I guess the 1999 team was much more talented than this team.

Well, our 1st Rd pick DID start that season didn't he?

The one thing I am most confident of is that Ray Farmer needs to go. If this report is true it is good news for the team. It will be interesting to see how the team will fill the position if they decide to keep Pettine.

It should honestly come as no surprise that Farmer is set to take that long walk down the hall in Berea. His draft record has been fairly unforgivable at through two drafts and 22 total picks.

Finally some good news. Well, only if the report is true.

It's not just his draft picks, but his decisions regarding which players to not resign and which players to bring in. We've gotten older and slower.

I agree that Farmer has set this franchise back years. I typically hate to see guys get fired, but he really needs to go.

I hope Pet stays on the job, unless we bring Saban in.

If Farmer is gone, I wonder if we have anyone currently in the organization who could step in (assuming we keep Pett)?

Another GM to bring in "his" guys... Lots of turnaround coming.. but I guess it needs to happen. Hopefully whoever it is, they dont have a huge ego. Keep the little talent we do have here.

Report: Ray Farmer To Be Fired At End Of Season

According to Omar Kelly of the Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Browns are heading for their bi-annual shakeup, and it looks like it will start with General Manager Ray Farmer:

It should honestly come as no surprise that Farmer is set to take that long walk down the hall in Berea. His draft record has been fairly unforgivable at through two drafts and 22 total picks.

Notably, Mike Pettine is not named. I don’t think he’s necessarily safe, but I do think there’s a shot that he can keep his job. Even though the Browns have been losing games by a franchise record margin (15.8 points per game on average), there is no denying that the Browns have not quit on Pettine yet. Winning one of the final two games is probably a must for Pettine, but I think he has a chance.

Farmer has been one of the most damaging forces in franchise history. A general manager using 4 first round picks and only adding two starters is uncannily bad. A general manager starting two years of drafts with 22 picks and not completely rebuilding a franchise is unforgivable.

The tweet that sparked this guy to write up a report is two days old. No one in the media world has ran with this....yet.

Still, it seems like the odds are not in Farmer's favor but the written 'report' is coming from one dude who manages a website dedicated to the Browns that saw this tweet.

I was reacting to a Bengal fans post...just to let you know.

Some of us hope and dream about getting in the Post Season and then of course the Cinderella dream of Super Bowl but in reality just about 0% think SB. I believe in building blocks I expect us to improve to be a post season team and then improving off of that to be a SB contender.

I think the article written on Farmer is sort of ridiculous. I do get the vague references on Pettine concentrating on the Offense. But the description and timing was just incorrect.

1. Shanny had no intentions of staying here even when he signed the contract. Him and Quinn? had an (understanding well talks, Quinn let this slipped out in a presser)agreement during the season to be together. Shanny used the Texting as an excuse for the press. Pettine sat down with all and settled everything in house well before it was known that there was texting...ooops let out by Shanny how convenient...lol laugh

2. Pettine said he had interest in the Offense well before Shanny left he said it when he first got here. This did not force anything. Actually Flip has done a good job. Would he had without Pettine. Remember we hired that guy from college fame to help make the playbook.

jmho hope I got the correct thread...lol laugh

Hope Browns find their miracle worker. You know that rookie who can turn a sack of <<beep>> into a pot of gold in two years. It hasn't worked the 200 other attempts maybe the 201st will answer all our prayers.

I simply don't understand. If you have a leaky pipe, you don't tear down the house and build new to fix. Yet, it is perfectly acceptable building a football team. Fans forget the struggles Browns had luring good coaches.

Haslam struggled finding a HC let alone a good coach in his last search. Does anyone recall Pettine's credentials? Second best high school coach in the state of Pennsylvania. Now fans think Haslam, with his solid reputation, will hire a reputable and experience GM.

Careful what you wish for it could get even worse. Simply look at the current coaching staff and name all with NFL experience. Everyone still think Ernie Accorsi type is taking the job?

He's blown pretty much all our many first rounders. I'm not sure how you justify in the slightest of natures keeping him.

If the article is legit, then yes - that's great that for our team. Ray should already have a few boxes in his office to pack up with.

Thank goodness we have a Defensive minded head coach and a great Defensive Coordinator!

I guess the 1999 team was much more talented than this team.

The '99 team lost by an average margin of about 14 ppg, this team is currently at about 9.5... the 15.8 number is just the last handful of games. And for the record, the 2000 season was far worse than the '99 season at just over 16 ppg..

Not that any of that makes it ok, but this season will not be record setting...

The guy who filled in for Farmer while he was suspended, Bill Kuharich, is a former GM. Also, Lake Dawson has interviewed for a bunch of GM openings and was the Titans VP of Player Personnel. I would say those are the two most likely candidates if we hire from within (which is how we got Farmer).

Haslam has never really hired his own GM. It seems like Banner was foisted on him by the league and Farmer was an emergency hire because it was so late in the process. If I were him I would want to do a full search.

Didn't see this as I was working on that last post between business...lol

By the way, I hear that changes in Cleveland are brewing, and expected at the end of the season. Ray Farmer is about to get the shank.

So all based on this tweet...all depends who his source is. Buddies in the Sports journalism world on speculating? or Actual in the house friends???

I've made no bones about it - I want all to stay well almost all. I've stated O'Neil out and new OL coach as Muller is already out.

If Farmer has to go I'd be ok with that as long as its not a complete blow up. If there is friction between Farmer n Pettine one has to go I'd rather it be Farmer. Need that GM and Pettine on the same page hope he has somebody in mind. Usually when guys dream about being HC they have a entire list of guys they want to do it with GM included. Maybe the guy with Jets who got fired. He was called brilliant and lousy pending who you read.

If Farmer stays I want him to get better but if he has friction and is trying a power thing with Pettine I hope Pettine wins.

We have players Manziel, Whittner, Joe T and Barnidge, I'm sure more to come that will go to bat for Pettine staying.

I always said as long as we don't lose the players I want to stand pat. GM doesn't get that close thing like the HC so I doubt anyone goes to bat for him...Actually in the past I think it was Pettine who went to bat for him and cleaned up after him.

I just don't want the full Monty on this.

jmho

He needs at least one merit badge.

thanks the guy Pettine brought in to help make the playbook. Ok it does make a difference and give it a "LITTLE" more credibility cause I assume its his speculation rather than in the discussion to know.

but thanks for educating me wink

The bigger question is: "Why is Ray Farmer still employed?"

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.
