How about this one?
McCown - definitely terrible Manziel - probably terrible, but at least we don't know
Or how about this one. McCown went 28/49 for 341 yds 2 TD's and 1 Int last week. Neither QB is terrible and Neither QB is that good right now. We are 3 games into the season and can't run or stop the run and that is going to make it tough for any QB. Everyone is over-reacting like we do every freakin season. JFF still can't make all the reads, has poor footwork and a poor throwing motion and you will ruin him if you put him in before those things are corrected just like the other rookies we have thrown into the fire. No one is overreacting. This is the same thing I've (and others) have been saying about McCown the entire off-season. He has been in the league since 2002. He has never been consistently good. 28/49 for 341 yds 2 TD's and 1 Int is good. It's plenty good enough to win football games. It is better than what you are looking for when your game plan is to run and stop the run. Right. That is good for McCown. About as good as one can hope for. You're not getting better than that and the worst is yet to come.

There are some very good Sports reporters out there with incredible sources.
TMZ is not one of them...getting a video from the hotel security is a lot different then getting such damming testimony of a locker room divided.
If the reputable guys who I'm sure are texting their close sources they have on the Browns and they just scoff at that RUMOR...cause if they were corroborating the story we would have heard it by now.
Any case...QB Situation. I'm torn. Cause deep down inside I want Manziel to play. I think he is what I call a Game Day player. He should not be judged on last season. But what he is here and now.
On the other hand even though I thought McCown did not play well even for him. Its the defense that has lost this game for us if I had to point fingers. I mean we were on a last minute drive and there was an INT to end it and we lose by 7. But No way our Defense should have given up all those scores.
The Running into the punter was one play that stood our alone as a GAME Breaker not that last minute INT.
Again no way I think McCown played well but he didn't play Bad enough to LOSE THE GAME.

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

The way I see the QB deal to work out is Manziel will take over at home against the Broncos. Once they hand him the ball, they can't take it back unless the guy gets hurt.

I don't believe the story, either. And even if I did, what's the big deal if only 3 players chimed in. What about the rest?
On the other hand, I think that a guy like Kevin Jones is far less reputable than TMZ, and you guys believe what he writes. The Browns pay him to write, yet people post articles and start "believing" the stuff he writes.
Sorry, I don't see the consistency in how some of you evaluate reporters. They write something bad.....they are either liars, biased, or not credible. They write something good......they are just reporting what they see.
Yeah..............right!

I am not surprised. We have know it was at the poles where it could never thaw out. It isn't logical to think it was at the poles and not elsewhere.
None the less, still a nice announcement. I suppose if we can find pools we might find life, but I doubt it will ever happen in my lifetime. I'd like for that, but we are probably 30-40 years away from any hands on work.

So, after Week 3, the rest of the Cleveland Browns 2015 season should be all about "seeing what we have" with Johnny Manziel? Just forget all about developing the TEAM? I know I'm laying the hyperbole on a little thick, but let's go forward with this line of thinking:
Tell the team that this season is hopeless and that we aren't going to concern ourselves with actually winning, but instead seeing what Johhny can do. If we get a W, great, if not, no big deal because as was stated, we didn't expect to win anyway.
For argument's sake, let's say Johnny does pretty well, at least enough that it looks like he'll be the starter heading in to 2016. Do you honestly think that other players will be just so excited, so enamored by that, that they will flock to Cleveland, will do anything to stay if they are already here, just for the chance to play with him? Do you think Johhny starting in 2016 will make up for a FO and coaching staff that said to hell with their commitment to trying to win?
Frankly, this argument that McCown isn't going to lead us to the playoffs anyway is nothing but a strawman. Not a single person said he would, and no one was talking playoffs this preseason. The only people putting that idea forward are people who have been trying to artificially create a higher expected standard for McCown so that they can turn around and say he sucks and justify their belief that Manziel should be playing.
Look man, if you (or anyone) can explain to me how "seeing what we have" makes us more competitive THIS YEAR, I'll change my view point. But here's how I'm seeing it: The Bengals have the hot hand, but it still has yet to be determined if they are for real. The Ravens are in a bigger hole than we are, and the Steelers despite their win, will be VERY lucky to be at .500 when Big Ben gets back. If the Browns come out this week and play like they are capable of playing, we're at 2-2. McCown certainly could have had a better game, but he wasn't the sole reason we lost. I just think when you're one game out from .500 it sends a bad message to give up on the season. This post has largely went unchallenged. Yet, if someone like Bone or Super would have written a similar post w/an opposite viewpoint, they would have been SLAMMED. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I welcome various opinions, but man, some of these points are whacked: So, after Week 3, the rest of the Cleveland Browns 2015 season should be all about "seeing what we have" with Johnny Manziel? Just forget all about developing the TEAM? Is he suggesting that by playing Johnny, we would be ignoring the development of the team? Tell the team that this season is hopeless and that we aren't going to concern ourselves with actually winning, but instead seeing what Johhny can do. If we get a W, great, if not, no big deal because as was stated, we didn't expect to win anyway. Hmmmm........Johnny won his only start. McCown has a long record of being a freaking loser. JM won the Heisman. He won in college. He was a first round pick. Was McCown any of those things? No, I am not saying his collegiate success guarantees anything, but I don't get how anyone can say we aren't concerned about winning if we start him over the career loser---McCown. Frankly, that is a lie and a load of BS! I read posts that said we would go 11 and 5 and play in the AFC Championship game. Wanna call me a liar on that one, Mouth? I have also read numerous posts---this one included---that suggest that the team has a better chance to win w/McCown. It's guys like you are who are being loud-mouths and making ridiculous statements. What freaking proof do you have that we will be a better team w/McCown? I just think when you're one game out from .500 it sends a bad message to give up on the season. First of all........the Browns suck and have no chance at the playoffs. Secondly, some of us don't think that McCown gives us a better chance to win games NOW.

Andrew Luck doesn't give us a better chance to win games now. BTW his QB rating is worse than McCown's right now. If you really really want to win games now, figure out how to run and stop the run. Throwing Manziel in the fire isn't a solution, it's another problem.

I love posts like this one.
Are you insinuating that McCown is better than Luck?
And you are freaking nuts if you don't think he gives us a better chance to win.

I'm pretty sure that he's saying that even Andrew Luck instead of McCown or Manziel wouldn't help us because that position isn't the root of our problems right now (for once).

I think our talent is below average, but the Colts suffer from the same problem. Their OL is putrid.
Put Luck on this team and put McCown on their team and see what happens.

What McCown may have in grasp of offense and experience, Johnny makes up for in arm strength and ability to extend plays. McCown missed on at least three deep passes Sunday, and threw the game ending pick because he doesn't have much of an arm. Johnny is not Flacco, but he has a plus arm and great touch. He would have hit some of those. He gives us a better chance of winning now. McCown is like Delhomme 2.0.

for as mobile and run-willing McCown was before the Oakland game, he was just as UNWILLING to maneuver on Sunday. It was like his entire mindset had shifted. I'm sure he knows one more hit may put him on the bench for good.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Put Luck on this team... and see what happens. That might win us an extra couple of games (in a shootout) or so, but IMO, that is not our main issue. If we had a very strong/effective pass rush, our offence as presently composed, is adequate to put us in contention.

It was TMZ who broke both the Ray Rice and Donald sterling fiascos. Besides making up a story about one of the worst teams in the nfl doesn't seem to me like a big grabber. The Browns are a joke, it makes no sense for TMZ to make this up because they really gain nothing from it. If they were making up a scndal story about New England, Denver, Indianapolis, Seattle, yeah there would be something to gain there...but the Browns? give me a break! The only reason they are even talking to reporters saying it didn't happen is because of damage control...if a story like this came out about New England, it it wasn't true Bellichik wouldn't even acknowledge it and his players wouldn't be talking to media about it...the fact the Browns organization and its players are even giving it media attention tells me its 100% true, if it wasn't true, they would do like Bellichik and not even waste time even talking about it let alone considering it.

On a side note, its funny that after all these years were still exactly the same pile of ineptitude.
If we don't win 10 games this year, Pettine is as good as fired because Jimmy already fired Chud and Turner on an emotional kneejerk and he will do the same with Pettine. What Jimmy says and what Jimmy does are two totally different things. Jimmy don't have patience. This organization is dysnfunctional from the head ownership down the line.
I take back all the bad things i said about Jr....i never thought id ever see a worse owner them him, but Jimmy has done it.
I relaly just hope Pettine wins im so sick of losing, but with the way things look im not holding my breath.

Joe Thomas compares TMZ Browns story to “The Onion” TMZ.com ran a story Tuesday morning quoting three unnamed Browns players it claimed were offensive starters calling strongly but anonymously for Browns coach Mike Pettine to go back to Johnny Manziel at quarterback. After Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins took to Twitter to deny the TMZ story’s claims, the topic came up in a radio interview with Browns Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas on ESPN Cleveland Tuesday afternoon. Not surprisingly, Thomas also took the dismissive route. “It’s funny,” Thomas said, “because the first thing I [thought] about this article, it reminded me of being in college and picking up ‘The Onion,’ when you’d start reading this outrageous article and wonder who made it up.” The Onion is a popular satirical news source that started as a print publication widely distributed on college campuses. “It couldn’t be further from the truth,” Thomas said of the claims that the locker room is demanding Manziel replace Josh McCown. “It really belongs more in The Onion than a reputable news source, if that’s what we’re gong to call TMZ. “I’d be shocked if they really found three starters who were behind those quotes.” The entire Thomas interview from “The Golden Boyz” show can be heard here. Though he admitted that players have discussed it, Thomas said he doesn’t believe the TMZ article is rooted in truth or will cause a rift in the locker room. He even joked that McCown may have been one of the players demanding a quarterback change. “There are thousands of media sources in today’s day and age and constantly articles being put out there about different things and things that maybe aren’t true or are maybe being written to get a rise out of a certain segment of the population,” he said. “I don’t think many of the guys are going to give it too much credence.” Thomas has gone to the Pro Bowl every year since the Browns used the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 draft on him, and he’s never missed a snap. Asked why the Browns seem to be linked to stories about internal strife so often, Thomas gave an interesting answer. “If you look at the big picture, the teams that have had that great Pro Bowl quarterback, the franchise quarterback…for many many years they tend to win a lot of games,” he said. “And when your team is winning there aren’t the rumor, gossip type stories that get put out there because people want to talk about the winning. “I think these stories get highlighted more because of the losing.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...es-with-losing/"Though he admitted that players have discussed it," well......

bottom line is we have someone we know sucks, and one that we really don't have a clue because we have such a small sample and if you had a larger sample, way to many of you would have already written Johnny off as a bust and you would have been calling for his head by now. NOT because Johnny is a bust right now but because you don't understand the situation and because you have no patients.

Johnny 1-1. McCown 0-1.
Let's give the ball to the guy who sucks and loses! wOOt!
Fixed that for you. That one win against the Titans proves it. JFF is the next Otto Graham! Actually, it's still Johnny 1-0 and McCown 0-2. You can't change it because "you feel like it." This franchise is starving for a quarterback. STARVING! You know it, I know, the players know it, the entire NFL world knows it. But we are heeding that process by benching the ONLY guy on the team who can change that. The whole "he's not ready" let him sit and wait and watch and learn is a bunch of bologna. BUNCH OF BOLOGNA! He could sit for 3 years and he's still in the same boat. He needs to learn on the field! Oh yes, Aaron Rodgers sat for 3 years, look at him. He sat behind a HOF quarterback! Oh, we missed the boat on drafting Bridgewater and Carr because they are so much better... well I'll be darned, they did play last year! 12 and 16 games even! They are better this year because they played last year. Oh yeah, Manziel screwed up his first season and he pretty much admitted it without saying so. He worked hard to get where he is today because he wants to be the man. He WANTS to be here and be the man. Why are we holding him back? The coach isn't hired to be the dad. You're hired to win games and make this franchise the best it can be. There are some serious issues on this team because the GM drafts players and the coach refuses to play them and we keep losing. This works if you're winning but we are not. And will not. The entire team would play a little better knowing they have a chance to win. We don't have a chance with McCown. None. Zero. He isn't going to take the Browns anywhere. So why play him? Why are we the worst franchise in the league and playing a 36 year old back-up quarterback who wins only a 1/3 of his starts! For the sake of the franchise, Manziel needs to play now, today. If Manziel doesn't play we are holding back the franchise by years. He doesn't play and next season we are where we always are, uncertainty about the QB position. McCown isn't the answer. He is not and should not be the "bridge." The NFL is driven by HC and Quarterback... and that's it. If our HC refuses to play a more dynamic QB because of his ego, we have serious issues. Belichick wouldn't start McCown over Manziel. Not this year. If Manziel shows he can play but doesn't win the games, great! We got our QB, build around him. If he doesn't play and we decide to start him next year, he's going to have the growing pains that could have been avoided by starting him this year. Last year the Browns went 7-9 after starting the season 7-4. We convinced ourselves that we could have won more with Mack on the field or even made the playoffs. And all of sudden everyone is saying McCown won't take us anywhere and no one ever thought he could. Then why is he even here? Why is he even starting? Why are we holding the franchise back? Why? Why? Why? If the HC is not playing Manziel for personal reasons then we have big big issues. The team knows there best chance to win is Manziel. Why are we playing a guy who can't win. It's tough to play for a loser. I don't care who you are... The entire team would play better with McCown on the bench. It's that simple.

Let's be fair. McCown did not lose the Jets game, he got knocked out after the first drive. The Browns did lose to Oakland, but McCown wasn't the reason why. He missed a number of throws, but didn't make so many critical mistakes that he's the reason they lost. We still don't know exactly what the offense can look like with McCown, we haven't seen enough to make that determination. The team is losing because the defense can't stop opponents and none of the RBs can run the damn ball.

When your only down by seven points and you missed out totally on three different touchdown attempts (two to Travis down field, wide open and one to Gary in the endzone) then I'm not sure who you want to shovel most the blame to if it isn't Josh?

Jets game, Johnny was the only one that appeared to give a damn. My issue with McCown in Oakland was he looked like the bad Hoyer. Throwing off the back foot, missing guys that should have been a TD. He hits the open guys we win a shootout. You just cant leave 7 or 8 money plays on the field with nothing to show from it.
oO espn showed the back angle on that last pick and McCown looks right at the safety and then throws that floater. I dont know if this was the result of the big hit and he is still a bit foggy or just stupidity. Either way it sucked.

The team is losing because the defense can't stop opponents and none of the RBs can run the damn ball. Most of the blame goes on his shoulders for the Oakland loss. It just has to. When your only down by seven points and you missed out totally on three different touchdown attempts (two to Travis down field, wide open and one to Gary in the endzone) then I'm not sure who you want to shovel most the blame to if it isn't Josh? He also overthrew Gabriel in the endzone.

The Browns defense and running game could have done SOMETHING to help. It was an overall team loss.

Yeah but give us the seahawks or bills defense and see what happens, because I believe they are way more more responsible for losses, even a decent QB couldn't overcome the lack of support that this overrated ,overpaid dee ,Man we just about need a HOF,er QB to overcome this bunch

Overall team loss, but our QB had plenty of opportunities to bring us back, and perhaps, sneak out with a victory.
I don't recall the Taylor miss in the endzone, may have not been watching at that point, but I definitely believe it. Four pretty much "guaranteed" six points, and our QB couldn't cash in on any.
I know I'm being a negative Nancy as of recent, but I don't think my grumbling statements are deviated from the truth.

It was a team loss IMO. If we had scored a td on that 1st and goal on the 1 in the 2nd quarter the end of the game would have been different needing only a fg to tie on the last drive. Year after year even with different players, schemes and coaches this team looks the same and makes the same mistakes. Losing negative atmosphere.

Couple things Vers,
1)Look up the definition of 'hyperbole'... then re-read my post where I admitted to it being a bit thick.
2)In all your blathering, you still didn't reconcile the questions I had about how "seeing what Johhny can do" contributes to the development and implementation of a rookie OC's scheme that has yet to be truly defined. I've also stated that I don't believe Johnny's development and that implementation to be mutually exclusive.
3)The playoff strawman argument... I haven't heard anyone talk about playoff expectations since preseason, and what little of that there was, was predicated on a belief that we had the talent on this team, coupled with average QB play (the most anyone has expected from McCown, which he HAS provided so far), could maybe get us to 9-7, which in any given year could possibly get us a seat on the playoff bus. But the only people who are even mentioning playoffs are people like you (you aint the only one) trying to use that to justify your belief that Johnny should start.
4)I do want to tell you I appreciate you keeping the discussion classy. Don't think I didn't notice the Morton Downey Jr reference you made in calling me Mouth.
Oh, for future reference, when I make statements where the subject of that statement is a general term in meaning, such as "Some people..." its a reflection of a point that I've seen made by more than one poster. There is no veiled reference to any one particular person. If I'm going to make a direct statement to or about you I will either hit reply or quote, or say something to the effect of the following: Hey Vers, quit being a douchebag.
That would just be an example IF I were to stoop so low do something like resorting to name calling to prove my football acumen.
"Hey, I'm a reasonable guy. But I've just experienced some very unreasonable things." -Jack Burton
-It looks like the Harvard Boys know what they are doing after all.
