well i never said drop johnny but yea. still do.

What makes you think Mallet could be even remotely decent let alone good?

Bill Belichick drafted him. He was backup for Brady for a number of years. Belichick doesn't keep a guy around that doesn't do the job.

He was there for 3 years on his rookie deal. He had 4 attempts in 3 years. As soon as it made sense to get rid of him and he could get something for him, he was gone. Even Belichick makes a mistake once in a while.

Actually DC...Belicheck has a history of getting rid of the back up as long as Brady is there. They are all over the place and it is all on the shoulders of the one season Brady couldn't play and the back up Cassel who wasn't even a starter in college did pretty darn good. Brady's backups are all over the league.

Will the current one stay? As Brady is heading into years that normally have the peak achieved and the other direction is coming...but he is still going strong. So who knows.

That's usually because everyone wants a piece of someone who has been under the wing of Tom Brady. Just in Mallet's case, being late and the attitude/immaturity issues - not many teams, regardless what depth and how good the starter is - will tolerate that nonsense.

You figure that Garoppolo is the QB that is virtually off limits for as you said Tab, Brady is really getting up there in age regardless how well he's still playing - you'd have to assume the body has a limit eventually.

I heard on the radio the other day that Brady thinks he can play another 10 years. Don't know if that was tongue-in-cheek or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if he played a year or two into his 40's. Which would mean Jimmy G gets to cool his jets for another 4-5 years, if he stays in N.E. for his second contract.

He's definitely showing no signs of slowing down, and I believe he's into some really unorthodox methods of staying in shape and getting his body ready to play (I recently read an article to that effect). Will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few years.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Who was the guy that was absolutely in love w/Jimmy G before the draft? Was it Razor? Hitman? One of those guys.

Truthfully, I wasn't nearly as high on Jimmy G as that poster was, but I have to admit that the kid has looked very good when he's been on the field. He's got a presence about him that screams "winner."

I initially thought BB draft Jimmy G to be Brady's replacement, but Brady did say he wanted to play another 10 years. Like Dave said, even if he plays another 5 years or so, that's a long, long time for Jimmy G to wait.

I was one of the guys pimping Garoppolo. I liked his release, size, and how the scouts raved about his "arm talent". Of course, you worry about the level of competition when a guy comes from Div II, but he passed the eyeball test for me. Like you said, he seemed to have the "It".

Maybe he'll be the next Vinny Testaverde, but just play better in his later years lol.
