it.

" Garry's Mod is a physics sandbox. Unlike regular games there aren't any predefined aims or goals. We give you the tools and leave you to play. You spawn objects and weld them together to create your own contraptions - whether that's a car, a rocket, a catapult or something that doesn't have a name yet - that's up to you. Just beat AC Black Flag, so my next game (which will need to wait until it's released) - Tomb Raider for the PS4.
Started playing NFS Hot Pursuit last night. Fun game. Hadn't put that one in the console for at least a year.
I'm (more or less) reading every article available on the next iteration of Mass Effect. Bioware is starting with the "pre-teasers". Supposedly, it's already gone through its first beta test, and could be available this calendar year.

If it's a next-gen exclusive, I'm probably going to buy an XBOne.

Other than that, I just "beat" Assassin's Creed 4. I say "beat" because that ending was so weak, I'm not sure it qualifies. If a game doesn't have an ending, does that mean I never beat it?

Not sure what I'm going to play next. I never got around to the most recent Halo, so I could pick that up.

Any suggestions from my fellow gaming dawgs?

Games I've recently enjoyed:
Assassin's Creed 2, 3, 4
Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 (obviously, poor endings do not throw me off)
Batman (Asylum, City, Origins)
Skyrim (I am a little leery of diving into another game of this magnitude)
Borderlands is one of those games that's actually pretty deep with the content (not Mass Effect or anything like that) but it doesn't really feel that way.

I would definitely suggest GTA 5 if you have not played that yet.

You can get A LOT of gameplay with GTA V too. And not just boring game play "do this and blah blah" - it's actually pretty fun. Rockstar is a superb game development group. Trevor Phillips will make you LAUGH hardcore too!
I've played the first Borderlands. It was good, but I kinda got tired of it after a little while.

GTA5 might be a good option. I haven't played any of the GTA's, but it might be something I could get into.

I would also strongly suggest GTA V, if anyone hasn't played that one.

A question to anyone that played Ryse, How is that? that the only game that has me considering getting the next gen at this point. Otherwise I figure i'd wait till more titles are out.

a few people have mentioned to me that the lego games are a blast and that they are not just for kids. is there any truth to that, i am really hesitant to pull the trigger on lego's but the new Marvel one seem a bit interesting with all the character options.
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/25/14 03:14 PM
My brother was telling me about Ryse. He says it is pretty fun but very short, has a lot of QTEs, and it is kind of a button masher.

That to me is sad because it could have been really awesome.
Posted By: gage Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/25/14 04:22 PM
Buy ryse because my name is in the credits

But ya its definitely a bit of a masher... Graphically it looks the most next-gen though.

GTA V was good, but I don't think it was better than Tomb Raider or The Last Of Us.

Right now I'm playing Uncharted 1 (Just beat inFamous the other day) and I like both of those games a lot.

Really depends on what you like though. I've never been a huge fan of the GTA games. I don't like the mechanics that much. The shooting mechanics are bad, and it's hard to see your aiming crosshairs, even when you change your settings so you get a circle around your little dot.

That and I just don't care much for driving games. Liked the story a lot, and the game has plenty of replay value. Plus I love being able to pick it up and just cause some chaos. That's fun.

But overall, to me, if someone hasn't played Tomb Raider or Last Of Us, those are better games. May be not better bang for your buck, but better games. Although Last Of Us took me awhile to beat. +20 hours probably. And I'm one of those guys, once I beat a game, i'm done. I don't play again. Beat GTA V (did some side missions in the game as well) and haven't played it since.

Aside from the storyline and voice acting, Saints Row has been arguably better than GTA. SR the 3rd was so much fun.

True, but it might even include those that could be played indoors, like card names (pinochle was big in our family) and board games like Monopoly, Risk, Sorry, etc.

The outdoor games usually only lasted 3 seasons of the year. The indoor games were for winter.

Amazon just shipped my Tomb Raider, Definitive edition for the PS4 for me. If you only play third person games, like me, then you may be limited to what's available on the newer consoles until more games are released. Tomb Raider just released today (the 28th) so if you're a third person guy with the new consoles - it may be worth taking a peak at!

I got them for somewhere around that too. I'm enjoying Uncharted 1 & 2 as well. Mine was 12.99$ off Amazon too. I bought it Dec. 3, so it must have been with a Christmas or Lightnight deal.

Ended up downloading Uncharted 3's single player off PS+ and Uncharted for PS Vita off PS+ (both for free). I doubt I'd ever play any multiplayer Uncharted, so worked out amazing for me.

So I'm all in on Uncharted right now. And I'm 87% done with the first Uncharted too. I'd like to get to finish the game tonight, but I really don't think my significant other will let me......

I enjoy the game, but it's not as good as Tomb Raider or Last of Us (similar style, 3rd person shooter-ish). But we'll see with the 2nd and 3rd! Either way my Black Friday PS3 and the Black Friday sale games I bought this past year were some of the greatest deals around. Plus that PS+ membership I got for 30$ for 12 months. Huge deal

Petey - I'm just curious as someone who is having the Tomb Raider game shipped to me for my PS4, how is it? What kind of weapons do you get?

Spergon - as stated, and not knowing what you have/haven't played then Mass Effect 2 & 3, GTA V, the Resident Evil series are always fun, even the Racoon City game which was fun, but pretty short. Could pick it up cheap, as' well as others - on Ebay. Ebay or Amazon. Other games would be Last of Us, any of the Batman games (excluding the latest one only b/c I didn't get a chance to play it and can't vouch for it). if you're into stealthy games, then of course the Splinter Cell series is a must, as' well as Hitman Absolution.
Quote:

You get your standard array of weapons as you would in any game. Handgun, Shotgun, Bow and Arrow, and an axe. And then, you find parts along the way in the game that allow you to upgrade those. You have to find them though. And you find enough parts and then each weapon can be upgraded into a new weapon. Once you find a weapon, you have it. And once you upgrade a weapon, it stays upgraded. So it's not like you can only carry one hand weapon and one two handed weapon, and then you might lose them when you hoose to grab others, like Uncharted 1. Once you've got it, you've got it. There's not a variety of hand guns, shotguns, and Bow and Arrows either. You just can upgrade the one you find in the story along your way.

Your weapons also basically have a skilltree which you can upgrade them on using ordinary salvage parts. So you get weapon parts and then you get salvage parts. Salvage parts can be used toward all the weapons, where as specific weapon parts can only be used toward the weapon it's specifically for. (And weapon parts are a lot more rare than salvage parts).

Anyway, I found the weapons in the game interesting enough. Not a huge variety, but they're upgradable in various ways. And I remember loving that bow and arrow.

Cool, call me crazy but I love exploring around with hopes to upgrade weaponry. Sounds like it'll be a game that I will like to play then!!!!!!!!!

While I haven't played a FPS since Bioshock, may be....... 3 months ago (that and Killzone Mercenary on my Vita), I'll be going back to them soon.

My favorite thing about FPS is that I feel there's a real skill involved. It's something I don't get with the Third Person Action Adventure games. Or at least it's a different skill, and I like it a lot.

Just beat Uncharted 1, which I liked but I'd call it a poor man's Tomb Raider (although I mean, they were made like 5 or 6 years apart). But I'll probably be playing Killzone 2 next, and Far Cry 3 is on my Amazon Wish List. Eventually I'll buy it and play it. Just gotta love the shooting skill. It's kinda addictive.

Although Killzone I've always heard mixed stuff about, so if it's no good, i'll put it away. I got too many other games to play. I have Bioshock Infinite DLed to my PS3, so worse comes to worse, i'll play that, which i'm sure will be really really good.

But yeah, gotta love the FPS. There's just a skill to it that's addictive (IMO)

Oh I disagree. I bought this excited about it and heard all the great things, but it's about as deep as a puddle. Story is a joke, and it's repetitive. Take out base, move on, repeat. fun for the first couple of hours though.
I got a little more out of it than that, but I agree with you. Hunting quests were fun. Taking out the bases was fun, but it did get very repetitive.

Yeah, the story was dumb.
The story wasn't bad, although it was predictable and did get a little weird towards the end (especially the very end)

I thought it fun going around and shooting people and animals. Some of the takedowns were cool. I think the template is there for that game to get better. The wash-rinse-repeat cycle of missions is definitely an area that could use some better ideas.

As far as some of the games you mentioned, a lot of them I have played/owned. I haven't played Uncharter past 1, that may be a game I get into down the line, but I may actually use this card toward a board game. We're looking to play a game Saturday night.
Posted By: RocDawg Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/30/14 12:14 PM
I'll wade in on FarCry3, I can admit it did start to a bit repeaty. I have to say I still loved it. The Island was fantastic, Enemy AI wasn't bad at all. Hunting was ok, like how you needed pelts to upgraded pouch capacity and such. Vehicles were fun fun fun. take downs pretty cool. weapons solid.
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/30/14 02:56 PM
I agree with you, I liked it also. The only things I didn't like was how the protagonist was such a wuss and driving the ATVs was horrendous.

Agreed.

Everything gets repetitive after a while. I think the sheer scale and duration of the game is what may make the repetition seem to be too much. The constant exploration is both tiring at times and part of the fun. After having spent a fair bit of time seeking out towers & camps, lately I've been taking a break from that and instead focusing on doing Hunting quests, Kill quests, and searching for Relics. Between all of those sorts of things, I think there's enough variety amongst the repetition to definitely hold interest. That isn't to say that it can't be improved upon, because it definitely could.... in a game this long, you really need to be more inventive in how you present the same thing over and over again, but I don't think it is bad in any way.

I hear ya. Ironically when I was rocking a PS2 - I use to play the COD and Medal of Honor games that were first person, and liked them. Something changed though for whatever reason(s) - but now I cannot stand em'.

But Petey - played about a hour of Tomb Raider yday after I got it... I'm digging it. I like the games that kind of make you think a little bit instead of just killing everyone and blowing up everything. This games strikes me as a thinker with action. Anyhoo, so far so good. Upgraded my bow and my axe already!
Spoiler Alert

Farcry 3 Story
The part of the story that irritated me was that that one boss guy "killed" you, what, 3 times? 4 times? You keep coming back to life, and then you eventually kill him once in dreamland, and then he's dead. I thought that was really weak. Then the ending got super weird, but the story had already lost me by then.

End Spoiler

The protagonist grew on me after a while. I would've preferred his older brother to be the main character, but oh well. I thought it was a little far-fetched for someone who was such a wuss to turn into this gun-toting rambo guy in short order, but (as I mention above), that wasn't the most unbelievable thing in the story. I did enjoy his mental/psycho change throughout the game, though. His conversation about "winning" with the swimmer girl after rescuing her was riveting.

Yeah, and the you'll see, the Tomb's are difficult, but definitely worth it becaues you get lots of salvage parts and I think sometimes weapon parts in them.

But yeah, IMO that game got better and better. I thought the beginning was slow except for the scary part (you obviously know what i'm talking about). But it gets better and better. And you'll find more and more people to kill. But yeah, there's the thinking, where you have to find ways to make your way from one place to another ALA other Tomb Raiders and Uncharted.

It's a good choice. Def my game of the year candidate to go along with Last Of Us

I gotta agree about the ATV's though in Far Cry they were a bit difficult to steer. I focused on the race with on for a bit and got pretty good but that had a lot to do with learning the route, if you tried to free lance over unknown terrain you were in for some trouble.

Spoiler Alert !!!!

I absolutely loved the first time I learned there were gators in the game. Scared the living crap out of me.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 01/31/14 06:45 PM
The only thing I dislike thus far is it's extremely hard, to near impossible, to see ammo (like the arrows) and etc unless you're using the survival instinct. It blows cause it doesn't stay on unless you're at a complete stop. So I find myself constantly stopping, hitting L1 to look around, and then moving. It sucks you can't set Waypoints on the relics and documents stuff either, they're tricky to find, even when my map says I'm on top of it!

Other than that, I think the beginning has started off pretty good and not slow (yes I am aware of the scary part you referenced, lol, for sure!) Truthfully, i could easily sit down and burn two-four hours playing it if I had the time lol as the story and transitioning between tasks has been very good.
Are you guys talking about Tomb Raider, GoL (something of Light, I don't remember).

If that's the case, I just dl'ed it for free via XBox Gold. Win!

Yeah, that survival instinct was annoying, but if you get the upgrade where you find more ammo on people (or more ammo in boxes, I don't remember what it is). I think you find them easier. That and just get the upgrade where you can get your arrows back from people after you shoot them. Both aren't weapon upgrades, they're personal upgrades.

That kept me from having issues with ammo I think. I just killed most folks with the bow and arrow, pretended I was Rambo.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/03/14 10:34 PM
I was talking about Tomb Raider, Definitive Edition. This:

I will say, gameplay (set on Hard of course) was really easy. The tombs (I have one or so more to explore) are very easy. I've already beat the game's main storyline @ 86% complete and I haven't been on it really hardcore which is very disappointing. I'll finish up raiding the other tombs I haven't and maybe even do some more document.relic collection, but it's already beat and it feels like I JUST got it!

It's sometime I will keep though and will replay at a future date.

Just in case you didn't already know, a Rambo game is currently in development. I hope they do it right because that could be awesome.

That's the only problem with the game, too short. But I paid 15$ for it on Black Friday so I didn't feel like I was swindled or whatever. But that's the way I do it. I buy my games on really good deal or else I find single player ones that I run the GameStop scam on (buy it pre-owned, beat it within a week and return it for my money back. If I don't finish the game, buy it, return it. Then have my g/f go pick it up for me and she can return it within a week).

Only games I pay full price for (as of recent) would be Madden..... And that was mostly for the DirectTV Amazon deal.

And now I got PS+ which gave me a bunch of great Vita games and Bioshock Infinite. Got a year membership for 30$, what what

Currently I'm playing Uncharted 2, game is pretty sick........ And I have myself set up to play Witcher 2 when I get back to the tugboat I work on. This time I think i'll only bring one game, as I think that one will take me awhile and I should spend more time reading.

I'm sure I'll join the current generation soon because of Destiny, Thief, inFamous Second Son, Witcher 3, and whatever other games come out. I probably won't play that system as much as my other ones, not right away at least. Seeing as the graphics in games are already pretty good, I'm doing pretty well with PS3/360/Wii. I just have a lot of games to play AKA Uncharted 3, the Resistance Series, inFamous 2, God Of War 3, Killzone 3, Far Cry 3, Dishonored, Diablo 3, Dark Souls, and whatever Wii games (Zelda and Metroid and that sword one, Red Steel 2?) I eventually choose to buy. There's just so many!

Looking at what I've seen of PS4, the backgrounds are in more detail and I guess the main things you're looking at are pretty nice, but the step up seems to decrease every time a new systems come out (because your eyes/televisions can only handle so much). We'll see when developers have the systems for longer periods of time though. Although, if they hook one of these up for 4k TV, things could get crazy. I saw Sony's 4K TV today at Best Buy, and I was tempted to drop the 3500 on a 50 incher. Although it wouldn't be compatible with a lot of things I guess. But damn that demo was sweeeet

But right now Uncharted 2 is pretty sweet. Definitely a little more dialed in then Uncharted the original.

I feel ya. I wish I would have kept my PS3 as I'd be playing Batman right now!

As for the PS4, there are no third person games out that I know of, so looks like i'll be waiting before I get a chance to play a new game.

How did you get a year PS+ subscription for $30 bucks? I want that lol. I will say, Witcher 3, The Division and some other really SWEET looking game titles are being released this December for the PS4. Only bad thing is... that's an incredible long time away =[

Got my PS+ subscription Black Friday 30$ for a year. They did it last year too I think. Incredible deal.

Yeah, sorry man. Feel for you. I'm guessing you traded in your PS3. It's too bad PS4 isn't backwards compatible. Don't really know what to tell you, just that's a real long time from now.....

inFamous: Second Son comes out in like a month, that looks cool. It's 3rd Person and kind of reminds me of the Batman series. And I played Resogun for PS4 and that was pretty cool too. But it's really an Indie game, there's just not much substance to it. May be that Assassins Creed Game? Never played that one.

And Thief comes out soon, which is supposed to be cool, but that's 1st person. And Watchdogs should be coming out sometimes this Spring....... And I bet Witcher 3 is released before December at last. Still is a long way to go, how much did you get for your PS3?

I'm guessing there will be some other games between now and December that are pretty good too. There's always games that come out and surprise everyone......
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/05/14 11:05 PM
Yeah Metal Gear Solid and as you stated, Infamous 2 are coming out shortly so... Resogun was a free download for PS+ users for the PS4. Two other games, Warframe as' well which reminds me, I got that downloaded so I "do" have a game to play! The Evil Within I believe is also set to release in the next coming months.

I sold my PS3 (with two Sony controllers, Ghsot Recon Future Solider, Socom Navy Seals, GTA V and Hitman Absolution) for $175. Was listed on Craigslist and in three days, was sold. I'd recommend using Craigslist when the day comes you want to sell and upgrade to newer gen console!
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/05/14 11:20 PM
I am having a hard time finding a game out or coming out soon that even interests me. The only one that is on my radar is Watch Dogs, but I read an article where the devs dropped the patent or some non-sense.

I think I am just going to game on Steam for a while and maybe while I wait the system prices will go down and the game libraries will improve.

Can't say I've ever sold a console. Not my Nintendo, Genesis, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360 or Dreamcast. Or either of my Gameboys. They usually end up in boxes all dusty, and then thrown away. May be I'd consider it, but I dunno. I don't really like the idea of Craigslist, just makes me nervous. I'd consider eBay, but the shipping is expensive and by the time I'm selling that PS3 it'll make it hard to sell. I'll probably just buy a PS4 and keep my PS3. Same with that Wii that I never use....... And I imagine my Xbox360 will eventually break as it is put through the stresses of life on a tugboat. When that happens I'll be transporting the PS3 back and forth, and that'll probably go the same way.......... The Atlantic Ocean gets rough out there for everyone and everything, lol

Don't laugh. I've been playing some of the retro RPGs on emulator. The big two (three?) lately been:

The original Final Fantasy for NES. Great game, inspired many others. I played this 20+ years ago and at the time it seemed like there was a ton of grinding, lots of dying etc. In reality the game is very easy when you know how the game mechanics work and a team like fighter, fighter, red mage, red mage is obscenely overpowered.

On that note, I have played around with a hard version hack of that game made by Zzonkmiles. The game was rebalanced, making all 6 classes useable and effective, and the game itself is much, much harder. So while you can crush the last dungeon, Temple of Fiends Revisited in the high teens levelwise in the original, it was a legit challenge clearing that place out at max level 50 in the hack/challenge version.

Also have played some Final Fantasy 6 (originally released on the United States as Final Fantasy 3 for Super Nintendo.) Now that is a good game. The plot is as good as any and has amazing replay value for the freedom the game allows. Plus... Kefka
Posted By: cle23 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/13/14 12:57 AM
Kefka might be the most evil game villain ever. Most villains have their twisted reasoning for things. Kefka just loved killing. Final Fantasy 3/6 is probably my favorite of the series, with 2/4 a close 2nd.
Posted By: Haus Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/13/14 01:11 AM
Yeah the Kefka shrill is comical and evil at the same time. FF2/4 is another great game. You don't have any freedom in building your party and the gameplay is more linear but the plot and gameplay are both really good, although there really isn't a true villain in the game like Kefka. They build up Golbez as one but then Zemus/Zeromus kind of comes out of nowhere. Truthfully I'm more about the gameplay anyway but a good plot is always nice in an RPG.

Had a $20 iTunes gift card from Christmas and just bought FF6. It is my 3rd version I own. I have the FF3 SNES cartridge, FF anthology on the PS1 and now this version. FF7 is good and many people say it's the best but I always loved FF6 better. At least the story is way better IMO.

I liked the series up to 11. I beat 12 but it was meh.

I played FF13 for about 5 hours and haven't been back let alone want to play 13-2 & 13-3.

I won't play 14 due to not having time to play MMO's. Hopefully 15 can get the franchise back on track.

Well you done better than me, I lost interest after 7. I did love the 2 and 3 though. I could have maybe liked 8 as well, it would freeze up at the same spot every time and I never bought another cd.

I also really enjoyed FF Tactics.

It's been a long time but I don't remember any freezing on any FF game I played. I'm glad you mentioned Tactics, I think I put Tactics just below FF6 story wise.

I had a lot of hope for 12 because it took place in the same realm as Tactics but there was no direct connection and 12's story was not that great. 10 for that matter didn't have a great story line either but it was better than 12's by a mile.

Again I played 13 for about 5 hours and thought the game was trash. My friends kept telling me it gets better but IDK, I thought that maybe I'm getting use to Elder Scrolls and Fallout games that the linear JRPG's are getting old to me, but I'm loving playing 6 again on my iOS. I really think the story line is what drew me to Final Fantasy and it really started with SNES Final Fantasy 3(which is really 6) and then I later went back and bought SNES Final Fantasy 2 (which is really 4). I bought my PS1 because of Final Fantasy 7 and the PS2 because of Final Fantasy 10. I played Final Fantasy 11 for 4 years. After being dissapointed with 12 I waited on Final Fantasy 13 and bought it for $20 from a coworker. I'm mad I wasted $20.

Story lines I rank the Series

1) 6
2) Tactics
3) 4
4) 7
5) 11
6) 9

I should also note that I noticed a huge difference in the story telling after Squaresoft's merger with Enix to become Square-Enix.
I'm leaving to go to work on the tugboat i work on tomorrow, and I'm only bringing one game with me (it's time for me to get back to reading and catching up on some of my movie series).

Game I'm bringing is Witcher 2 for 360, and I'm pretty excited! I figure next time I'm on the boat I'll bring Dark Souls 2 and finish up the RPGs of last generation.

Like someone was saying before, there's just a lot of good games left to play, and I don't know if it makes sense to grab a PS4 for games I can either A) Get on PS3 or 360 or B) Just isn't that good. We'll see how good inFamous Second Son is, but I can't see getting PS4 for Killzone and inFamous Second Son yet. Might wait till Black Friday and see what bundle they're offering before I get into the next generation.

Odds are high that I won't be able to be patient enough though, and I'll get that PS4. But for now, Witcher 2 is gonna be cool!

Last game I beat was Uncharted 2, and that game was a blast. So I've got Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, Killzone 3 and probably some other game, for when I get home in a month
Got back into Wrestling games, so I busted out WWE 12. Does anyone have 2k14? Wondering if 2k did a good job with it?

I do want it just for the 30 years of WrestleMania mode.

I played the beta of ESO over the weekend. It was fun and the graphics looked good.
I have it, overall its pretty similar to the previous entries (12 & 13).

While 2K may have taken over, Yukes is still the team behind the game and it hasn't changed much, you really can't tell aside from the 2K logo being slapped on.

The Wrestlemania mode which is what I mainly bought it for. I really enjoyed last years Attitude Era mode and this Wrestlemania mode was set up the same. I personally had a lot of fun with it.

Seems like 2k14 has more wrestlers too. 12 had all the current guys but just a few of the classic guys.
Yeah, having the Road to Wrestlemania story they have all the guys included in that. The create a wrestler/arena is improved as well. you can get pretty much any old school arena you want and they look pretty sweet.

I've sold a lot of consoles on eBay. The shipping is a wash if you consider the buyer is paying for it. Sure, it's wrapped up in the total price, but it's really their fee, not yours.

As for the actual act of shipping, most of these systems aren't too heavy and won't be too pricey to deliver. And don't forget to get the insurance (though it's probably a pain to prove to the shipper they broke it. And even if you could prove that, wouldn't they just counter with your poor packing job?).

As for Craigslist, I don't trust meeting people in public with cash. I suppose the guy on the other ends knows my address through eBay because of shipping labels, but there's something weird about meeting a guy in X location with product Y to exchange $$$.

I'm still playing COD BLOPS2 for quick gaming fixes. If I have more time, I'll play Uncharted. I'm looking forward to buying the EA World Cup game (assuming they release one).

Not true, Ebay charges you auction fees on the final auction selling price of your item, and a certain % off the shipping price you charged, so technically now the shipping price is literally a fee to you (a selling fee), and the end-buyer. It's just a way for Ebay to get more money as they saw people were charging high shipping rates and letting their auction price be low, so they implemented it on the shipping to offset that and to make people enter fair shipping costs.

Ebay has become a total joke, I will no longer sell anything on there due to the the fees. By the time Ebay taxes ya, PayPal taxes ya - you don't really get much money at the end of the day for your items that are actually 'worth' money. I only buy on Ebay now.

I started back on my road to the show for mlb TS 13. I'm a pitcher for the Marlins, got up in my second year. Funny thing is, the Marlins did not make the post season in 2014 (we're still bad) so I of course simulated the 2014 playoffs. Guess who won it all? The Tribe, haha.

I was at first but I found out that it's basically a 2hr demo for $40. The real Metal Gear Solid V is Phantom Pain and it doesn't have a release date yet. Ground Zeroes is the first of a sub series of Prequels leading into Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain might not come out until December 2015
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/24/14 04:50 PM
I was wondering why the price for the upcoming MGS was cheaper than usual. Maybe I won't be waiting on gameday as I already paid 60 bucks for a Tomb Raider game with extremely short gameplay duration.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I'm not into blowing money for an evening's worth of gaming.
Posted By: FreeAgent Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/24/14 06:39 PM
NP, I'm a big MG fan myself and this is just Kojima ripping fans off. I'll wait till it's a free game on PS+ next year before Phantom Pain comes out. I'm not paying $40 for a 2hr game. No way.

HELL no! I'm actually quite thankful you mentioned what you did. Sounds like a rip off that I want no part of.
I'm sure there will be a box set in the future that includes that game..

I fully expect in about a year it to be free for PS+ members. I'll wait for that or until the price is Sub $20 if it doesn't happen before Phantom Pain.

Ground Zeroes is supposed to be the first a a few prequels. If that is three prequels, each 2hr game plays for $40, then in the end the early buyers will shell out $120 for 6 hours of game play and then another $60 for Phantom Pain which should be a full game.

Kojima is just using his name and Metal Gears popularity to rip fans off. I'm not buying. MGS4 was about 4 hours of game play and 5 hours of cut scenes. I had some hope for MGS5-Ground Zeroes until I saw the reviews saying they beat it in 2 hours.

By contrast The Last of Us-Left Behind DLC is about 2 - 2.5 hours of game play and it is selling for $15 or it is free if you bought the $20 season pass.
Yeah I never finished 4, because of the ridiculous amounts of cut scenes. SOL had a lot of cut scenes but I loved the storyline so much that I didn't mind.

I never finished 3 because I found it unbelievably difficult right off the bat.

Nothing beats Metal Gear Solid if you ask me. Storyline, gameplay, it was the complete package. I would love to see a reissue where they make it with next-gen graphics and gameplay...
Anybody getting the new Castlevania? It came out today and I'll probably pick it up on Friday. The demo has been available for about a week, but I haven't gotten a chance to try it.

The final cut scene is over an hour long. I remember beating the game a little past midnight and I had to work the next morning. Yeah, by time I got into bed it was about 1:30am.

I am playing Stryder on xbox one. So far its fun, its a button masher that feels like castlevania and metroid. I read that it can beat it in 8 hours or less, which I think is good value for $15 game.

Yeah, MGS4 was pretty bad with cut-scenes. I still enjoyed the game though, as after you initially watched the 5 hour movie, you could skip through it all in a replay. If you go for the badges, it can get quite challenging. Especially the hardest-mode/no-kills/no-deaths/no-cheats badge.

I'm just getting into Skyrim. Sure, I'm probably 5 years late to the party here, but with small kids around, I only have a 2-hour window late at night when I can really play it. My friend got a beta pass for 2 for the new Elder Scrolls Online game that's coming out soon. I'll have to see how that goes.

This is a good thread. I'm a huge fan of the Xbox 360 and have 25 games or so. I absolutely love Bioshock, Mass Effect and the Batman games. I'm currently juggling Batman: Arkham Origins as well as Bioshock 2 again.

I also actually just bought a Nintendo 3DS XL which is a pretty legit little gaming system. Playing through Luigis Mansion which is pretty fun.

Ha, thanks. I'm always interested to hear what games people are currently into, whether that be new or older games.

I'm still playing RTTS in the show. I held off on GTA 5 for awhile during the holidays and never got back into it, I may throw that in this weekend.
Mario Kart on N64!
I got NAPCAR '14 and have played a few races, it's pretty decent. There are far fewer glitches and bugs from the previous years, though there are still some there.

I was planning on getting Castlevania tomorrow, but have decided against it after watching reviews and playing the demo. I'm going to go with Thief instead.

Counterstrike: GO until they make a new counter strike.

All other game options are invalid and show a lack of professionalism in your free time.
Currently, I'm playing Crysis 2. It's ok, but I'm having trouble really getting into the campaign.

I just finished DragonAge 2. I was sorta enjoying it while I was playing it, but not enough to make up for the incredibly obnoxious characters. What does it say when you want to punch all but 2 of your team of buddies in the face all the time? The ending was terrible. The story, overall, was pointless and very short. Also, how are you supposed to level up your character when the story is so short? Ugh... Bioware, you are so much better than that.

After Crisis 2, I have the latest (for 360) Halo queued up and ready to go. That should be fun, and should make up for Crysis. After that, I'll be looking to get my hands on Red Dead Redemption, which should also make up for DA2.
Still playing Europa Universalis IV.
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/02/14 02:51 PM
I am a big Bioware and DA:O fan and I was pretty underwhelmed by DA2 also. I think part 3 is supposed to be lean more towards Origins, thank god.
Honestly, I'm really tempted to go back and start a new playthrough of Mass Effect (all three). None of these games are really doing anything for me.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/02/14 03:16 PM
That is something I regret not doing is AT LEAST playing the game (ME 2 and ME 3) with a different character. I used Soldier in both cause I like run-n-gun but wow. I am a BIG Mass Effect fan and cannot wait to play Mass Effect 4 which last I heard, BioWare announced it was in a playable state. This next gen game is surely one I will be preordering.

...

I will start Warframe today. It was free to download on the PS+ membership so I snagged it up for a rainy day. Although it's technically a snowy day, I got nothing else to play so Warframe it is!

I can't stand how these developers and publishers can't let a series die and deliver something new. Halo, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed were all supposed to be wrapped up. Yet, Halo 4 arrived after Halo 3, the newest Assassin's Creed came out after the series was said to be completed, and now a new Mass Effect is being made. I'm sure you can throw Gears of War on that list, there will be another on the next gen consoles.

I'm craving something new from video games. Unfortunately, no companies want to take a risk and they keep releasing the same game with a different cover. I'm contemplating getting rid of my PS3 and Xbox 360 and just sticking with my PS2 because of it.
Bioware closed the Mass Effect story in the third game. The next game will use the same universe, but all new characters and story. I'm fine with this, as that storyline is all tapped out.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/03/14 07:25 PM
They never said they would stop Assassins Creed series, least to my knowledge. They just start new stories with new characters (Ezio, Altair, Captain Kenway and Connor). I have no problems with this structure, however, that's just me. I for one hope that Mass Effect and AC series continues forever as it's few series I feel comfortable with buying/preordering on release day.

Very challenging game. I've also very recently started playing through it.

As far as Mass Effect goes I had to say that ME 2 was my favorite simply cause of the depth and all the characters you're able to encounter and add to your party. Loved the final suicide mission.

I'm very much looking forward to Mass Effect 4.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/04/14 03:16 PM
Mass Effect 2 was yÞn because of the improvement in gameplay. I'm an "RPG-light" kinda guy, and ME1 was a little too heavy with the RPG gameplay.

That said, ME1 is still my favorite. The story in that game was absolutely incredible. The twist near the middle of the game (Virmire) almost made me crap my pants. ME3's story was close, but that was mostly because the characters were so well fleshed out at that point. ME2's story was relatively flat, the surprises just weren't surprising.
Posted By: CHSDawg Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/04/14 07:24 PM
This thread has made me start a new campaign to replay ME. I always felt bad for not being able to save Jack at the end of ME2.

Not bad for a one man operation. Nice game too, except it's nearly impossible at the 'hard' level.
50.4% done with GTA5.... Yellow light of death on my PS3.
This sucks. This is the first Playstation I've ever had go out on me. It's an original 80meg big bodied PS3. I guess it's off to the shop tomorrow. Bummer.

Ouch man... I played my older gen model (big bodied) PS3 for years and no issues. Just blew it out with compressed air once a month and that was it. May be cheaper to buy a PS3 off Craigslist than to repair unless you know someone that can do it for cheap.

Either or, good luck. GTAV was awesome!
Don't want to lose this machine. It's got my game memory in it. So repair is the way for me to go.

Can't disagree as I probably wont ever buy one, but in times like this it would've came in handy. As in you would've been able to fix it yourself and not have to wait on someone else to fix it for you.
That thing has USB ports out the wazoo. I don't think that controller will see much use.

Got my PS3 into the shop. 3-5 days and I'll have it back. $75 plus $25 for a fan modification upgrade to keep it cooler in the future. Not bad to keep a 7 year old machine up and running.
buy a cheap usb stick and just keep it in the ps3 to back up your game files!
I'll be doing that now. Thanks for the advice.
I guess I always took my machine for granted. That'll it'll always be there. As I've said, I've owned Playstations since they've been introduced and never had one die. I gave my PS2 to a friend. He's still using it.

Yeah I don't get that. Is there that much going on in the game that if more than 12 players are on the map it lags? We were doing 8v8 back on the PS2/original Xbox.

Did you play the demo?

From my experience it seems 6 on 6 is perfect. You get the right mix of running into pilots and drones. With that said if it was 5 on 5 or 4 on 4 the experience was different and lessor. For the game to feel right it had be 6 on 6 any less and it was off.

I will probably still give it a chance, I'll wait for some reviews.

Just finished marathon gaming of South Park: The Stick of Truth on Sunday. If you are a fan of the show, you NEED to get this game!!! The gameplay is solid, the story is awesome and the references to the show are non stop and reward fans. It vaulted into my top 10 after the first three hours of playing. I wish it was about 10 hours longer or they had weekly downloads. That being said, I'm going to play through the campaign again, which is something I NEVER do in an RPG-type game. I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

I agree, I think its perfect because each person has a mech which can be summoned multiple times during the session. For example, I suck really bad so I call my mech 2-3 times a battle and I can have it fight by my side.

Also each faction has a set drones which makes it feel like its 12 vs 12 battle royal. Adding the mechs to the chaos really makes it crazy at times and really fun.

My biggest gripe is there is no real campaign.

Anybody else get a free beta key to the Elder Scrolls Online?

Just started playing, Unfortunately it was a 60 gig download and it's only good until tomorrow at noon but wow this game is amazing graphically, and the game play is as smooth as it gets.

Edit - The skill tree is looking better, just did some unlocking. I'm jumped the gun.

Been playing that Warframe. Don't really care for it too much. Even with no upgrades there is nothing challenging about any of the missions i've played so far. Everytime I start it up, there is always a huge file-sized patch that needs downloaded and installed. About to delete it. Guess that is why it was free lol!

Day Z, it's basically a zombie apocalypse simulator (yes i lol'd at myself for just saying that) massive multiplayer online.

Collecting gear and surviving is the top priority, you can die from dehydration and starvation. And zombies aren't what you have to worry about, it's the people with guns.

Yeah it's only in Alpha right now and there are a lot of bugs, but you are warned before you buy.

They just released a 1 gig patch so they are working hard on it, can't wait to see how awesome the finished product will be.

Yea I am pretty interested in it, but I will probably wait until the finished product is out.
Has anybody played Ryse on the Xbox One? If so, is it worth $45? I've heard it's really short but am wondering if the gameplay, graphics, and story could make it worth a $45 purchase. I'm debating pulling the trigger on it today.
Posted By: Lurker Re: What games are you currently playing? - 04/01/14 05:15 PM
I did not buy it because I was told that it was very short game play like 8-12 hours. I will wait until I can get it for $20.
I've heard that some have completed it in as short as 4-6 hours. It's the main deterrent for me. If I could get 8-12 hours out of it, I'd be fine with spending $45.

That said as a game it is very linear and pretty simple to play...

Would you spend $45 on it? I'm okay with it being linear as long as the story drives the game forward. From what I've read, the combat controls are pretty similar to Assassin's Creed and the Batman games and everybody praises those games for their combat. If they are similar, I'm assuming that Ryse also feels good when in battles.

Been playing Final Fantasy 13-2. 13 took me forever to get through. I didn't like it much at all, but 13-2 is actually really great. It uses the same battle system which scared me at first, but 13-2 seems to flow much better. Also, the story is a lot more open ended than 13.
Posted By: gage Re: What games are you currently playing? - 04/01/14 09:34 PM
Ryse is more basic but yea, it's a similar fighting style with attack/bash/dodge buttons.

I think $45 is worth it to showcase what the XB1 will be capable of going forward It's gorgeous.

Good to know. I think I have Final Fantasy 13. Started playing that game and put it away within an hour. Just not my kind of RPG style anymore. I was very into FFX (one of my favorite games ever), and I've enjoyed other JRPG's as well. But now I much prefer something like Skyrim, Witcher2, Dragon Age or Fable. Even Mass Effect and Fallout could be considered RPGs I guess.

I've thought about picking up one of the Final Fantasy's for my Vita. Although I don't find myself playing much of anything lately on my Vita except for this game Velocity Ultra, which is sick. The kind of game you can pick up anytime you want, levels are like 5 minutes a piece, and there's like 100 levels. It's probably an indie game or whatever, teleporting spaceship and you shoot the aliens.

I love PS+ and I got a great deal on my Vita, but I kinda wish I spent an extra 100$ and got a WiiU. I think I'm just not a handheld videogame guy. The only ones I truly ever enjoyed were Tetris way back in the day and Pokemon in middle school when those games came out.

Anyway, right now I'm playing Bioshock Infinite. That game is SICK. But the story is beginning to get quite confusing. I should beat it this morning and then I'll have to read up on the parts I just don't understand. Back in the day I didn't care (except for FFantasy X, that story I loved), but may be cause I'm older I really like videogames with good stories and I actually listen/read the dialog.

Next up will be Uncharted3. Both were free downloads with PS+. After that, who knows. I tried inFamous2, didn't really like it at all. Liked inFamous1 though. May be I didn't like inFamous 2 because I was going the bad guy route. I might try the PS3 resistance series.

I keep on thinking of getting a PS4, but there's no games besides inFamous Second Son that I wanna play yet. And I think I'm gonna go SONY because they've sold so many consoles, so it's probably gonna be successful, and because with the 360, I never cared much about their exclusives (Witcher 2 was good I guess, but the Gears of War games, eh, and Halo Series, while good, is something I'm pretty over. And Bungie is doing their own thing). Rather the PS3 exclusives like Last Of Us and Uncharted series I have loved. Uncharted 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, same with Last Of Us.

I just want to go on record that now that I've actually played it some and gotten use to the controls and mods - this game is actually pretty fun now. Plus you don't need a PSN Membership to play the missions with other people online...
Mass Effect 1 was definitely an RPG. 2 and 3... yeah, probably not so much. I thoroughly enjoyed all three, but I gotta say, the gameplay changes for 2 and 3 made it much easier to pick up the game again after beating it the first time. ME1 gets tiresome much faster because of the gameplay and the repetitive level designs.

I really want to try a "big boy" RPG, and I did play Skyrim, but even that game was a little overwhelming for me. I guess games like Fable and all those Bioware games are the ones that fall in my sweet spot.
Posted By: FreeAgent Re: What games are you currently playing? - 04/02/14 08:33 PM
Right now I'm playing:

Killzone SF - Just beat Chapter 8 or 9 last weekend. There are 11 chapters. Getting close to the end.

Lego Marvel - Play this with my son. (Snuck in a few levels when he went to bed...)

Final Fantasy X HD - Loved the original, needed to buy a game for my Vita and I bought the X/X-2 pack. I'm not far into the game now but oh the nostalgia. <3

Other than that I gave Dead Nation a try, meh reminds me of Smash TV on the NES. It's OK. I still haven't played Outlast yet which I heard was a good game.

On my PS3 I still need to play the Expansion for The Last of Us and I've been meaning to play Infamous and Infamous 2 since I got both for free with PS+ and before I buy Second Son I want to see if I actually like the games first. Other games to finish are ICO, Shadow of Colossus Demon Souls and Kingdoms of Amular.

I'm interested in Watch Dogs when it comes out also.

Too many games so little time.

Excellent. I picked it up for $45, but haven't played it yet. Thanks for the info.

Aint that the truth.

InFamous 1 I enjoyed, InFamous2 I juts couldn't get into the story and found it confusing. My buddy has Second Son, he says he loves it. I might try inFamous 2 one more time though.

I'm interested in Watch Dogs as well. I'm not sure I understand how it works, but it looks good and I always hear a lot about it.

And Final Fantasy X HD I've been really debating. I loved that game. My favorite game I played in the PS2, Xbox generation I assume. That or Medal of Honor Rising Son (for different reasons). Definitely one of my favorites ever. I'm just nervous that JRPG combat system will get real old for me real quick. Especially after games like Skyrim and Witcher2 which are RPGs which require more skill than strategically pushing buttons. I mean there's skill in FFX, but it's more strategy, who do you line up and what moves. Skyrim and even more-so Witcher require similar skills to action games I guess.

Oh, RPGs are one time beats never play again for me. Once I beat Skyrim, that was it. But I logged some insane amount of hours into that game. I could imagine that it can be overwhelming though. I work a job where i work a month and then i get a month off. Girlfriend comes home from work and she always would ask me what I did all day, I think I spent a month saying "I was in the world of Skyrim"

I don't know if you have 360 or not, but if you have 360, try out Witcher 2. I much prefer that to Fable. Same with Dragon Age. Those games are better than Fable. And I enjoyed Fable, but those were far better. Not as long as Skyrim either. And Fallout is a lot like the mass effect series. Fallout 3 and Vegas were great. Shooter RPG style. More like Mass Effect, less like Borderlands (which I consider close to RPG as well. It's in that shooter RPG category). Those games are great too.

Most of these games are cheap enough now that you can pick them up for not much at all. Beat them and move on. Man, I couldn't imagine playing an RPG more than once. Never done it. I mean, you already know what's gonna happen. In fact, I generally dont play through a game more than once, period.

I wanna play that Dark Souls game, but that one has me nervous. It's supposed to take awhile to beat. I don't really have that kind of time now.
I have a (probably unhealthy) obsession with Mass Effect. I just really enjoy the story, and there's enough variability in the side stories that it keeps me interested.

I might try another playthrough of Skyrim, but I could see that getting old pretty quick. Who knows.

I'll have to try Witcher 2. Is the first one not so good?

I just finished the last Dragon Age to be released, and it was a grind to finish. The first one was good, though.
Quote:

I'll have to try Witcher 2. Is the first one not so good?

I don't think that Witcher 1 came out on console. That's why I only played 2. It was pretty good. Took a little bit to get into. But I liked the combat system, and eventually I got into the story. Visually it was very nice too.

It's made by some Polish studio called Projekt Red or something like that, and it's based off a very popular book series in Poland. It's like an RPG but kind of a choose your own way. Your decisions make major impacts on the game, from what I've heard. I've only played through once of course, but that's what I read.

I liked it. But nowhere near how I enjoyed the Mass Effect series and nowhere near Skyrim.

But different people have different tastes. I liked Dragon Age (both, though I liked 1 more because I think you got to mess more with the weapons in the first?) and Mass Effect 1 was my favorite of the series (best for the story aspect, 2 and 3's gameplay definitely improved. 3 being my least favorite).

Of course criticizing any of the Mass Effect games is kind of ridiculous, as they're all pretty darn good and the series is probably my favorite video game series ever. Although I'm starting Uncharted 3 tomorrow. Uncharted 2 was a phenomenal game, so we'll see if they can match that, but they are starting behind because Mass Effect 1 is way better than Uncharted 1. If you don't own a PS3, it's really not that bad of a deal, just for the Uncharted games and for Last Of Us. If you enjoyed the new Tomb Raider, it's very similar style, just Uncharted 2 is better.

Since All you guys are into mass Effect. I'll share that I just started an older title i picked up for 10 bucks. Dues Ex:Human Evolution. I'm guessing I'm only about 1/4 of the way through & it reminds me a ton of Mass effect 1 specifically. Only in the world more similar to Blade Runner.

I'm enjoying it, but I just finally ordered Assassin creed black flag, so it might be in danger of falling by the side of the gaming road.

To the person that views skyrim or fallout as too bulky of an RPG for there gaming preference. I agree with the guy that mentioned Dragon Age. I have Origins and really enjoyed it. I would have actually played it again with a different class,(which is rare for me) except Skyrim landed in my lap shorty after and that was that.

I hope they try and get a 3rd going, and put a bigger and better team in charge of it... So much potential with that game.

The story is ok, the gameplay can get very repetitive, but flying around and parachuting all over the place never gets old... Plus the ridiculous map (bigger than GTA V I think) gives you lots of room to fly planes and helicopters...
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 04/03/14 08:12 PM
Really. The only time I play video games is when I go to my brothers, and we play 2k all night as a team in a different conference.

It's to the point every 3-4 years when we've built teams up to being dominant.. We switch to the worst teams in the game...

Beyond that, I don't play much really. Madden is utterly boring. NCAA can only hold me so long... And I only play COD when I feel like shooting someone, which isn't as often as you'd assume...

Buuuut I'm getting the Deadpool game here shortly, so that'll be funzies..

Deus Ex: Human Evolution is a phenomenal game. I rarely finish games because I eventually lose interest, but this was one of the few I completed over the past few years. $10 for it is a steal.

Since I got rid of my Xbox 360 and upgraded to the Xbox One, I can't play college football, college basketball, or baseball games. Since I still have my PS2, I just ordered College Hoops 2K8, NCAA Football '10, and MLB: The Show '11 from eBay for a total of about $15. Those should quench my thirst for those sports when I'm in the mood for them. Also, Battlefield 4 multiplayer is pretty great on the Xbox One with 32 vs. 32 matches. The graphics are incredible. Of course, I'm still logging serious time in Forza 5.

I've got this game on my Macbook. I play it when I visit my parents in Connecticut and don't have a videogame system.

I don't have any idea how far I am through it though. But I will say it's pretty good. Not Mass Effect good, but pretty good.

I do wish that I could play the game on a system instead of my computer though. I have a mouse for gaming on the Mac, but it just isn't the same as sitting on the couch with a controller in my hands. I've tried to reformat the game to fit my PS4 controller, but it just hasn't worked out. It's a total pain in the butt and I revert back to the mouse
Deus Ex is pretty good. The gameplay and story are both pretty good. I'd recommend this game to anyone that was interested in the Bioware games mentioned above.
I am Bolo Sanntooziiiii, I am part of the REEEEEEEEEparrrs.

I love that game. It's tons of fun!

I've been playing quite a bit of these two at the moment. I'm stuck doing a collect-a-thon in one and trudging through dungeons in the other.

How is that Wii U? I suspect I will get it soon enough. I have a bunch of PS3 games to get through, but then I will enter the new generation of gaming.

I want a PS4, but I feel that the Wii U will be dropping in price soon, and it offers something the PS4 and Xbox1 doesn't offer. And that's Nintendo 1st party games.

My plan, I'll pick up a PS4 for my normal gaming, and I'll pick up the WiiU for the nintendo games I always miss out on. I own a Wii, but it seems to be broken. My games won't play anymore, and I hate the motion controller thing anyway. I just like Mario Party (which I play with the g/f every now and then). But the WiiU has that gamepad which is nice. Looks ugly and stupid, but you put it in your hands and it's not bad. And I'll grab that controller to go with it (for when my g/f wants to play mario party and mario kart with me).

I think it's 300$ right now, but how do you like that system? I always hear there's no games, but how many hours do you say Mario3d and Zelda take? Then there'll be that Donkey Kong game which I enjoy screwing around on at Target.

How 3D is the new Mario? Because that damn Mario Galaxy got me so dizzy I started getting headaches. Is it like that?

Mario 3D is extremely short, maybe like 5 hours?

The new Donkey Kong is also pretty short but much much harder than Mario. I really enjoyed the challenge of DK, Mario was way too easy.

Zelda is much much longer, I am just over 1/4 of the way through the game and have spent probably around 5 hours on it. This is also my first Zelda game though since the SNES so I am exploring a lot.
I put in Metal Gear V over the weekend, it's fantastic. It's only the prologue to the main game that comes out later this year or next year and was short, but it was a great experience. I see a lot of replay value in it even though I completed all of the missions in about 4.5 hours, it will be fun to see how many different ways I can complete the missions and set my own objectives for myself (like completing a mission without touching and enemy). Anyway, very cool.

I purchased Child of Light on Xbox one this weekend. Its a classic turn based RPG. So far I enjoy it, great concept, I enjoy the story although it is kinda kiddy and cheesy its pretty cool.

It reminds me of the movie Pans Labyrinth in a video game form.

Currently playing MLB 14: The Show (PS4) and Mario Kart 8.

Will be playing some retro game as soon as my Retron 5 gets here on Wednesday!
Speaking of retro gaming, me and the girlfriend went out the other night to this place called Galloping Ghost. 15$ gets in you, and it's all old coin op games. All the classic games you can think of. All free play. No quarters. So awesome.

If you guys ever get out to Chicago, I suggest going there for a night. They're open from 11-2am every single day of the year.

UFC arrives in the mail today and I will be consumed by it. I love the demo and can't wait for the real game when I get home from work.

You guys should, I'm 32 years old, and it was a stroll through my childhood.

People that work there are very nice. They are true gamers. Turned down a liquor license because they knew that would drive away their own crowd. Kids, nerds, and not so much the bar scene.

He did say that your receipt is good for the day, so you are always welcome to go across the way to the nearby bar and come back.

Also, most of the games have a little card on the top that lets you know the world record score of the game, along with the building's own score. Some of them are the same. They've had several world records won in there apparently. Really cool stuff.

I think I probably would have dropped more than 15 bucks too. I put at least 5 bucks worth of credits into Operation Wolf.

It's not, but it is worth finding another avenue to watch, GREAT film. My wife hates video games and she loved it. You can probably rent it on Amazon for fairly cheap.

Phenomenal film, I own it on DVD. Also, if you're into that kind of documentary, see Air Guitar Nation as well. You will not be disappointed with either.

I've watched a good bit of this documentary called The Smash Bros. based on competitive Super Smash Bros.

It was quite interesting. These people take it to all sorts of levels. Going to people's houses they never met and playing in weekend long tournaments. I just don't see myself going to someone's house, sleeping on their floor, and playing a videogame all weekend

I wanna play that Dark Souls game, but that one has me nervous. It's supposed to take awhile to beat. I don't really have that kind of time now.

Dark Souls was probably one of the hardest game I ever played, it was more of an annoying enjoyable experience. Each weapon had a specific timings that you needed to figure out in order to beat NPCs. Every area was difficult, and its always a blast when another real player evades your game and hunts you down.

Its a time sink but you are not your forced to play, you can play an hour a day and still advance.

I remember one boss I died about 30 times. Another boss I quit the game for 3 months lol. (granted I am not a good video game player)

I got about 80% complete then my ps3 died and I wasn't able to finish it.

I've looked more into the game and decided I just don't have time for it. I want to play Zelda: Skyward Sword and I plan to grab a PS4 in the fall/christmas time. Mixed with some other PS3/Xbox games I still want to play, it's just not gonna be worth it I don't think

Currently I'm looking for a Mario Kart 8 download code for sale on Ebay, lol. But the kicker being, the Mario Kart 8 is registered to someone else's system, so I get the code for the game (as you can't have two Mario Kart's registered to one system and I already have one registered to mine)

I was out and about this weekend & noticed walmart had a new wolfenstein out, I loved the 1st game. Really cut my teeth with the early computer game wolfenstein, then Doom. Anybody know anything about this new Wolfenstein? I really only like first person shooters, and their getting harder to find. Like Black was a good one. I hope this new Wolfy is a first person shooter.

Agreed, my favorite FPS of all time as well.

It is a FPS, but no multiplayer. The story does look interesting though, not sure if it's worth dropping 60 bucks on. Bethesda did it, so it may be worth it.

Have it, Beat it, Loved it!

They focused solely on the game so there is no multiplayer. Great story and plot , many vulgar funny one liners.
Classic Game Room is a youtube channel that reviews games, new, old, you name it. I trust the guy very much, because I don't think he's ever influenced by anything other than the game itself. He doesn't play favorites with publisher or teams or any of that.

He was in love with this new Wolfenstein. He said it's like someone took an old Wolfenstein game, cloned it with Bioshock, and put 2014 graphics on it.

Although I did ask him about it, and he said if you can wait until you own a ps4, you will be rewarded with a better experience. Apparently the ps3 version just isn't that great. It will be a game I pick up whenever I decide to buy a ps4. Probably not until 2015.
Posted By: Lurker Re: What games are you currently playing? - 06/19/14 02:25 PM
I loved it, sometimes I was squealing like a school girl because of the craziness. For most of the game you can play stealth, or just balls to the walls, competently your choice. But when it gets hairy, its really crazy and i was playing it on normal, I can't imagine if it was on the "Ubier hard". There are more modes you can unlock to make the game harder.

After playing Wolfenstein I put in Titan fall and now I will be selling Titan fall because Wolfenstein was just more enyoyble to play.

There is also a cool easter egg in the game which I won't spoil unless someone wants to know.
Thanks to all for the info. Looks like I'll be picking it up. I really don't want to spend that much, but I just got a gift card so I won't have to Thanks again
Started Bioshock 2 over the weekend. I forgot how awesome those games are.

Today I'm gonna look for another game to pick up and I'll keep working on New Super Mario Bros. U or Donkey Kong. I think I might grab the Zelda: Skyward Sword game. That's one of the Wii games I always wanted to play
Posted By: Kingcob Re: What games are you currently playing? - 07/30/14 06:27 AM
I've been hammering away at starcraft 2 lately with a tiny bit of terraria tossed in.

My friends and I are anxiously awaiting Smash Bros for Wii U....and I occasionally can cajole them into getting stomped in the gamecube version
If you have the Wii U and like old school nes platformers, check out Shovel Knight, its a downloadable game, i think like $15. Its fantastic, one of the best games of the year. It has elements of mega-man, ducktales, castlevania, a little zelda 2, its a lot of fun.

Honestly, not that big of a fan of the NES Old School Style Platformers. I bought New Super Mario Bros. U for my girlfriend. I'm just trying to get her better at the controller so that she can enjoy videogames more. She gets frustrated cause I'm so much better than her. Donkey Kong was more of a mistake to buy. What I like about both games though, is like Mario Kart 8, I can grab it, play 20 minutes, and then turn it off.

Donkey Kong I find to be eh, but Super Mario Bros. U is a very well polished game. Not necessarily my style (my favorite games are like Mass Effect, Fallout, Uncharted, Last Of Us, Skyrim), but very well done. That's generally the way Nintendo games go though. I'm sure I'll eventually beat both Mario Bros U and Donkey Kong, but I don't really see myself playing anymore of that style.

Games like Dragon Age and Destiny are coming out. Witcher 3. Even the Nintendo ones like Zelda U. And so on. Fitting in more 2D Platformers will be far far far on the back burner. Kind of like Indie games, I just never had the time to get into them

You can't do that with a game like Skyrim or Far Cry 3 or whatever. Those I feel like you have to put in like an hour at a time at least.

Today I'm gonna go grab Zelda Skyward Sword over at gamestop and see how that goes.
Super Mario 3D World is the better mario game on WiiU.
Quote:

Yeah my girlfriend and I love that game. But it seems kinda short. I shoulda grabbed that at Gamestop today and I could have returned it at the end of the week. We'll beat it in another week. I've been keeping track of its price on Ebay and i'm waiting to jump on it when it gets down to 25-30$
RISK finally became available on Xbox LIVE last night, so I happily paid the $15 and squeezed one match in. That will probably become my most heavily played game again like it did on the Xbox 360. It's made by Ubisoft this time and done well. I just wish they allowed for the classic game board instead of the futuristic Battleship kind of display. Oh well, it's still extremely fun.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 12/18/14 02:23 AM
So after beating Lords of the Fallen, which was a big PITA, but it was challenging and fun, I picked up the new Assassins Creed for PS4.

Thus far of all games I have played on this console, this game has got by far the best graphics. It's pretty amazing IMO
Have you played the new Call of Duty? I have both CoD and Assassin's Creed and CoD's graphics are ridiculous. Assassin's Creed's characters still look like they're made of plastic while I sometimes have difficulty distinguishing the difference between a video game and a movie with Call of Duty.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 12/18/14 02:04 PM
No CoD, cannot stand first-person games but if the graphics are better, then I'm going to ask a buddy of mine who plays all the CoD's to demo it for me.

Best part is, I don't think any game released yet is truly pushing the limits of the PS4 and etc.
Yeah, have him show you CoD, it's crazy. This is the first Call of Duty I've bought in about 3 years because I'm not one of those guys who has to get its annual release, so I'm happy with the differences between this one and the last one I bought.

You're right, none of these game developers are creating games with graphics even close to what the consoles are capable of yet. That probably won't start until the PS3 and Xbox 360 start dying. I'm guessing by this time next year, graphics will blow us away on a consistent basis.
I don't see that much of a difference on COD between last gen and this gen. I have both versions and play both (have friends on both gens and the ps3 version came free with the ps4 purchase)

The opening sequence is amazing, but it's the same on ps3, its just a movie though basically, not actual gameplay graphics. The actual gameplay isn't that much different.

Yes, the PS4 is definitely better, more clear and crisp, but i don't see a huge difference, not like some other games on this gen.
I wasn't sure how the PS3 looked, but that opening sequence definitely looks amazing. I think the single player campaign looks awesome on the Xbox One, very crisp. I would have suggested Ryse, but that's only on Xbox One. So far, that might be the best looking game on consoles. I only have a few games on PS4, so I can't suggest many games for that console in terms of graphical power.

-The Last of Us
-Moto GP14
-Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
-Injustice
-The pool game (can't remember the title)

That's my PS4 library. The Last of Us is by far the best of the group, but the graphics aren't superb since it's basically a slightly modified port of the PS3 version. The replays on Moto GP14 do look great if you want to sit and watch replays of your races.

I've been trying to get Wyoming invited (NCAA 11) to the Big 12 for 2 seasons now..

I can only destroy Iowa State and Baylor so many times before I get bored..

I kind of miss NCAA 14.. Mostly the ability to start as an Assistant Coach..
Yeah in 13 you can move the teams yourself. I had to do a serious overhaul because of all the changes in football. It doesn't work perfectly either because the WAC is still a conference in the game, and you can't wipe it out. You have to keep a minimum of 4 teams. It's basically the independents.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 12/24/14 03:32 AM
Right.. That's why I got 11 (Plus it was $5)

I missed the idea of being INVITED to a conference.. as opposed to just "Well I guess I'll move to the Big 12 now.."

But It sucks cause neither the B10 or Pac 10 have Conference title games..

I wish they had made it an option in the newer ones..

Still playing Assassin's Creed. I've got really bored with it. There isn't much in this game. I liked the other one where you could hunt and etc. There are a lot of missions to play but most are similar. I do like the murder mystery missions which is new.

I think that they're releasing too many games on this series which is burning it out fast.

I used to love the series in its early stages, but it became too much for what I wanted in an assassin game. I don't care to gather teammates, train them, collect money, and upgrade cities and buildings. I just want to kill digital targets.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/05/15 03:02 PM
Not really much of that in the new one. But still, I don't think I'll be pre-ordering the ne t AC game which knowing them, is going to be released in another month or two.

They should really take the time to renovate the game series and come out with one awesome game instead of a bunch of so so games. The Pirate AC game wasn't "spectacular" either.

Funny, I posted this back on Dec 2013.....and I'm STILL playing COD BLOPS2.

I might throw in Uncharted and play for a while, but I'm still shooting away with Blops2. I rented COD:Ghosts and really disliked it. The newest COD was ok, though I didn't like the jetpacks.

I might start thinking about a PS4 or XBOX:One, but that is till a decision many months away.

I am 8-1.

Very realistic.
Up that difficulty. I'm an excellent NCAA player and struggle to beat the likes of Toledo at times. Set it to Heisman difficulty, turn your sliders down, and turn the CPU sliders up. It's so much more fun that way instead of never facing a challenge.

Punch.... if you like shooters, have you tried the Crysis series? Good fun...longish solo campaign and enough tweaks to add some different elements to gameplay.

I've been replaying the Mass Effect series. Just restarted the third one which I actually havent finished yet.

I got my Sliders from Operation Sports.

I'm pretty good.
Nice, that's where I got mine from too and used as a base difficulty. I have altered them a bit, though, to make the game more challenging. If you're 8-1 with Akron with the #1 QB in the country, though, I think it's pretty obvious you should make it more difficult for yourself.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/06/15 08:20 PM
I still have trouble running the ball, hence why I pass so much. My QB accuracy is already down to 5, and there is a consistent "bad pass" theme going.

As the OC I'm ganna have to wait till I get a HC job to see how the defense goes, may have to tinker with that.. I like a challenge, but don't want to make it to where stupid things happen..

Like the one time I played NIU and their RB had 150 yards on 8 carries.. all of which were draw plays up the middle, that he broke a total of 12 tackles on..

I watched this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7gg8svG78k but it's a lot of stealth stuff. I like more straight up action, but it looks freaking incredible.

I rented FarCry4 and it was okay I guess, but it didn't light a fire in me enough to buy it.

I might be due for a sports game, maybe NBA2k15. Although I heard the myCareer feature is HORRIBLE. I'd probably just play a few exhibitions here and there.

Not as much as you may think. The cloak adds an interesting little element but straight up firefights are still the base of the game (especially given you also have an "armor" mode).

Next time you're at a gamestop, see if they have a used copy. Easily worth the 5 or 10 bucks.

Well... I'm in a bit of a conundrum here. Just saw a commercial for The Order and I thought it's release date was late this year. Nope, it's the 20th of this month.

I'm nowhere close to beating Assassin's Creed and I hate playing two games at once/starting another without finishing one. Ohhh the decisions that I must make, lol! The Order was a game I started drooling for after watching the trailer for it!

Anyone else thinking about that game?
I will own it on the 20th, even with numerous other unfinished games. It looks great, I just hope it isn't another Gears of War. The gameplay I've seen reminds me of that overhyped frachise. My fingers are crossed that it will be something fresh.

After one season as Akron's OC.. Tommy Bowden took another job (Miami (OH).. Really?) and after a bit of consideration, I took the promotion..

Hopefully I can fix the defense that cost me the MAC title last year..

The Order is the one game that makes me seriously contemplate going PS4. Looks good. The premise sounds badass. Just cool the whole way around.

Im not getting another Next Gen until they start making College Football games for it..

Ill be fine playing NCAA 14, lesser graphics be damned, until then..

Yeah I made my mind up that Assassin's Creed will have to wait if I'm not able to beat it by the 20th. The Order just looks too awesome to wait lol!

You might never buy another next gen system. The Ed O'Bannon legal battle ( WikiLink), has changed the landscape of college video games.

There will most likely never be another NCAA College Football game..

That won't stop people from making a college football game, teams and networks can give rights to EA/2k without the NCAA..

All you have to do is not tell the announcers to secretly put current players names in the game..

THe last couple of NCAA games didn't have real names in them if I remember correctly. Luckily, there's users that develop the real rosters. Thank you Mr. PastaPadre.

They have never had names on the college football games. And Pastapadre doesn't create rosters with names, he just tweets or posts the rosters once someone else finishes them.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/12/15 10:00 PM
One of the tipping points in the lawsuit against EA/NCAA was that even though no one was named, they would make QB #5 look exactly like Braxton Miller, and have his home town and everything..

Then there was the idea that knowing people would go through and name the rosters themselves, EA had their announcers go through and record all the names of current players, even though there wouldnt be names in the game..

Just picked up Farcry 4. Amazon had it on sale for $30. Couldn't pass that up. Checked CartWheel which is a target app and they had a 30% off coupon for Farcry 4.

So Target priced matched game for $30 then applied coupon and I walked away with Farcry 4 for $22.

I played the beta. It was fun the first couple hours but got repetitive and boring after a few matches. I would wait for it to go on sale, I don't think it's a 60 dollar game.
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/16/15 04:15 PM
I was afraid of that.
I'm still playing Destiny. It's fun, and the main reason it's fun is because I have a small handful of friends I can play with online. That said, I can see how people have gotten bored of the game quickly.

Never mind, not getting it now. I read that someone who has the game posted a video on YouTube (it has since been removed) of them completing the game in 5 hours and half of that was watching cinematics with a button press here and there. I'm not paying $60 for 2.5 or 3 hours of gameplay. I'll wait until it's on sale for $30 or less before I think about it. That's unfortunate.

Project CARS is the next one I'm waiting for, but it just got delayed again until April.

Yeah man... I heard that too, five hours of gampleplay for 60 bucks? I'm sick of gaming companies doing that, there is no multi/co-player either. I assume they have a ton of DLC content available to buy which is a RIP OFF if the game only takes five hours to finish up. That's worse than Shadow of Mordor. Games shouldn't cost 60 bucks if the gaming companies continue to do this type of crap.

Hopefully they are not factoring any side missions or anything, but in any case it deflated my excitement I had for it. Looks like I'll finish up Assassin's Creed and then move onto The Evil Within.
Posted By: jb52 Re: What games are you currently playing? - 02/19/15 03:24 PM
It seems like most FPS games are like that anymore, but at least they have multi-player. I just picked up Homefront on steam for like 4 bux, and it is the same way. It is a pretty good game but very short campaign. The multi-player is still decent so for $4 it was worth it.

The Order is being panned by everyone. Here's just a sample.

This was the one game I was really interested in for PS4 and made me consider making the switch when I go next gen. Looks like that factor is off the table.

The Order is actually third person, which is why it drew a lot of interest for me. But no multip player, short story line - I'll play something else.

Yeah it doesn't seem to be doing too good. Quite frankly, I am glad I held off before preordering it. I have no qualms waiting until it's cheap on eBay, which shouldn't be too long.

How is that? The gameplay looks awesome.

Loved 3. Fun storyline. Game didn't take itself all serious. Tons to do do and explore.

Well I finished Assassin's Creed Unity on the PS4. I got some side missions to complete at some later time, but the game's storyline was weird. You get kicked out of the brotherhood and just, I don't know. It made no sense to me.

I just saw that the original Resident Evil was remastered in 1080p for the new gen consoles. I cannot resist this! For only 20 bucks off the PS Store, I for sure cannot resist this!

I couldn't even finish it... Scared the crap out of me..
HAHAHA!!! Yes, it was a very well done playable trailer (PT) for the new Silent Hill game. With Guillermo Del Toro involved with the new Silent Hill, I expect it to be of high quality.

You should get the new Alien game and try just that; I hear it's a riveting experience!

I did something similar with the movie Zodiac as I was waiting all night to leave for a 6am LAX flight. That was a bit unnerving...

I'm trying to figure out which older version of Madden I want to get..

15's great and all, I'm glad they've brought back Owner mode.. I just really hate how they have it set up.. The menu's and everything are a chore..

I'm thinking Madden 08, One of the last one's prior that had a great Franchise mode.. I missed being able to do ticket prices, and all that silly stuff..

I have a hatred for EA, and their seemingly need to take out great things, only so they can bring them back a few years later as "new features"

For those interested in The Order, you can find several copies on eBay now for pretty much half the retail price. Pretty pathetic factoring it was released recently. thumbsdown

Thats why I stick mostly to Sports games and Call Of Duty..

I know at least at the base of what I'm getting, and there is replay ability..

I'm too worried I'll either buy a game and it'll suck, or even worse.. I'll beat it in a week..

Was telling my buddy today that I don't think I'll be pre-ordering anymore games. The last two I pre-ordered were not much to write home about and I was seconds from doing it again with The Order. Guess gaming industry taking a note Outta Hollywood movie industry and just plan to release crap in large quantities instead of quality in smaller.

60 dollars, and not that I'm hurting or tight with money - seems pointless anymore for most new releases.

Yeah, I plan to pull the GameStop, Buy pre-owned and beat in less than a week (for a full refund), then return move.

Essentially the free rental.

The reality is that some games are just like that. You just have to know which ones, and factor that into how you purchase.

Currently I'm playing FarCry4, but I'm inbetween homes and don't have any videogames set up, and I'm about to leave for Costa Rica for two weeks. So I'm not playing many videogames at all. Unfortunately, I'm playing FC4 right after Dragon Age Inquisition and that's a hard standard for FC4 to live up to. The game's sorta entertaining, but I'm sure I'd find it much more enjoyable had I not played last year's game of the year (and a game I loved) before it.

Alien isolation. ..
Damn scary
I've exhausted all my GTAV time. I'm waiting on something good for PS4. Uncharted, The Last of Us, Alien, and all the FPS (CoD/Destiny/etc.) don't really appeal to me. Mordor sounds decent, but I think it'll lose my interest.

I'm killing my time with these ones:

Just a simple beat 'em up with a good touch of Nintendo charm. Totally different than all the other Zelda games.

Sonic is an absolute beast

Fun platformer with a great artstyle and soundtrack

Well, that is a bit dishonest and might run then out of business. I got crushed on here a few years back when I admitted going into a local shoe store, trying on my size in a particular brand, and then going online to order it 20% cheaper. Now sure, they're still in business today, but I understand how I used a local brick N' mortar without considering their effort to serve my community. I'm not calling you out, just reminding, if you abuse them, they might not be around too long.

Here's what I do, I rent the game from RedBox for a few days to get my taste or beat it (might cost me $2-$10). And if I do buy it and find myself done with it 2-4 weeks later, I sell it on eBay for 70-75% of the cost. Even then, it's not costing me all that much per day.

Just a thought.

Gamestop isn't going to run out of business any time soon..

Not when they can give you $10 for a game and turn around and sell it for $30...

And that's if you get 10...

But we're not talking about they're trade in and resale business. We're talking about people buying a brand new game, using it for a week, and then returning it for a full refund (which forces Gamestop to sell the game as used).

And it doesn't really matter if their business model is making them tons of cash or not. Ultimately, is the practice that's been talked about dishonest and does it lower their bottom line?

Look, again, I got crushed on here for taking advantage of my local shoe store. I remember people telling me I should be ashamed of myself for using their time and turning my back on them to order online. I'm just saying, this sounds similar (taking advantage of a brick N' mortar store when we should be supporting them).

I'm not posting this to point my finger and shame anyone, just reminding the board like the others did for me a while back, "support your local businesses".
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/10/15 02:31 PM
I think theres a difference between a "local store" which I assume is privately by one person..

And a corporation.. The Walmart's of the world.. who would rather let you steal from them, then possibly have their employee's getting hurt trying to stop them..

GameStop is the Walmart of video games..

Plus you can't do that with brand new games, only previously owned ones, of which they have marked at ridiculous prices..

I bought FIFA 13 Used there for 17.99, took it home and it had a huge scratch on it, wouldn't play.. took it back..

They gave me a different copy, of the same game, that was marked at 43.99..
Posted By: Punchsmack Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/10/15 03:02 PM
Okay, sorry, I wasn't aware this was with USED games only.

Maybe they have this policy in place with the full understanding that people will do this and they're okay with it because it brings them back to the store. And they figure the shopper will eventually find the game they want and keep it.

I mean, i once threw my controller in a fit.. and it wouldn't work right.. but wasn't visibly messed up..

So I went to Walmart and bought a new controller.. Then took the old one back in the box and got my money back..

So I may be the wrong guy to ask..

And by "once" i meant like 5 separate times..

I'm not above it, I've pulled that move a few times on Walmart. They're deserving. They have 20 checkout lines but 3 or 4 cashiers working and they always have a full parking lot.
Posted By: Punchsmack Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/10/15 05:19 PM
That's the same as stealing. Aside the fact I'd never do something like that, if I did, I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror.

I gotta ask then...how do you morally defend something like that? You can't use the "Wal-mart and Sony are big corporate entities so it doesn't matter if I cheat/steal from them". Cheating/stealing is still cheating/stealing, no matter who you're doing it to.

And Psydeffect, if the store is crowded and you aren't getting the service you want, go to another store. That doesn't give you the green light to cheat/steal.

Dang, I'm surprised how open you two are about this and think the behavior is somehow rationalized.

OK. Fair enough. Again, I'm not judging you. I can easily list quite a few bad/questionable things I did when I was a teenager or early 20's. I guess I've changed a lot since then.

I'm not sure if I truly believe in karma in all aspects of life, but I apply karma to things like this.
Don't mistake this as me saying stuff like this is ok to me, or I do it.

Companies like Wal-Mart and Game stop are all about the $. If this type of stuff was significantly hurting them, they'd change their policies to get back in the black.

Pizza and your favorite toppings. Go.

Nah, let's go back to games.

BTW, I'm still playing COD:BLOPS2. I just raised my KDR to 1.54 and have over 43,000 online kills. The online community is still quite active for this game.

I was looking at a PS4 over the weekend, but the price is just too high. I know the newest FIFA on the PS4 looks like perfection, but I can still get down with the PS3 version if I need to.

Maybe I just need to wait for another price drop (or that I'd rather put my money into my motorcyle, shoe collection, get another tattoo, or buy a new snowboard).

I looked at the upcoming PS4 games and nothing jumped out to me with "YOU NEED A PS4 FOR THIS!".

I was thinking about buy Super Bomberman off the PS Store and playing with my girls (wife and kid). It's only $9 but I'd have to buy two new controllers. Hrmmmm....is that worth $90 (Amazon sells controllers for ~$40)?
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/10/15 06:11 PM
I think you'll be waiting awhile, a very long while, before you see a price drop. I'd sell that ps3 as longer you wait, the less you'll get outta your console and gear. I listed mine on Craigslist the minute I fired up my ps4 for the first time lol.

Batman and The Division (unknown release date) are on my radar. So is others like Witcher III, set to come out this May, looks really good! There actually a few games out now that I wish I had the time to play.

PS4 is awesome, but one cannot fault for throwing the 400 bucks on something like a motorcycle!!!

It's not something I do often, I've maybe done it a handful of times in my life. You're right about going to another store, I do now unless I absolutely have to go to Walmart for what I need. Also the crappy store we have here in town doesn't have self checkouts either. flamingmad

I still don't feel bad about screwing over them over, just the next guy who is buying that product and opening the box to a defective item. I do feel bad for him since he will now have to go through the return process.

But back to the topic on hand...I guess nobody else is playing Dying Light?
"I know the newest FIFA on the PS4 looks like perfection..."

Not at all. I have FIFA 15 on the Xbox One and the players still look like they're made of plastic. I'm really disappointed with the character models of EA games on next gen consoles, aside from the UFC game. FIFA 15 is crisp looking on next-gen, but not that much better than the PS3/Xbox 360 versions. You're not missing out with that one.
"But back to the topic on hand...I guess nobody else is playing Dying Light?"

I am, but VERY slowly. It seems like the kind of game I can only play in small chunks because I want to keep going for a longer stretch of time than I have available in one sitting. It's fun so far, though.

Great game, if the map was bigger it could probably be dubbed the Skyrim of zombie games. But the world isn't big enough to justify that claim.

All I can do right now though is find a safe house and sleep until night. Love how they did night, it really separates their game from the rest in a genre that is very overdone right now.
Cities:Skylines

Top notch city builder (completely offline) for 30 bucks via Steam. All kinds of modding that is only in the early stages.

Really enjoying the game so far. They were inspired a lot by Sim City, I see a lot of SC4 which is still a wonderful game) I just wish there were just a few minor things they would have adopted.

I'm currently playing Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars with my son. We've completed just about every lego game there is, good bonding stuff.

Yeah, I'm a very play it by the rules guy. It says it right on the receipt. Buy a used game and return it in 7 days for a full refund (with the receipt) no questions asked.

They usually say "You didn't like the game?", and I straight up tell them "It was too short"

A lot of times they win when a kid buys the game, forgets when they bought it, etc. and then they paid a huge mark up on a used game that they finished in a week. That or they lose the receipt.

Me, I'm an adult with a system. It's my money, and I pay close attention to when I bought it. And even at that I've screwed that up a few times. And I always put the receipt in the box when I buy it (so I never lose it).

I buy plenty of games from them as well.

Anyone considering getting Bloodborn? The trailer of it is enough to interest me, but thats about it. It's releasing next week.
I'm considering it. I believe it's made by the same people who made the Dark Souls games and I've heard they're brutally difficult. You might want to check one of those out to get a feel for what's in store for you.
Posted By: Dawg_LB Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/20/15 02:20 PM
Let me know what you think if you pull the trigger on it. I played, and liked, Lords of the Fallen which is/was suppose to be like Dark Souls, so I'm keeping an open opinion about BloodBorn.
Right around this time when free agency and the draft news starts to pick up, the only game I'm playing is Madden. I'm one of those people who likes to have 100% accurate rosters and make the game as real as possible. This year I'm finding that I like the game better. There are little improvements on the defensive side, training drills (reminds be of old Madden's), and I love that the punting\kicking game has been completely re-though (prob. most realistic and fun I've seen yet). The last version of the game I had was Madden 25 on PS3 but now I'm on PS4 so there's quite a difference in everything, pretty nice so far.
Fair warning to anyone considering picking up Sid Meier's Starships from Steam: Don't.

It could get good, but in it's current state it isn't worth the download, much less the money. Decent concept poorly executed. Very underwhelming.

I suppose even Sid Meier is due for a clunker every so often.

THat's disappointing as I heard "Beyond Earth" was kinda craptastic as well.

Guess I'll stick with mods on Civ 5 for another little while.

I bought Madden 25 on my Xbox360 and was pretty dissapointed. The deal was great because I got the Sunday Ticket Streaming thing via Amazon or whatever.

But, overall, the game was undrwhelming. I think the last Madden game I really liked had to be in 08 when I was a senior in College. Just looked up the cover and that's it. With Vince Young on the cover.

I really liked the Madden that had the cone that you had to move to throw the ball accurately with. Most people hated it, but I was a big fan. It was another aspect to the game and I only throw the ball (running the ball I always found boring, so it was a timed passing attack that I did). I got pretty damn good with that cone, and it would give me the upper hand on a team that had a QB that had low Passer Awareness.

Anyway, maybe this year I'll try out the new Madden.

Unfortunately, nowadays there's just so many games to play and i don't have as much time it seems like. I let my PS+ subscription expire because I have no reason for it now. I'm gonna bring my PS4 to the tugboat so I can finish up on Assassin's Creed 4 and Far Cry 4. After that, Bloodborne comes out and Witcher 3 soon after. I still want to play inFamous and The Evil Within.

Not to mention the surplus of decent PS3/360 games that I still have to play (usually when I'm at sea I play my PS3 and I leave my PS4 at home).

So I'm pretty much real behind.

Some people are complaining about the lack of good games in gaming right now, but I don't see it that way. I'm pretty filled up. This year a new Zelda and Uncharted 4 are coming out. Mix that with the surplus of really good TV Shows and it's very hard to find time to read a good book (not to mention do anything at all).
I actually liked the Madden and NCAA games where the players you recruited and drafted were randomly generated. So you really had to do a bit of work as well as get lucky. I think it was a fair comparison to the real NFL.

The newer versions of madden use the same prospects right? So realistically you can just do trial and error, no?

Also, in my however many years of playing Madden and NCAA, I don't think I ever saw a draft class that was uploaded to Madden that didn't end up being stupid..

I think the last one I recall trying, Sam Bradford was a 98 Overall Rookie..

He'll I remember once me and my brother took over Western Kentucky, and put ourselves on the team (edited players) as 99 overall..

I was a 99 overall WR with 99 speed, 99 catching, everything..

We then put those players in Madden.. And suddenly I had 88 speed..
JC: Looks like the reviews say this Bloodborne game is pretty darn good on PS4. After I finish up Far Cry 4 and Assassins Creed 4 this month on my PS4, i'm gonna prob have to grab it.

Sometimes Amazon throws out these deals where the 60$ game jumps down to 40$. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on it.

But IGN was saying the game is over 40 hours long, and if the game is good, that's usually a signal for me to buy at near full price.

I'm sure some folks on here will prob buy it, so if anyone has any opinions without spoilers or whatever, please post in the next couple weeks
I'm still trying to figure out if I want to get Bloodborne today or MLB '15 next Tuesday. I can only budget for one. I'm afraid of not knowing what's going on in Bloodborne's story and it being too hard (I've read it's brutally difficult like the Dark Souls games). I also usually get lost with armor/weapon upgrade info in RPGs. But, I don't know anything about the new MLB game and if it will be very different from '14 (which I have). I kind of want to try something new with Bloodborne and I'll already be in Best Buy today to buy the new Hobbit blu-ray, but I'm afraid of leaving my comfort zone by abandoning MLB '15. It's a tough decision.

It's hard for me to justify even being a Sony Network pass to play online cause I hardly play and when I do, unless I'm hooked big time in the game, it's usually no more than 30mins to a hour.

Tomb Raider (of all games lol) for the PS4 was awesome. I played that game for hours upon hours and beat it in not many days lol.

Yeah I never really did that. I liked woking with what I had with late season updates that way rookies are rated accordingly. I like the work you have to put in to building a team. where to dedicate your time and resources, as well as maintaining the cap. Which with the Browns, is quite easy since you aren't paying any QB's, QB type money.

I think I posted it before, but I was playing NCAA and have taken UAB from the bottom of the barrel up to prominence. No titles yes, but a ranked finish and some quality wins. I find NCAA to be the best of the sports games (outside of FIFA) and I probably won't upgrade until I know it's coming back.

I've said it a few times, but I have a contact at EA, and he says he thinks NCAA will be back in some form in the coming years. Just my opinion, but I think the schools are happy to give the license, as well as the NCAA, but they just don't know how to present it. They can make the game, they just cannot make likenesses. No #12 6'5" QB's that play for OSU, etc..

For guys like me, I could care less if you have current players. It's all about the future and creating something versus working with what you have for the year the game was released. I know I'm probably in the minority though. They have to cater to the average NCAA fan.
I took the leap and bought Bloodborne yesterday, but I probably won't be able to play it until this weekend.

Do let us geeks know what you think of it! I'm hoping to finish Resident Evil remake this weekend and will be open to this game.

*admins* please delete this, sorry.
I would love to see a high school game. You previously could do a lot with that Team Builder site and import high school teams and what not. So I think that could be fun but with a little more customization in regards to the leagues, conferences, names and etc.
Yes, sir.

Yeah, My brother keeps pushing for me to get an Xbox One, but I'm not until they start making NCAA for it...

I'm currently the Defensive Coordinator for South Alabama. Trying to figure out what kind of path I want to go..

I feel like they could make a "generic" game, but as long as places like Operation Sports are around, you're going to have people making real rosters and whatnot..

That's why I think the game could still flourish. As long as it's well known between even the casual NCAA gamers, they would always be able to download the true rosters for the game.

Ed O'Bannon or any other player who took issue with it couldn't do anything, because the rosters are fan made. They don't come with the game, they're all created and adjusted. The rosters used to be changed in name only, but I know the last few years even the skill ratings have been adjusted.

The game would totally be fine.

I think it would work if you focused the majority of the game on player development.

Being able to fully customize schools, colors, unis and stadiums would be cool too. I don't know if it would be enough for a full game, but a DLC or an add-on to NCAA? that would be incredible. I know there is HS sort of in NCAA, but it would be far more expanded. I'm sure users could make conferences as well.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/26/15 12:37 AM
I'd love an AD mode..

If I build Wyoming up to a powerhouse, but we're still playing in a HS sized stadium, that's silly..

Hell Akron just spent a couple million on a football team.. And they're terrible (side note: their National Champion Soccer team still plays on a HS field..)

I feel like sports games are focusing way too much on graphics and even animation, and not enough on the actual game itself..

I don't care if Madden has 100 different tackle animations.. If the Franchise mode sucks..
I've had some issues with gameplay in both Madden and NCAA (superhuman linebackers that can jump up and intercept EVERYTHING) but seriously, put in a version of either game from 7 years ago and you can tell the gameplay has improved.

With the off the field stuff, they tinker every year. Some versions of the game are not as good as others. NCAA 12 is incredible. It's such a perfect game.

Also the Madden that had Peyton Hillis had an awesome franchise mode. I loved the way the draft worked and how you could scout, but even if you worked hard looking at players, you still needed to get a bit lucky. I always felt that to be realistic. Like you'd unlock stuff about a guy and it would seem like he could rate in the 90's, but it turns out he never really gets past the low 80's... Seems unfair but again, the NFL is unfair.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/26/15 06:06 AM
Does anyone know anything about game licensing or whatever?

I bout NCAA 14 online as a download, and now it will only let me play it if im connected to the internet..

Even if im not using the internet for it..

I was in the middle of an offline dynasty game, and my wifi went down, and it kicked me back to the dashboard..

I understand that the game should only work with the gamertag I purchased it with, but I dont feel like I should have to be online to do that..

Really annoying.
Interesting, this just lit a bulb over my head. I downloaded Tomb Raider and whatever the free game available for the Xbox 360 is right now and noticed that they didn't install on my hard drive. However, I could still play them as if they were. This makes me wonder if they're now allowing us to play digital games only over WiFi instead of installing them so we can play them offline. If that's the case, I'm going to be pissed. I almost always play NCAA Football 14 offline because it runs much smoother when not connected to the Internet. If I can't do that anymore, I think my NCAA days are done and I'll have to seriously consider my commitment to Xbox.

Also, realize EA won't support NCAA Football's online servers for eternity. At some point in the near future (probably), they'll stop and nobody will be able to download community rosters anymore.
Posted By: ThatGuy Re: What games are you currently playing? - 03/26/15 11:38 AM
You dont need Roster share to get a custom roster.

Some people download them off the internet and put them via USB.

Because most people dont edit rosters in game, as that'd take forever. Theres a bunch of file editors out there that are basically like Excell, and you just change the info and put it back in..
Good call, I don't know why I didn't think about that.

I have a ton of emulators on my laptop.. N64, PS2, GBA..

I even downloaded a GBA emulator on my phone so I could play Pokemon..

The N64 emulator on my phone sucked, based on the on screen buttons.. Too difficult to play Mario Kart on it..
Nice! I have been playing the snes legend of zelda: a link to the past recently.

As far as new games go, I have COD AW, Order 1886, and Battlefield.

Order of 1886 has the greatest graphics I have ever laid eyes on. It truly is a masterpiece. The gameplay is good, but it is very short. But for the experience of only the graphics it is worth the buy.

COD AW is always a fun game to plug in adn play.

Battlefield I am dissappointed in. I just bought it Sunday and I am going to trade it in I think.

I disliked Ghost, and am not a fan of the "futuristic" weaponry they are leaning towards..

..seems to much like Halo, and I hate Halo..

I actually bought a SNES looking usb controller on amazon for 9 bucks. It's not officially licensed or anything, but it definitely has the same feel.

Frorm what I hear this year's COD will be going back to the WWII era. Im a little excited about it. Its been a while since it has.
Just set up a couple of dedicated servers for Insurgency for the group I game with to play on.

It's a pretty fun game, especially as a multiplayer co-op.

I figured out my NCAA offline problem..

While I bought it on my gamer tag, I bought it on my friends xbox, because it was on sale at the time, and I didn't have a system yet..

So I have to switch the license over to my system..
