LOL.............I'm not defending him. You do remember that I was called "silly" by guys like tab for not liking him as a qb, right? I was just a "hater" who had no valid arguments about his faults. You gotta remember all of that, right?

It will take some time. The more comfortable he gets, the worse he gets. He's football dumb.

Dallas fans can be bad, but man, can you imagine if he was in Philly? Chicago? New York? Heck, Steeler fans would beat his ass. LOL

I bet Cassell starts within 10 days

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

So this is the QB hypocrits thread, thought so tongue

The really funny part is that almost all of what has been said about Weeden in here can be said about Manziel, but that happens to be the hypocrits blind spot

Not sure I really get what you are saying? Are you calling me a hypocrite?

That's kinda funny because many posters rip me all the time for bashing Farmer for drafting Johnny over Teddy.

So, I am full of crap for not wanting us to draft Johnny over Teddy and full of crap because I am defending Johnny?

Okie dokie.

Given that Cassell has to learn a completely new offense, and a very complex offense at that, likely without any reps, I would doubt that.

Well If we would have had the choice between either Manning or Leaf. We take Leaf. If they would have had the choice between Luck or RGIII. It would have been RGIII. The Browns are that stupid and have proven so for 17 years.

It's been said that the Colts at one point were gonna take Leaf, or had seriously considered it. I've read that on the internet so it's gotta be true .

Does that make the statement any less true? No.

I don't ever recall calling you silly except for the recent morale thread...I'm sure I tried my best to rationalize it was a good move. I'm consistent that way.

"The more comfortable he gets the worse he gets" my son a big Dallas fan and were talking about him - almost my words verbatim to him...lol laugh

He didn't even warm up and was being vilified for it until he went 7 for 7 or 8 for 8. They dummied down the offense to a simple one read if not there...quick check down. My son hopes they continue with the simple offense and is afraid what will happen if they throw too much at him.

Cassel - he was very mad...he wanted them to pick up Ponder for nothing. Actually he wanted McFadden to be the back up and go Read option.

It will be interesting to see if Weeden actually improved. Or will he be the same old same ole.

jmh?

First of all, it's yet to be seen if it's true. Is Ted a franchise qb? If you deem him that after 1 season plus 2 games, I don't know about you.

Living in the past can be fun sometimes. But constant harping about "we should've gotten Ted" gets old.

It's interesting and perplexing that many Browns fans on here were clamoring for Cardale Jones after seeing him for just 3 games.

I don't doubt that's your perspective on the issue. But is it the only perspective on the issue? I would highly doubt that.

I believe if you took a pole on what was the most frustrating thing we've seen here since 1999, two would be a close race.

1. The total lack of continuity in the FO and coaching staff. The inability to find a consistent identity and cohesiveness because of that.

2. The lack of finding a QB and the ability to evaluate the QB position.

So I believe Teddy and Carr are prime examples of one of the glaring weaknesses we have seen on our team since its return.

Franchise QB's? Maybe not. But you can see a base of talent, leadership and God given talent that it takes to become a franchise QB.

So I understand that it bothers you, but please don't pretend it's not an issue high on the priority list.

When will we hear the end of it? Probably when this FO no longer blows picks on QB's who flop and we actually land a legitimate QB.

Probably. But, what does that have to do with not taking Bridgewater 2 drafts ago? Really, nothing.

So why do we constantly hear about the guy? The "if only" stuff. It's dumb. "If only we'd have traded our life away for Luck, or RG III, right?

We don't have Bridgewater, or Carr.......so why do some keep carping on "if only....".

And as to your point #1 - yeah, it IS frustrating hearing almost daily how "we need a new coach", or "Farmer sucks, we need a new GM", or "we don't have a qb, we need to suck this year to get next years latest greatest college qb." Man, the "reset" every 2 years mentality is just dumb.

Hopefully no one posted this just yet:

London Fletcher on Weeden INT: Like 'I was playing catch with my kid'

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer
September 24, 2015 11:05 am ET

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-foot...-my-kid?ref=yfp

With Tony Romo out at least 8 weeks after breaking his collarbone against the Eagles last week the Cowboys are forced to turn to Brandon Weeden under center.

Everyone's painting as rosy as picture of Weeden as they can, with Jerry Jones calling Weeden's passes "a thing of beauty." CBS analyst London Fletcher heard Jerry say that line and, having personally caught a pass from Weeden (as a defensive player), told CBS Sports Radio's "Gio and Jones" he does not, um, agree.

"I almost crashed my car,” Fletcher said of hearing Jones' compliment. “Listen, we played against Brandon Weeden when he was in Cleveland, and man, he threw me an interception – I thought I was playing catch with my kid in the park or in the backyard, man."

Fletcher's referring to a 2012 game when, while playing for the Redskins, he picked off Weeden, then the Browns quarterback, in the third quarter on an 18-yard pass attempt to Greg Little.

“I'm serious,” Fletcher added. “That's how easy it was. When he threw the football, I'm standing in the zone and I'm thinking, ‘Oh, my god, no he didn't just throw this football to me.'"

In defense of Weeden, he was a rookie at the time. And rookies make mistakes.

But Weeden's career, outside of some good preseason games, doesn't provide a whole lot of reason for hope. Maybe he looks good slinging the ball around but it's irrelevant if he can't complete passes to guys on his own team.

We actually went looking for the pick in question. Unfortunately the worst interception OF ALL TIME takes up too much Google space for anything else involving Weeden.

P.S. GIF of interception at link above.

As I said before, until we have a QB, the QB position past and present will be an issue. Mistakes or perceived mistakes will be an issue. Pretending those things didn't happen simply doesn't make them go away.

Who is pretending those things didn't happen??>?????

I KNOW what happened. I am the one DEALING with what happened. You appear, along with one other person, to think that if you say "we shoulda, coulda........" it will change things.

It's time to deal with reality, not the past. I'd love to not ever hear "Oh, we should've gotten Teddy". We didn't. It's time to realize that. He's not here, he's not coming here. And further, as of yet, he ain't all that, anyway.

LOL....I remember that play.

What's kinda odd is how strongly so many people defended Weeden even though he had one failure after another, yet those same people don't want to give JM a chance.

Btw---------have I ever mentioned that we could have had Teddy instead of Johnny? Just think, we wouldn't have to even worry about McCown and the concussion protocol, because he would NOT even be on this team.

In fact, we wouldn't even be having qb conversations and we would be talking about our playoff chances this year. naughtydevil

Your son is right in that Dallas should dummy down the defense for him. Give him one read. Dallas probably has the best OL in football.

I have always liked McFadden's ability, but he always seems to be nicked up. He misses a lot of time.

I believe your posts on this subject are funny. People will always question QB moves until we get one. You may not like it, but that's a fact. You can go on kicking and screaming about it, but until we get a franchise QB, people will always question past moves at QB.

In case you've missed it, over the past few days, Weeden has been a big topic. McCoy has been mentioned and so has Couch.

Where's your outrage over that? Go ahead Arch, you can have the last word, but it's not going to change anything.

If the Cowboys initiated a hurry up offense with short range timing patterns, Kellen would take them on a win streak.

I was just listening to a call-in show on the NFL network on Sirius. Holy jebus the fans are in full panic mode over how long it's going to take Cassel to be ready. They don't even want to give Weeden a chance. One caller asked if he could be ready by the second half in the next game. Not one of the co hosts or a single caller felt that Weeden could fill in for Romo until he comes back.

Dude, you just don't get it. Nobody is calling for weeden, or couch, or mccoy. We had them, we got rid of them.

We NEVER had Ted. Never. So why does an extreme minority constantly say "we should've gotten Ted."?

We didn't. Period. End of discussion.

Now, if people want to talk about which qb we should draft next year? Wonderful. But, 2 drafts ago, we didn't take Ted. Period. He is not here, he is not a free agent. He is not available. Hence, the constant harping on "coulda shoulda woulda" is pretty inane.

In case you missed it, Vers and I have had TONS of disagreements and knock down drag outs on this board. So have you and I.

I wish I could even begin to count how many times so many different posters have looked back at who we passed up at the WR position, the DE and LB'er position. It's gone on for years with many players at many positions. It still goes on now.

For some reason, this particular player at this particular position sticks in your craw. Don't know why you suddenly decided to take issue with this kind of post, but you have.

The way this team has drafted, the players they passed up on and how they may or may not have changed where this team is at right now has ALWAYS been a part of this board. And as I said earlier, always will be until we become consistent winner.

Maybe it's more about who's posting this than the player being mentioned? Because I've never seen you make such a huge issue out of it the hundreds of times it's happened before over all of these years.

So no, I get it.

I think I'm missing something with Teddy. I just don't see it. I missed the games down the stretch last year where he kind of came on, but I watched the ones leading up to that. I've also watched the first two this year.

I just don't get the love. Bridgewater threw for 153 yards this past Sunday. 49 yards came on a flip to Peterson as he was being sacked. He looks to me like his ceiling is Alex Smith. I guess that's not terrible, but hardly dynamic.

Would the Browns be playing for the playoffs this year if we had drafted Bridgewater? My question is would the fans have already run him out of town. Everyone thinks it would have been so much better with player x over player y, but there really is no telling. Fan expectations of players on other teams are way different than their expectations of players on their favorite team. Browns fans (or fans of other teams) are always willing to give a player on another team the benefit of the doubt while trashing their own guys. The expectations are not equivalent.

Two things, Rish:

1. You really don't get why I posted that? Seriously? Again, I think many of you miss my humor. grin

2. I really can't answer your question about Teddy w/out sounding insulting. I have no intention of insulting you, but the explanation would "sound" insulting. I'm worn out by many things, bro........and I really do not wish to fight over something that I don't even mean to say. So, let's just say that you and I disagree about what is important regarding a good NFL qb and knowing that you have a set starter for years to come is more comforting than having a guy on your team who can't beat out Josh "Freaking" McCown.

I hope Weeden plays well for the Cowboys because I like his style of a qb, a tall, in the pocket, passer who gets the ball into covered receivers, not avoiding a pass play, just because of good coverage.

That's why I liked, Kyle Orton, Ryan Tannehil, Jason Campbell, and many others. And I like to be right.

I think Weeden is poised to have a breakout several games, and I think he's going to take that particular team by storm, and make folks wonder if Romo even should come back at all.

The ONLY problem I STILL have with Weeden is, it seems to me, the next time he leads a game winning drive in the 4th quarter will be his FIRST TIME.

But if you get the ball on the 5 yd line and have to pass it in, he's going to make the play.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
