I see it the same way, Peen.

Unfortunately, I have this sick feeling that is exactly what is going to happen. I think Scheiner has Haslam's ear and that suits will stay and Pet will be their sacrificial lamb.

I want Farmer gone. Keeping him would be continuity just for the sake of continuity, just so we can say we are not rebooting again. Anyone who thinks he should be given another chance ... convince me that he has shown that he is capable of being competent at his job. And don't give me the low round success and the UDFA success ... as good as that has been it does not come close to offsetting the disaster that is his early round performance.

I am not opposed to keeping Pet, but if him losing his job is the price to pay to get an actual GM in here, then I think it is worth it. Sorry, coach.

In Pettine's 11/3 press conference, just minutes after the trade deadline, Pettine clearly looks unhappy when asked if the Browns made any trades...

On if the Browns made trades before the deadline:

"No."

On if the Browns were close to making any trades:

"I'll let (General Manager) Ray (Farmer) talk about it. I wasn't involved. I was in gameplan meetings."

No doubt in my mind that Farmer is not up to the task..but hey, the guy making that decision in Cleveland is Jimmy Haslam, so there is no way to figure out what he does.

What did you want him to say?

"Did you make any trades before the deadline?"

The Browns did not. How much detail is required to answer a yes/no question?

On if the Browns were close to making any trades:

"I'll let (General Manager) Ray (Farmer) talk about it. I wasn't involved. I was in gameplan meetings."

This is also true on .... oh ... every team that doesn't have the head coach pulling GM duties. Maybe Farmer passed Pettine in the hallway and says, "Hey, I got a call from the Broncos looking to trade for Joe Thomas." (laugh)

To which Pettine says, "Only if the return makes the Herschel Walker deal look like a loss for the Cowboys."

Given those parameters, were the Browns close to making a trade? Who knows? I am sure that Farmer, or any GM on any team, does not disrupt game planning with updates every 5 minutes. It was an entirely appropriate response to the question.

Sometimes people look for problems where none exist. I think that this is one of those cases.

Using NFL press conferences for anything other than filler in a crappy article is a useless exercise. They basically say nothing.

Well at least we know Haden wants to stay in Cleveland..

I assume thats why he kept playing like crap and getting hurt anyways....

He's like a badger. Once he gets his teeth into something he will not let go, can't be made to listen to logic and will continue to look for any little thing he feels might add to the story.

Hell, we'll still be hearing his version of this next year.

I don't care who called whom, Farmer engaged in talks to trade JT and according to some reports, it went way beyond one simple call.

The bottom line, it makes no sense to begin selling off the best parts of this team so Ray Farmer can have more draft picks in 2016...it's what I call a lose-lose situation.

There's a difference in believing it never happened and believing Farmer was actually trying. I'm not sure what really happened and neither are you.

Like the term "shopping". Was Farmer actively seeking a trade, or was he listening to offers and negotiating the possibility? We simply don't know. You're painting a scenario that exists in your own mind when the reality is, we simply have no idea one way or the other.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
