I try not to beat things to death, or even repeat myself with my posts on things. But I posted on DJ's "trade deadline" thread that I didn't want Farmer making any more personnel moves for the Browns, and I think it bears repeating.

Jimmy: do not allow Farmer to do any more damage than he's already done; put the ki-bosh on any of his proposed deals now.

Better yet is it time for this whole circus to leave town? Too bad LA wouldn't want our garbage.

We have maybe 5 guys on this team that are even worth mentioning and Thomas is by far the best of them. He is a top 3 LT, future hall of famer and there are no draft picks or trades that can equal that value minus the Colts giving us Andrew Luck straight up for him.

I understand the frustration with this team. I have been watching this same crap for 20+ years and I too feel like simply washing my hand with all of them. But at the same time I love rooting for the Browns and still have hope that the ship can be righted. The first step to that is NOT giving away your best player and hoping the pick you get in return turns into a complete better team. Do you honestly believe we would be able to draft a better player than Thomas and even "if" we could, would this team actually make the right choice or waste the pick on another Trent Richardson.

McCown is getting killed because he holds the ball forever.

This should be tattooed on the forehead of every McCown fan.

The idea of trading him is among the worst ever floated by the media and by members of this board.

Say it out loud to see how stupid it sounds, "I think we should trade Joe Thomas, a first ballot HOFer, so we can use that draft pick to draft another half-assed DB. Or better still, use that draft pick to draft an unproven replacement LT".

The one thought that keeps coming to my mind is what will the offense be like when JT and Mack are gone. They won't be around forever, replacements for any position have been consistent failure, and the poor production on offense won't attract top notch lineman to replace them.

I don't always keep an eye on Thomas because quite frankly, he rarely makes a mistake and it's pretty boring, but he was dominating in the last Cincy game.

I don't believe he gave up even one pressure. That with both Erving and Paztor playing next to him. That is pretty special.

We'll be right back to where we were before & after Ross Verba.... crying about how we need to address the crappy OLine.

We are right on the cusp of developing a young Franchise QB whether it be Manziel...or a Cook (take your pick from the draft...or Both.

The last thing you want to do is take a Great Prospect and make them damaged goods. Right now we have one constant - Joe Thomas will have his man without a chip block and ride him around back of the pocket - also a kid like Manziel will learn if that Pass rusher is not taking an inside charge...that B gap is a Constant to rely on to escape as Joe rides his man deep.

This thread was bogus the first time it showed...no reason to give the author double grief by bringing it up again. We got 4-5 good years from Joe T. No shame on have a HOF spend his entire career here.

Dumbest post ever...sorry for the insult. But he who stated he is only going through the motions to collect his pay check...smh Thats why he has played without crying or reporting a torn MCL more than once and other given injuries. He just takes Wed. off to get those 3 good heal days between conflicts. I guy doesn't play EVERY SNAP hurt or not just to collect his pay check. Also with the season over for us he was crushing it on Sunday!

We have less than that. I'm 98% certain that he is retiring at the end of his current contract.

Just a scenario...

We turn this around and not by talk by making the playoff and our young QB gets better. Contract is up we ask Joe to make a 2 year extension to finish what we started.

If its the same old same old and we get to .500 or worse I agree he hangs them up. We are on the cusp of great things I think he would want to win the ring and go for it!

Sure, that's possible, I suppose..... but I don't think that will even remotely happen.

He'll be at 12 years in the league when his current deal is up. That's a HoF-length career right there, and he will be a 34 year old tackle and almost certainly be in decline by then. I think that he will be more than ready to walk away from the game knowing that he was one of the best. We have 3 more seasons with him left. Barring a miracle, I'd pretty much bank on that.

Well hoping to give him reason to string out a couple more years thats all.

On the thread title "False Start Thomas"

Lets see his stance against Edge rushers is having himself blind to the ball at the snap He has to go on the QBs cadence and/or silent count.

Now how many changes have we had at Starting QB in his tenure with us....19??? just guessing Considering Manziels start this weekend puts the count to 8 or 9 changes at starting QB this season.

Keep in mind we got crappy refs who listen to the opposing coaches sideline every down yelling he started too early. So that its about the same start every time sometimes they call him off sides. Rarely will it be a complete jump offsides on a miss count!!!

Just couldn't hold that in any longer...

Honestly, anyone that watches this team and their conclusion is that Thomas needs to go... I just don't know.

Replacing him is so low on the list of things we can do to improve.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

JT is nothing but class. Too bad his entire career has been a waste of talent. I feel sorry that he didn't get on a team with half as much class as he has.

I agree with you, Joe is not the type of player that wants to milk every red cent out of his body. If would could trade him for a first round draft pick I would. We need to revamp this offensive line. We need maulers not cream puffs. We need big nasty guys to play in this division not finesse type of linemen. Only way I could see Joe playing more than 2 years if he had a chance to win a ring, and we all know how close the browns are at that.

To answer the thread title, "NO!!!" JT is not done, and Eving can't fill those shoes.

This is class player, HoF by end of contract. May false start, but given the QB variety and how competitive he plays, and an every down guy, he will get a few.

For me, he is the "Face of the Franchise." No more stupid trade talk questions, thanks. If you are in a bad situation to begin, the give away your best, I see it as a worsening situation. The draft will not replace this guy, and given our drafts and busts, we are stupid to make moves for more picks like we have. I believe you can get better drafting for need or taking real skilled people at a position. This FO needs to keep JT and also find a true football guy to get true talent in here. That won't be a short process.

No way in Hell you trade him unless he specifically demands it. Under no circumstances. None.

Yeah, all one has to do is remember what it was like in the years before we had a good LT and how this board screamed for one every year.

Now we have the best LT in the business and some want to get rid of him.

WTF

Joe has a total of six penalties this year. He has once again played every snap in every game. He never needs any help from a TE. I think you need to quit drinking with Johnny if you can't hang wink

Remarkable how some Browns fans hear some idiot talking head run off the mouth or read a story suggesting JT is not the player he used to be...and suddenly those folks become a "parrot"..repeating what they hear and read.

Best way to prove you don't have a clue..suggest trading the Browns best offensive lineman.

How many years do you think Joe will play? I know some o line men play till there late 30's but I don't see Joe in the category. Also, where do we rank in rushing this year or last year or any of the last 5 years?

This is not going to be popular, but again, if this team is 3-4 years away from any kind of contention, then does it make sense to keep Thomas when he'll be 33-34 when this team becomes a contender? Wouldn't it be better to get assets for him, and (hopefully) have a couple of useful players when the team turns the corner?

Joe just turned 31, but he has been remarkably productive. I cannot remember the last time he even missed a snap, and he has never missed a game. He plays through pain, and injuries that would probably put another player on the bench. He is a testament to perseverance and commitment. He is a sure fire Hall of Fame player.

However, he is also an asset. Once again, how long will he be able to play? How long will he want to play? Will he want to re-sign here when this deal is up, if we manage to turn the corner by then?

There are a lot of things that have to go into the equation, and I would not be afraid to trade him just because he is Joe Thomas. It would be hard to trade him, and I would want a LOT for him, but it could be the right move, for the right (blockbuster type) deal.

3-4 is the minimum, I'd say.

Unless we make the run in his last year, Joe will retire before we have a shot at anything.
