Considering that his team is 3-2, and that he has missed the last 2 games with injury, he might want to shut it. Further, his statement that if he got 20 targets/game he could be a 100 yard receiver and score a TD per game...... well, I would hope so. I cannot think of too many starting receivers in the NFL who would not do so with 20 targets/game. crazy

This kind of stuff almost helps justify Farmer's position of not taking receivers at the top of the draft.

Anyway .... on to the fun and frivolity .....

Sammy Watkins to Bills: 'You're making me look bad,' target me more - CBSSports.com
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-foot...-target-me-more

After three games, Sammy Watkins' statline reads as follows: seven receptions, 12 targets, 99 yards, one touchdown. For a second-year player who was the fourth player selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, those numbers can only be considered a disappointment.

Of course, Watkins has been dealing with a calf injury that has sidelined him for the past two games, so those lowly numbers can be at least partially explained by circumstances outside of his control. Still, Watkins isn't happy about his role in Buffalo. In an interview with The Buffalo News, Watkins made that abundantly clear.

Here's Watkins complaining about not getting enough targets:

"That's what I get mad at," Watkins said, "when I don't get looked at. I can look at film and his eyes go straight that way and I'm not getting looked at, at all. That's when I get frustrated. When I have one-on-one coverage, go to me. I don't care what's going on over there. I don't care if he's open. When I get one on one, just target me."
According to Watkins, if he got 20 targets per game, he'd be scoring a touchdown and racking up 100 yards every game.

Here's Watkins complaining about not getting enough targets and telling the Bills that they're making him look bad:

"Everybody looks at you getting zero catches, zero yards but when you look on film 90 percent of the time you're open," Watkins said. "I understand that these guys are young and they need some time to trust me. Once we get that trust, it'll be different. But for me, I need the ball at least 10 times -- I need 10 targets -- and I'll be fine with however many yards I get. And that's what I addressed in talking with my agent. We reached out to a couple people and tried to pull some strings like, 'Hey, I need my targets. You came up to draft me and I'm not getting targets -- that's a problem. You're making me look bad and you're making yourself look bad. Why not make both of us look good?'"

Watkins is right -- he deserves more than four targets per game. But getting 10 seems incredibly unlikely, especially on this Bills team. For starters, the team's leader in targets -- tight end Charles Clay -- has compiled just 33, or 6.6 per game. Out of the wide receivers, Percy Harvin leads the team with 30 total targets, or six per game.

Furthermore, as a team, the Bills have run the ball 11 more times than they've thrown it. And that's hardly a surprise. In the offseason, Rex Ryan even said that his playbook would have the most running plays in the "history of man."

To put it more clearly, Sammy Watkins probably isn't going to be seeing 10 passes thrown his way in every game for the remainder of the season. But he could be back in the lineup on Sunday when the Bills host the undefeated Bengals.

Unfortunately for Watkins, there's a chance Tyrod Taylor will miss the game due to an MCL injury, which means he won't be able to start building the kind of trust he spoke about in his interview.

It's certainly worth noting that Watkins wants to make it clear that he cares about winning over his individual numbers, as he tweeted the following to Tyler Dunne, who wrote and reported the original story.

Sammy Watkins ✔@sammywatkins
@TyDunne Wish you could have added the part we have so many playmakers and me not caring about numbers I care about winning.. Grow up.. Sir.
7:20 PM - 15 Oct 2015

Tyler Dunne ✔@TyDunne
@sammywatkins Believe that was written. From the story: The difference here is that Watkins vows his call for the ball is team-centric.

What does this have to do with the Browns?
Farmer has already passed on enough great talent to be fired 10 times.

This particular forum is "Pure Football".

The forum description says: Discuss the Cleveland Browns and other related PURE NFL football topics here; Players, Coaches, FA options, etc, as they pertain to the game of football in the NFL. Not to be confused with the "Gameday" forum, which is utilized for discussion of this week's game.

This more than qualifies for placement in Pure Football. Not all Pure Football topics have to be about the Browns.

one of the problems with Rex Ryan's teams is they have the green light to "express" themselves. While it's a good thing in principle to let the grown men have freedom ... eventually it leads to personal fouls and media mishandlings.

What a terribly disappointing article about a young promising player. He's already thinking about his next contract. Then to get into a bit of a Twitter scuffle with the author after? I would be even more disappointed if I were reading the article and he was a Brown.

at least you knew they wanted to ball and want to make huge plays.

he would've been better than drafted gilbert, for sure.

Another guy that has done nothing in the league crying like a little bitch. The guy cant stay on the field and complaining about more touches. How bout they make him the ball boy the next time he is out with an injury. Just like Mingo, cant stay on the field and crying cause the world is unfair.

Isn't that name calling? Looking at our first round busts the last 2 years and very questionable front office moves, "that" is the ignorance.

I have ZERO interest in Sammy. Since he is not on our roster, I was curious what the point of this thread was. You tried to give him a Farmer connection I guess. Whatevaaaaaaaaaaaa.... willynilly

Another loud mouth who has yet to prove anything. Trade deadline is when? To me guys like him do this hoping to get traded o where they are babied.

When he said, basically, screw those guys and throw it to me, his true colors shining. Is he mad because he's not a fantasy football star? IMO, that's what this league is turning into. The "me" generation.

I guess he can, but IMO, he doesn't have the right to. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is how I feel.

These young guys want it all and they want it now. Sometimes you need to earn it. There are other examples around the league where star recievers are getting less looks, as QBs are spreading the ball around more, with short passing games.

Bottom line is it is a team sport, and if the team is succeeding, shut your mouth. It's not about the individual player, it should be team first. If they were 0-5, I could understand being frustrated, but still team should be first.

The guy wants the star treatment without earning it.

I posted the story because it is a fairly major NFL story.

If you have no interest, then I suggest that you pass on reading such threads. The thread was clearly titled, and you had no need to even open the thread if you had no desire to read it.

The oddest thing about his comments is that he hasn't even played in the last two games. And didn't Buffalo already have their bye? Hasn't he only played in two games thus far?

I believe that he has played in 3 games, but he has underwhelmed thus far, I am sure that it is frustration on his part, more than anything, but it sure doesn't make him look good.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins responded Tuesday evening to fans critical of his missing time to injuries this season, calling them "losers" in a now-deleted comment on an Instagram photo.

Watkins, who posted a photo on Instagram of him and his daughter at Disney World during the Bills' bye week, called fans who questioned his durability "losers" and told them to "continue working y'all little jobs for the rest of y'all lives."

So far this season, the production of Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins hasn't been in line with his talent. That's not entirely Watkins' fault.

Watkins has missed three of the Bills' past four games because of calf and ankle injuries. He played in all 16 games as a rookie last season despite broken ribs and a late-season hip injury that later required surgery.

"To all the people that have a problem with me being injured you guys go out there and play this sport it's a 100% injury rate," Watkins' now-deleted Instagram comment said. "I'm not first or last person that's gone be injured difference from me and you guys y'all mad and I'm not get a life and goto work stop worrying about my job because I'm good on this end and forever will be losers most of you just wish to be in this position so continue working y'all little jobs for the rest of y'all lives since everyone once a response here go one have a blessed day."

Watkins later tweeted, "Message wasn't for fans for whomever have a problem with athletes being injured," before also deleting that post.

On Wednesday, Watkins posted a statement on Instagram explaining his comments but acknowledging they were "inappropriate."

The 2014 fourth overall pick made headlines earlier this month when he told The Buffalo News he was frustrated with his lack of targets in the Bills' offense and that his agent had contacted the team to tell them, "You're making me look bad, and you're making yourself look bad. Why not make both of us look good?"

Watkins has 11 catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns this season.

How many early first round picks did they spend on WR then got arguably the best in Calvin Johnson. They picking top 5 again this year their breakout season?

Well... I really wanted that kid in that draft BUT I'm glad we passed. That attitude is stinky.

You opened the floodgates, should have been prepared for the after-effect and calling the fans losers is not the way to handled that.

My friend directs the news for WIVB Channel 4 in Buffalo. She said their sports dude is furious with Watkins as are most in the area. . He is trying to get him in for an interview. Of course, I am a Watkins freak and want to go to the station if he does. Her text to me when this broke was " your dude has diarrhea of the mouth".

I never wanted Watkins in that draft. I actually have complimented Farmer and will continue to compliment him for not drafting Watkins.

See bro, I try to be fair when debating and not just point out ONE SIDE. I think the truth is far more important than winning a stupid debate on a message board.

I can't believe Watkins called the fans losers and said that crap about getting back to their little jobs.

Anytime you call out the fans is a recipe for disaster. Especially in a die hard city like Buffalo, Cleveland, Philly, etc. Especially when you haven't produced squat.

Brains wanted.

My brother and I were watching that draft at BW3.

I was happy that we traded down because I was wanting Anthony Barr or Odell Beckham.

I was ticked that we traded up to #8, but didn't complain about Gilbert because he was rated pretty high and liked the idea of a really good 2nd corner.

I was totally ticked off when we traded up again for Johnny Money Signs. I was sure we were going to take Bridgewater and nobody between 22 and 26 was going to take a QB. I would have taken Carr above JFF as well. The guy had too much baggage. I thought with all 3 guys still out there that we might even trade down again.

I was Okay with Bitonio but wanted Jordan Matthews with that pick.

I was totally shocked that we didn't get a WR after that. The news about Gordon had already hit. I did not have the greatest opinion of Farmer in his first draft.

Hmmmmm............you are a hard guy to figure out. That's not a bad thing....LOL

I didn't like Watkins either. I mean, I recognized his talent, but I didn't want him at 4.

I loved Beckham Jr, but gave that up when I saw him move way up the boards throughout the year. He started out w/a 3rd round grade and I was all over that. Captain Obvious, right?

I liked Barr, as well.

Didn't know much about Gilbert.

I have to admit that I had Johnny as my number two qb. I did say he was either boom or bust.

I was wrong about Carr. I thought he was soft in the pocket and would not take a hit. I thought he would take too many sacks. I was wrong. He's a very good qb.

I didn't know much about Bitonio.

I really liked Jordan Matthews, too.

Yeah, after the announcement about Gordon being suspended, I was shocked that we did not draft a WR in such a strong class.
