JF couldn't even survive the bye week before giving the staff a reason(s) to regret their decision of making him the starter for the season remainder.

Got to be more going on behind the scenes, and likely very much is. What I don't understand is why not just cut him today? Benched before he really even started, demoted to third string so why not just cut ties all together and move on all together?

And people, please stop comparing him to Gronk. Their positions alone are reason that the comparisons are just silly. Your the QB, you have way more responsibility than any other position on the team.

Hasn't he been saying one thing and doing another for two years now? At least to the Browns, I have no idea what he was doing before this. I wanted to see the kid play and wanted to believe he meant what he said about putting his football career first. Too bad he's full of more BS than desire.

I can only speculate that the Browns organization gave Manziel explicit instructions that there were to be no videos or police bulletins during the bye week.

We will hear the story, or spin in the next day or two.

What makes you think this front office knows anything? Our defense is last in the league, our run game sucks and we are 2-8. They know what their doing I can tell.

well you just saw one get in trouble about it today. went from starter to third..... at the end of the year it will come out he still late/missing meetings, all the same crap as last year...

Got Greg Hardy out here beating women, and pushing coaches on the sideline, and hasn't missed a snap.

Got Manziel drinking LEGALLY, yet he gets demoted to 3rd string.

We do some dumb stuff.. Naw.. not we. THEY!!!! Retarded organization.

In my opinion, the difference between JFF and Gronk is that JFF checked himself into rehab, Gronk has not. Johnny opened that door, so he brought on the added level of scrutiny and repercussion. Therefor, comparing Manziel's party habits with Gronk's is apples and oranges.

All I really care about is if Manziel can play football or not. IMO he has shown with his improvement on the field that he has earned the chance to show if he can lead this team or not. Lot's of players in this league and good ones too party their asses off when they are on break. If he can juggle his personal life and football career FINE! If he doen't and blows up fine too! Cut him at the end of the season, he's not going to stop hanging out with his friends.

If anyone knows John's history, it may make a little sense.

He's from a wealthy family. He is/was a good athlete.

Financially, he had everything handed to him. He was spoiled.

Athletically, he had the ability in h.s. and college to do what he'd always done: exactly what he wanted, when he wanted. How he wanted.

There was an article a couple years back, either in SI, or ESPN the mag about him, his parents, money, golfing with his dad when his dad said he's actually scared of John at times, drinking after the Heisman award ceremony........basically, John did what he wanted, when he wanted. His families money allowed him to do that off the field.

His athletic ability allowed him to do that on the field.

Now, I'm not saying he's an addict - but addicts are prone to saying the right things at the right time to take some heat off them.

He's a victim of himself, a victim of the family money, a victim of being allowed to do what he wants when he wants, and how he wants.

He's been kowtowed to since birth pretty much. He's been allowed to do as he pleases, with only relatively minor repercussions since he was young. He's gotten a "Screw it" attitude. "I'm Johnny, I'll do as I please, and no one will stop me."

Just my opinion.

Mmmm guess I heard wrong. I could have sworn I heard him say that in a interview earlier this year.

Still not the same IMO. Something stinks in Berea.

I seriously doubt he couldn't do it. To me, he WOULDN'T do it. Basically, he put up BOTH his middle fingers to the organization and did what he WANTED to do. Goodbye and good riddance you clown.

All I'll say is this: for as much as everyone loves to use the phrase "where there's smoke, there's fire" around here whenever some rumor pops up, you'd think folks might stop and think to apply it here to this situation.

There's no way that Pettine & Flip make this decision and then take it to Farmer & Haslam - and gets their blessings on it - if there wasn't a whole lot to all of this.

This is not the kind of thing that happens in a vacuum or gets decided lightly or rashly. This is a "last straw/broken camel's back" type thing.

Just some food for thought for everyone wanting to do the standard emotional lashing out at the coaches/FO.

And from the video , where does it show johnny drinking ?

The way I see it, Manziel has probably been sliding into bad habits over the past couple of months, and that's why he did not get a shot at starting earlier. Pettine probably would have pulled his hair out, if he had any, when the police incident happened, but since it was obvious that Manziel did nothing except have a couple of drinks, he let things slide.

However, Manziel is back to hanging out with the girl he was with when he got into his drinking problems. He has started drinking, and it appears, drinking to excess. How far behind are the rest of the bad habits that led to his problems last year? Do you take the chance? One thing that really struck me was when Manziel's High School (IIRC) coach, a guy he loves, said that he was very concerned that Manziel is drinking again. However, it was "just" 2 drinks, so I was inclined to let that slide. The crazy ex-girlfriend/girlfriend again was of far more concern to me.

Anyway, it is evident that partying is more important to Manziel than being the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns. Is that the kind of guy you tie the future of a franchise to? I don't.

A guy without Manziel's history goes out and has a few, and acts the fool, so what? But a guy with Manziel's past .... well, that sure looks like it's heading towards trouble.

I hope the kid gets his life straightened out, because he sure seems to be heading for trouble.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
