Kinda off topic, but I heard a rumor awhile back that ESPN is in serious financial trouble, partly because of the SEC Network and overspending for the NBA. They overspent and it's backfiring pretty bad. Now you have people not wanting to pay for cable. They're letting a lot of guys go because of it. There's no way Broussard gets his next contract extended.
Yup. It's one the reasons more expensive talent like Cowherd and Simmons was allowed to leave. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! ESPN is just using the excuse of them saying something controversial to hide the impending asteroid heading their way. If this leads them into "firing" Bayless and/or Smith it will all be worth it. Also, I wonder if they might "nudge" Gruden back into coaching. I think he makes something like $4 million a year. They can hire someone for much cheaper. People will watch MNF no matter who the announcer is. . . as long as it's not Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer. The PTI guys should keep their heads on a swivel as well.

The reality is this: Televisions are becoming obsolete in general. You can thank Netflix a lot for that. However, I'd bet every dollar I've got that the cost of wifi is gonna sky rocket in order to balance out people not wanting cable or basic home phone costs. Kids aren't just sitting in front of TVs anymore. They're playing on tablets, smartphones and computers. Unfortunately, these television programs can't really play hardball because there's a ton of options now and days.
Is it really worth spending an extra $30 for channels you don't use for shows that you can just watch on Netflix in a few months? I'll never understand the assanine logic that ESPN used when it comes to their TV shows. You can only say controversial crap for so long before it wears out and viewers look for something else. Instead of investing in quality content, ESPN went for a get rich quick scenario of controversy drawing ratings and they're going to pay like hell for it now.
At the end of the day, quality and integrity still actually mean something. ESPN sold out on theirs a long time ago.

In some ways it has...remember not too long ago the unlimited wireless data that everyone had..now not even an option. This new tiered plan verizon has is a joke. Theres not a company I despise more than VZW, problem is for most folks they are still the best option when it comes to coverage. But almost everyone needs wireless data and access now in this 100% connected instant connected world

I just wish the Cavs and TT would get this deal done. I really am a believer in that he is an integral part of us being a championship team.
I am not blaming the Cavs at all. I just wish the deal would get done.

Filed in the "Why Chris Grant is Unemployed" section..
Anthony Bennett cleared waivers.
Will likely sign with Toronto..
Raptor seem to like those Canadian players......

Looks like Cavs have their preseason roster set at the max of 20, some interesting names in there, like Austin Daye, Quinn Cook, Nick Minnerath, and Chris Johnson. Our bench should be alot better this year

No matter who the Cavs picked with that #1 pick, the guy was getting traded. Grant set the Cavs up for success by stockpiling assets.

It will be interesting to see what Thompson does. The deadline looms.

I don't know about Ya'll, but with today being media day, I am PUMPED for this season. I think TT/Cavs will get something done, either way everyone is coming back this year and we are going to have alot of fun. Complete opposite of the stuff that happens on Sunday, unless we have sunday games..lol

I expect them to be pretty damn good. Everyone has a year together. I think Blatt will get rotations down much sooner.
It'll be fun, but also a bit nerve wracking watching Kyrie and Love out there and hoping nothing bad happens.

Yep, better than the Browns. I know we disagree on TT, but I just hope that both sides can come to a compromise. This is our best chance for a championship and we need him to achieve that.

I hope lebron gets them in the same mentality the heat were the second year after they lost in the finals...they destroyed the league, they played mad every single game. We have much better horses then they do, we could really embarrass some teams this year and I'm 100% ok with that.

Agreed, but to be fair the only thing we disagree about on TT is whether or not he's worth a max, I still want him and I think he is an important piece on the bench. Just at a fair price. I think he and Paul have handled this about the worst way possible. But I still think something gets done tomorrow that locks him up. I really wouldn't be surprised with a 2 year deal with second year player option. Give him 15-16 million this year, he can opt out next year and we have an extended cap to reward him.

Worst case scenario is that TT signs his qualifying, and plays like a machine in a huge contract year. All I care about is this season and getting our parade. Having a guy motivated like that wouldn't be the end of the world. I still think they get something done. I'd love to see a 3 year deal like the rumored one, where they give him time to earn an even bigger deal if he can improve his offensive game. Maybe like a similar deal Lebron took in 2006 when he declined the full max? The Cavs have the leverage in this situation. They have a starting power forward whom they signed to big money. They are pretty much going year to year with Lebron (even though he's most likely not going anywhere) and still own TT's rights if he declines an extension. There also hasn't been a any offers from other teams? I haven't really heard of any. Everything is based on potential. Thompson is not worth what he wants now, but if he builds a solid jumper, and cleans up his game around the rim? Sure. This will get done. I don't blame Thompson for going after as much coin as possible, but the Cavs aren't budging, I think they've made that clear. They don't need to. It's not often this organization has been in this position, but they are absolutely doing the right thing.

Yeah, I am not knocking the Cavs. Not at all! I just want to get the deal done because I think we need him to win. And I think this year might be our best chance EVER to win the whole thing.
I too, wish that the rumored 3 year deal sounded fair. LOL.....I think they are all overpaid and get that TT is not a star, at least in terms of how most people look at the NBA.
I think we have a really good team w/plenty of scorers. I think a hard-working guy who gives us extra possessions, defends, and occupies defenders because of his rebounding ability is invaluable. It's like the missing piece, but it's not missing. If you know what I mean.

Maybe I should expound on that last part:
Most of you guys seem kinda young, so these might not be the best examples, but most of you seem to like bb a lot, so you will probably look them up.
Cedrick Maxwell coming to Boston and giving them those intangibles.
Bobby Jones for Philly when they had Dr. J, Toney, Cheeks, Chocolate Thunder, etc
Paul Silas w/Phoenix and Boston. Doing all the dirty work.
Rodman w/Detroit.
Dave Debussher w/the Knicks back when they had Clyde, The Pearl, Willis, and Bradley.
Kurt Rambis w/the Lakers.
I could go on, but all of those guys played integral roles in the success of their teams. Sometimes, if you have too many scorers and not enough role players, you have problems. Heck, I am wondering if Ohio State football isn't experiencing that this year.

I'd love to see what this group would do with the 2009 Cavs mindset, where they wanted to go out every night and punish teams. I understand that's not going to happen, and guys are going to get random nights off, and minutes will be cut, but it would still be fun to see what kind of a record they could get. On the flip side, I really hate the situation that transplant Cavs fans are put in... You get 24 or 25 national games (and all Bulls games for me) so paying full price for league pass is just not really worth it... I rely on illegal stream. Really sucks. I really wish I could just buy FS Ohio as an entire channel. I get all the programming outside of games, but I would pay a premium to get everything.

yeah ultimately you want to get a healthy run in the playoffs, we know the east is a cupcake. So i'd be fine with a 3 seed with lebron playing 25-28 minutes a game with Kyrie and love about the same.
When I moved to florida, Direct TV had a special, I got 2 years of Sunday ticket and I paid 99 dollars for league pass..the national games get blacked out but thats fine, the rest of the games i think its worth it. Plus I can watch when on the road on my mobile devices

Just like last year, he was hurt in the beginning/middle of the season, but he played well from there on out (though he did have a hammy issue in the playoffs).
This team will once again be on cruise control at the start of the season. I'm not worried about it.

This is a team built for the playoffs. Do not care about the regular season. We proved that we could go on the road and win anywhere. We also proved that we can lose at home.
This team did EXACTLY what I thought they would last year. Cruise and steamroll through the playoffs until the finals. Who's our biggest threat?

yeah, i'm curious between cunningham, stephens or cook who sticks It could be non of them .... because of the tax implications. Right now we have: C: Moz, Kahn, Varejao PF: Love, Thompson SF: Lebron, Jefferson, Jones SG: Shumpert, JR, Harris (Pointer is a draft pick not likely to make team) PG: Irving, Williams, Delly That's really good depth at all positions. Anyone we add would have to go to the D league. There is almost no way we pay almost 4 times such a player's salary. (with salary and taxes included)

how many times did this guy get hung during live games last year dunking?
he has such great moves to drive into the paint, but is such a horrible finisher.

I wonder if we will see something like Kyrie at the 2 and Delly/Mo taking over the PG responsibilities? Sure we have JR there to start, but this is going to make for some interesting rotations.

I would love to see Delly get some minutes with Iman on the bench. If he could shoot a little bit better that would help tremendously. However, I would love to see JR start for us here because he's probably the most entertaining (read: "infuriating") player from on the court to off the court and is just a personal favorite.

Did anyone hear Derrick Rose's presser yesterday? What a scumbag. Dude is talking about how excited he is for a few years from now when he gets paid, so he can take care of his kid. Wow.
Chicago media was ripping him to shreds today, playing clips of Lebron saying how losing in the finals haunts him, and the focus of Rose's media day was how great he is, and how he can't wait to get paid soon. Just unreal.
The fall that this dude has had over the years is amazing.
Oh, and he's hurt again. Unreal. That team can't get rid of him fast enough.
