Let little Johnny sit on the bench and develop!
Why mention it? It's obvious that's exactly what they are doing yet you seem upset about how the team leadership is handling things.

Did he play against us? (Babin)
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I do have one ? I hope someone can answer. Why is our d so bad? We signed and drafted players this past offseason to improve it and we regressed. The d last year was somewhat better you would think with the additions we would improve. Is it the scheme, poor coaching, lack of a true leader, what? It's too bad because even with a top 20 d we would probably be 4-1. I think we have reasonable talent but no real playmakers... nobody that anybody really fears and says, "No matter what, we have to know where that guy is". We have a lot of nice pieces ...

It's our LB's. Dansby has lost a step & is getting blown out at the point off attack, constantly. He makes tackles, but there 5 yds. down field. He also is having trouble getting into the lane on his drops & is too slow to close when given the opportunity.
We can't control the edge, either we give it up by committing inside or we are stuck on the edge giving no inside help in run support. I would love to see them set the edge, loop in behind, & get the RB before he hits the hole for once, but they can't because they're light-weights, playing out of position, or just too inexperienced.
We have no thumpers to shed & fill the inside lanes & we have no one to squeeze the edges on first & second down.
Maybe when Robertson returns or we might want to consider giving Pullard or Cam Johnson a chance.

this is what I have been trumpeting since before the draft.
The fix to the run D was not on the edge but right there with our ILB, too light and too slow. we commit too much to the inside to protect them and that is how / why we lose the edge.
This coupled with the over pursuit form our OLB and we have a recipe for disaster.

PFF is very flawed. Josh McCown was our lowest rated player on PFF this past weekend.

Is Vers on a timeout or something. I would have thought he'd have posted his weekly Good Bad and Ugly thread..

His name is missing from the user list, so I would assume that means that he is, once again, suspended.

We apparently got one good year out of the veterans we signed.. Dansby and Whitner both seem to be done for.. Add in that we are basically wasting Kruger, and you'll have a few reasons why...

This is why the D-coordinator (Pettine puppet) objected during Camp Cupcake, showing some insight, only to be put back on the string by Pettine. Fool's gold defense over-marketed by Ray-Ray was all it ever was.

It's been hit or miss for a while. But Vers has been consistent this year in putting up the Good, Bad and Ugly thread.. He and I don't get along but he does provoke some good conversation with that thread. If he is truly gone, I'll miss it until his return. Won't miss much else about him, but that I will miss.

Remember that Dansby is playing through a severe foot injury. He's toughing it out because the Browns have nothing behind him with Robertson injured too. Kirksey was getting less snaps than Carder, which should prove to the last one that he's a pure 3rd down coverage LB, at least a good one at that, but not much of a blitzer. He was and still is better suited to a 4-3. Another wasted high pick. He simply sucks vs the run, not tough enough, he's a 4-3 OLB/SS tweener. Good athleticism, good in coverage, the rest of his game will never develop to average standards, a part time player. One of many Farmer seems to fall in love in. List is full of them, Duke, Cooper, Shelton, Kirksey, Orchard. And those are considered his "successful" picks. Sigh. Guy can't detect a three down player for his life, pathetic.

I think Pullard could be a three down player. I'd like to see them cut or IR Draughn (who is currently adding no value whatsoever) and bring up Pullard if Dansby is hurting so much and Robertson is out of commission.

From what I remember, Pullard was an incredibly soft ILB on tapeshying away from contact, which obviously is a big no-no at the position. If anything he's better suited for a 4-3 MLB covered up by two DT. He wasn't much of a prospect for me to be blunt, but I agree that Draughn brings nothing. There's much better talent around the league. I'd like to see a true run stuffing NT added to stop the bleeding. Bring back Kitchen or what happened to UDFA Terry Williams?
The Jets have a couple of players on their PS that I liked, WR Titus Davis and ILB T.Jones. Jones is a pure two down ILB, but a stud at that. Platoon him with Kirksey, which they do with Robertson and Carder anyway. LJ Fort is on the Steelers PS and a couple of good centers are available too, ie Dillon Day. OG Matias on the Titans. Didn't you like them? C A.Reiter on the Redskins, liked him
Take a flyer on those

He has not done well with his opportunities. Also, you think we have problems with edge runs now, put him in and see how it goes. a couple of good centers are available too, ie Dillon Day. OG Matias on the Titans. Didn't you like them? C A.Reiter on the Redskins, liked him
Take a flyer on those Yes, I really liked Day and Matias going into the draft. But I'm not sure that bringing in someone midseason is going to help much, especially on the OL. Not going to boot Erving off the team for either of those guys, and he's our only backup interior OL. I still like Erving better as a center than Day. I love Matias, but again, where is the spot? Carrying 4 RBs, 4 TEs, and 3 QBs really limits the flexibility on the roster for depth positions.

Andra Davis had a crap ton of tackles.. He was also not a very good LB. Hell towards the end of his career Ray Lewis would get credit for a tackle if he walked up to the pile after the whistle had blown..

If that's true, I commend him for toughing it out.
But it's also hurting the team. He just didn't seem to have a lot of fight in him, again, unless the play was right in front of him. That was just my general impression. I didn't focus on him every single play and I didn't do a lot rewinding and watching the plays over again.
But I'm usually a follow the ball viewer without really focusing on specific players on each play (unless I make a conscious effort to do so), and I noticed Dansby kind of half assing it without really looking for it.
I actually hope it's a foot injury and not an age thing.
