I was wondering if anyone who Folds with their PS3 wanted to form a team. I made one before, but somehow I ended up on PC Magazine's team and contributed a bunch on there. Not sure how that happened. I'm wondering if you can join on your PC as well. You may be able to. I restarted a team called "The Dawgpound" and used this site as it's homepage. So I was seeing if any Dawgtalkers who use it wanted to join up and form a team. I leave my PS3 on a lot to run the program, and I have heard of people who haven't turned it off in 2 months since running it, so it doesn't screw it up. For those interested, when you join the team, the team # is 70926. You enter that when you click on Join A Team.

I will be checking that out in the very near future. I've always been afraid to leave my ps3 on for so long. BTW what's the longest you've had it on for?

Probably about 20 hours, but I was on a message board with guys talking about Folding, and the one said he hadn't shut his off but once since he started Folding 2 months ago, and another said he just leaves it on continuously. I usually Fold during the night and then shut it off around noon, but I may leave it on all day if people do it without a problem.

Folding is the crunching of number by a certain processor machine. The fast the crunching the more cures you would find, so they released for the Ps3, which is super powerful.
So far, the program results have exceeded their expectations by a mile.
The program was orginally developed by a team of students at the University of Stanford.

Hmmm, so folding is the crunching of number? What does that mean and why would you want to do it? It finds cures? Cures for what?
I dont have a PS3, just curious as to what it is.

Nice video there, it really explains everything someone needs to know.
Can you play games on your ps3 while you're folding? I haven't tried that yet.

No, you can only Fold, can't play games. Folding has to do with protein molecules and basically the study of those molecules "folding." Stanford University is using computers and PS3's across the world to help study this and find cures for diseases such as Alzheimers and Parkinson's. If you want to know more or join in without a PS3, go to http://folding.stanford.edu

I fold for Team #33 HardOCP with every computer I own and the PS3. It's the #1 team in the world and the Horde's Web site is pretty sweet. We have custom stats pages: http://www.hardfolding.com/?go=38&tnum=33&id=201424

I don't have a PS3 yet or I would. I'm kind of holding out for a bit to see if there is a price break later this summer (it's rumored because Sony cut production cost by almost $100, but since they are still losing money on each unit it's not guaranteed that they will pass it on). Not really any games out that I absolutly must have so it's no biggie to me.
But I just sold my first program and I'm eyeing a nice 37" 720p LCD with VGA(so I can also use it as a monitor) to go along with my PS3. I'm also holding out on that to see if the price comes down a bit now that more 1080p tv's are coming out.
