well, you been on record telling me multiple times you don't listen to what i say because i'm not a believer anyway. i'm neither muslim or christian.
so since you never been to the middle east or europe, then your opinion is also worthless to me.
just using your logic.

I have never been to the Middle East, and I can't get a single one of them to go have a drink with, go to the strip club, or even smoke a bowl with me. You definitely know the wrong ones then. It is amazing (just like with many Christians who also claim to be pious, yet act anything but) how many "pious" Muslims do all of the things you mentioned. I have known Muslims who have owned bars, drank, chased women, got high on anything they could smoke, snort, ingest or inject, and every other behavior their religion forbids. I would assume that it is much like many Christians who claim to be Christian, but who do nothing Jesus told us to do.

My wife works with a Muslim woman and her and her husband are both mid-ish 50s and from Iran. Over the years we've been to their house and they to ours. Nice people as far as I can see. All 4 of us happened to be at the same table at a wedding with all types of music blaring. All of a sudden I heard a shriek from the woman's husband and a loud "WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS THAT"??? His eyes were wide open like he saw a ghost!!! Blaring loudly was George Clinton's "Atomic Dog". I will say this. Ya just ain't american if ya don't like George Clinton's "Atomic Dog" cranked all the way.

I must have missed the part where Jesus told me I couldn't drink or smoke weed.
The last time I had a beer was with GM. I rarely ever drink anymore and quit smoking weed years ago. But I don't preach at people who want to about it.

The more fundamentalist you get the more you are likely to find a church who forbids drinking. My baptist churches all forbade drinking anything (even wine) with alcohol in it, because it was considered a sin of the flesh. I'm not sure how else you can entertain a party without a nicely stocked wet bar though. If you can't tell I like single malts and bourbons

The Bible speaks of your body as a temple, gift from God, treat it with respect, etc... Jesus made wine at his mom's request so the "no alcohol" thing always confused me. I believe a person should generally try to keep their body in decent shape for practical reasons as well as religious reasons... and yes, I've often gotten a kick out of some woman that's 120 lbs overweight commenting on "the poison" other people put in their body.

And I too believe that people should take reasonable care of their own health. I do believe that is expected of us.
However, I don't find it necessary to "swear off" anything. Everything used in moderation I believe is fine.
Jesus turned the water into wine and said "Feast ye and rejoice". I don't think he meant get dog drunk, but have a few glasses and enjoy yourself.
And all of those who claim it was grape juice? How can you hall around grape juice in the heat with no refrigeration without it turning rancid? You can't. Some things simply defy logic.

He took casks of drinking water and turned them immediately into wine with no grapes or fermentation or anything... and the fact that he couldn't have kept grace juice cold is the part that defies logic?

I guess I should have been clearer. lol As Christians, we do believe in the miracles that Jesus performed. So while it's illogical for some, not at all for others. In the second part, I was speaking about the times in general. People could not preserve fruit juices without refrigeration unless they were fermented. Christians or non Christians can see the logic in this.

Muslim Extremist: There is no god but Allah. Christians: No, my god is the one true god.
Muslim Extremists: We want our religion to rule nations. Christians: We want our religion to rule the U.S.
Muslim Extremists: We hate gays. Christians: We hate gays, too.
Muslim Extremists: The ends justify the means. Kill the infidels. Christians: Our bible justifies our violence, too. Leviticus 24:16: And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.
Muslim Extremists: Religious law trumps secular law. No exceptions. Christians: Clerk Davis is a hero. We agree. Religious conviction over law.
Muslim Extremists: It's OK to break the law when it can be excused by religious text. Christians: Agreed. Her conduct is excused by religion. This is "judicial tyranny".
sounds about right.

It's about advancement, but most importantly, it's about quality of life and options. If America was a desolate hellhole with no quality of life distractions, religious fundamentalism here could be life threatening danger. As it stands, we've got it pretty good here. There's ample opportunity for economic advancement, and a plethora of activities available to distract. So instead of cafe bombs, we get a government clerk throwing childish fits that halt bureaucracy for a few days. If life got desolate here, fundamentalists would throw fire bombs. But we're doing OK.

Hey Swish, you know I share your convictions on religion, but I'd put "Extremist" next to Christian too on the last 3 (and remove Extremist Muslim from the first 3). The majority of Christians do believe in traditional marriage, but the majority don't believe in death to homosexuals. You and I consider things like the new covenant to be in ways fun mental gymnastics, but those are used nonetheless to back away from potentially damaging doctrine such as Leviticus by mainstream Christians.
I think in ways a good litmus test was the republican debate. You may have had almost every person there say they disagreed with the supreme court, yet only a select few tried to say that religious dogma should trump the ruling. Most of them said it's the law and we need to follow it.

Bahrain is another fun spot. Don't let what you see on TV stop you form exploring. The whole ME is not at war.

When I was at college in the 90s there many middle eastern girls with their heads/hair covered and I assumed they and the the boys they sat with in the cafeteria were Muslim.
I'm not sure if they were talking jihad or finals.
