I never said that my friend. My only point is if Joe has high marks for his pass blocking, but ends up with a negative grade, what other are these guys graded on other than blocking....I guess Joe had one offsides, I am sure that somehow factors.

No, he said he wanted better production from the pocket because Pettine only wants to win on his own terms...

Excluding the first drive against the Jets

McCown's average first half over 6 games...

11.8 for 18.8 (62.8%), 125.8 yards (6.7 ypa), .7 TD, .17 INT, 1.7 rushes for 9.3 yards.. and we've averaged scoring 8 points.. (this does not include turnovers which cost us points)

Manziel at the half last night was

11 for 18 (61.1%), 128 yards (7.1 ypa), 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 rushes for 11 yards... and we scored 10 points.... and gave up 0 from the offense..

His numbers are almost EXACTLY THE SAME as the average first half from Josh McCown... but when has Pettine ever walked off the field at the half and said we need more production from Josh (in or out of the pocket)? Never.

Not to beat a dead horse brownie but the 'stay in the pocket more' issue just does not make sense to me. I keep rewwatching the game in slow-mo and please tell me if I see this wrong b/c I am not an X & O guy...

take the first series...

Johnny's first pass: 97 [Atkins] blows up Greco who gets pushed up the middle into Johnny's mug...Thomas also gets pushed back at the same time and Johnny has to escape almost immediatly because he is 'man-whiched' within 2 seconds... you can seek Benji almost making his break and would have been open with another 1/2 second.

Johnny's second pass - Nelson comes umblocked off the corner and Bibbs misses his block at the same time so Johnny makes an fall-back throw for a first down - but still in the pocket

third pass - good pocket and he misses throw

fourth pass - 3-4 step drop with Immedidate pressure up the middle again from Schwartz / Bitonio / thomas..Mack and Greco are on 1 guy 7 yards up field. Johnny has to move again...

All this said, I noticed that our interior line on pass block seems to fall back the same distance as Johnny is setting up...is that normal? When we were running good with Crow, the forward push was there +2 yards from LOS...when we pass, the middle line falls back 4 yards from the get go and our line loses position..

I keep re-watching and I see Johnny stay in the pocket when necessary and moving when forced out...

that being said - he rarely moves up in the pocket but moves laterally...

My question then is: "Where does the O-line establish the LOS during passblocking"?

I don't. I'm not as down on Schwartz as some, but Joe is a first ballot hall of famer. I thought Schwartz played pretty well last year. He took to the Shanahan zone blocking... but he's no where NEAR Joe Thomas. Not many are.

It's hard to take you and Deputy seriously when you talk about the position because your hate for Manziel is so freaking obvious.

I think a couple of you are disappointed that he didn't play worse, because you wanted to rip him so bad. Now you are both resorting to making things up.

I actually meant that as more of a question. It seems to make sense to me from a purely physical standpoint. Also, I'm not taking a shot at Manziel, it's as much an issue with the WR's we have. It would seem to me that having a shorter QB, it would mean that much more to have taller receivers. A taller quarterback can get away with throwing "down" to smaller guys. That's no endorsement of McCown's play, he's made his own case this year and over his career.
