I've heard about Faces of Death. Never saw it.

A documentary on death, right?

I friend of mine saw one of them and described it to me. That was enough for me, I didn't need to see it. Just too gruesome.

I'll never watch 'Faces of Death.'

I care too much about the health of my soul.

A few of the images I saw (like what a person looks like after they jump off a very high building or get hit by a car apparently going very, very fast)...

Let me put it this way. Thank God for cops. They're the first ones to come across these types of scenes.

I've seen some of the episodes. Never really bothered me all that much in the end.

And, my friend would've made the show just under 2 weeks ago. I wonder what went through the cops and emt's heads as they loaded him up?

Years back, I was behind a car that went left of center and hit a truck. I was at her door before the truck driver (who was shaken up, I'm sure) was out of his truck. I saw her legs basically bent underneath her in the drivers seat. I saw her look at me and take her last breath as I was trying to open the door of her car. (fat chance of that. It took the jaws of life to open the door).

Picked a car up that had been in an accident. OSHP officer told us "be careful, there's brain matter all over the car." (dude pulled out in front of someone, got nailed and as the car spun it hit a telephone pole right on the drivers side window and the dudes head hit the pole). I ended up with a small part of the guys brain on my finger. That WAS a little odd and freaky.

I was about 14 on my way to a midnight movie when we passed an accident. There were a bunch of cops and EMTs walking around in a field with flashlights. I could have sworn I saw a leg (from the knee down) in a shoe, but I wasn't sure. I come to find out the guy was pushing his car without flashers on, and he was rear ended by another car and lost a leg. I'm not sure if they ever found that leg or not. My brother, who was driving, and his buddy told me I was seeing things.

It's a mix of fictional and non-fictional death. The whole thing is made to look real. Found-footage snuff film type stuff. The car accidents are real. The depicted snuff films are obviously fake since that's against the law. I believe there is slaughterhouse footage (no thanks)

When I was like 18 or 19, I went down to the Dayton area (Yellow Springs) with these two girls for the weekend. It was just going to be a bunch of partying with some girl that they knew. Well they knew her, but apararently not that well, as her house was an absolute dump. A million cats, nasty food, dirty furniture, etc.. But the girl had a brother that lived elsewhere, so we avoided going back to the house, and spent time at the brother's place. Well sure enough that night, him and his buddies were watching Faces of Death on a tv in the garage.... The girls asked to turn it off after the satanic death found footage scene.

I've actually had the fall itch for some good horror movies.

In the 3rd movie the guy that got tortured and electrocuted may disagree of the it being real or not.

I think the second one was the slaughterhouse one and imo that was a cheap shot, Just too easy, so yeah that was kind of stupid.

I once watched about 2 minutes of that movie, and I turned it off. It just wasn't my thing.

I always thought there should be background checks and a 10-day waiting period for the purchase of those things.

And piccolos, too. Definitely piccolos. Those things are lethal in anyone's hands.

I agree with you on the piccolos. When I was in marching band playing a tuba, I would wind up in a formation between two piccolos. They'd tune them in practice so one was slightly flat. I swear I still got that ringing in my ears.

Torture devices, they is.
And 1/4-tone tuning makes them nauseating. You could use them to remove paint or wallpaper by just the sound waves alone.

And T-Bones are the loudest of the pitched instruments, by far. There's a beloved quote by Richard Strauss, famed conductor and composer which goes:

"NEVER look at the Trombones, you'll only encourage them. "

I routinely drowned out 7 trumpets when I played trombone during my junior year of high school marching band. There were only three trombones, and that's counting me.

That was for the Tingler.. damn, I saw that at Karochiks theatre in Perryopolis, PA when I was about 8 or so. Scared the hell out of me. (as an aside, it was 15 cents to go to a movie back then)

I am a huge horror movie fan and have seen nearly everything I can get my hands on. I do have a soft spot for horror movies made particularly in the 70's and 80's since I think this was the golden age for those types of films. I also like to find obscure\not so common scary films from that era which are still very good. You'd be surprised how many our very good that you've never heard of. Below is a list of my favorites.

Black Christmas (1974)
Halloween (1978)
Friday the 13th parts 1-7 are good an have a nostalgia factor for me since these were the first horror films I remember watching with friends.
The Burning (1981) - Takes place at a summer camp and some people say its better than the first Friday the 13th film. A cameo appearance is made by Jason Alexander before and played George Costanza in Seinfeld.
Nightmare on Elm Street 1-3 are excellent. Number three in the series is very imaginative and has a creative story line, things go severely downhill after movie number 3 I'm afraid.
Phantasm (1979) - This is a very unique story and just an all around weird movie that is a lot of fun. I would suggest this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Tourist Trap (1979) - This film takes you on such a strange journey and Chuck Connors is one of the main characters like you wouldn't expect.
Happy Birthday To Me (1981) - This film is some what campy and features some of the most creative kills I've ever seen in a horror movie, definitely worth the watch!
The Thing (1982) - As many others have stated this film is just flat out excellent and the story and acting are great. I have the blu-ray edition of this film and it looks and sounds completely amazing!
Re-Animator (1985) - One of the most fun horror movies I've ever seen. The jokes and humor are high and its something you could easily watch multiple times.
April Fools Day (1986) - Creative story line that features teens being invited to an island get away and our killed off one-by-one by a mystery killer who could be one of the guests. An appearance is made by Thomas F Wilson (Biff from Back to the Future) in this movie.
Curtains (1983) - A Canadian slasher film that I have only seen bits and pieces of on youtube but looks like a very promising movie. Takes place at a mansion\ski resort where 6 actresses are auditioning for movie roles. The ice rink scene alone makes this film worth watching. See below:

For awhile, My Wife was into Lifetime.

Every time I'd walk in the room, I'd see:

1. Some dude in a tight-fitting white tank top abusing some hapless woman at the beginning of a movie.
2. Some formerly hapless woman shooting or stabbing an abusive male near the end of a movie.

The killer's mask in this used to scare the CRAP out of me as a kid. One my 'never should have seen that so young' flicks. I was just watching the ice skating chase on Youtube last week.

Others that warped me as a child were...
Salem's Lot (that may have been made for TV but it still scared me to death. Mr. Barlowe!!!)
Prophecy (grizzly bear mutated by pollution on a killing spree!)
Humanoids from the Deep (oh my LORD how trashy. Just see for yourself)
Deadly Eyes (Giant, killer rats played by Dachsunds in rat costumes. Need I say more?)
Piranha. (The best made Jaws knockoff. Kickstarted the great Joe Dante's career)

You'd know better if you'd actually heard me play tuba in marching band. I could drown out everyone if I tried.

As for movies, I will now recommend Student Bodies. It's the only slasher movie I've ever seen that puts the body count on the screen.

Agreed. I actually put a parental lock on that channel when my sons were younger. Every movie was about a woman killing her husband/fiance/boyfriend/etc. and getting away with it. My kids do not need exposed to that kind of thing.

when I was little I used to be frightened of The Wizard of Oz.

now that I'm older I'm only just disturbed by it.

No, although I have no desire to hang out with a bunch of transsexuals.

I did have a unique experience with Rocky Horror, though. I was in a line to see a late night movie, AC/DC Let There Be Rock, and Rocky Horror was playing in the other theater of that building. So, you have a line of people wearing jeans, jean jackets, and more wallets with chains than you could count.

Suddenly, here comes some guy dressed up as Dr. Frankenfurter, or whatever his name is, in leather lingerie, high heels, and a cape. He was doing his best butterfly impersonation, waving his cape as he went down the Let There Be Rock line. Someone stepped out of line and stabbed him. I didn't see it happen, but I did see the butterfly hit the ground. Let's just say we missed the movie due to the cops wanting to interview everyone, as the stabber was a guy in blue jeans, jeans jacket, boots, just like 90% of the guys in that line. I saw the movie a week later, and Angus Young and Bonn Scott were bombed all the way through it.
