Here's a fun start to the thread....

God, I'm done with the drama. I half hope we just move on at this point.

Browns to start Josh McCown over Johnny Manziel at quarterback

Johnny Manziel has been replaced by Josh McCown as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Tuesday.

Less than two weeks after being named the team's starter, Manziel has been demoted to third string for Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens after social media posts surfaced this week that showed Manziel allegedly partying last weekend in Texas during the team's bye week.

"Everyone in this organization wants what is best for Johnny just like we do for every player in our locker room. I'm especially disappointed in his actions and behavior because he has been working very hard," head coach Mike Pettine said in a statement.

"The improvements from last year to this year have been tremendous but he still has to consistently demonstrate that he has gained a good understanding of what it takes to be successful at the quarterback position on this level. It goes well beyond the field. We are going to continue to support him in every way possible, but at this point, we've decided it's best to go with Josh as the starter going forward."

Pettine had said earlier Tuesday that he was "not in position yet" to say whether Manziel would start Monday night and that the team was gathering information on the incident.

"It's a little easier to handle when it's just a one-time occurrence, but when behavior repeats, not just him but with anybody, it's certainly a cause for concern," Pettine said.

He added: "You have a vision of what you want the team to look like, how you want them to handle themselves when they're out of the building. We talk a lot about it ... so when things like this happen -- and not just him, but just in general -- any team when you have incidents like that [where] a guy knows that he represents more than himself and has issues off the field, it is frustrating."

McCown (ribs) has been cleared to play, Pettine said earlier Tuesday, and is "good to go" for Monday night's game.

"He's a prisoner of his success," Browns linebacker Karlos Dansby said of Manziel, who did not speak to reporters Tuesday.

Manziel had been named the Browns' starter after he threw for 372 yards in the 30-9 loss to the Steelers on Nov. 15. When he was named the starter, Pettine talked to him about properly representing the team. Manziel promised before the bye week that he was "not going to do anything that's going to be a distraction to this team or be an embarrassment to the organization."

Last month, Manziel made headlines after witnesses reported him driving dangerously on an interstate highway and his girlfriend said he had gotten physical with her in the car. Manziel was questioned by police, who smelled alcohol on Manziel's breath but did not give him a field sobriety test because he showed no signs of inebriation. Just last week, the NFL announced Manziel would not face discipline for the incident.

Manziel spent 10 weeks in a treatment facility during the offseason for undisclosed reasons.

I was looking forward to Manziel starting, he just couldn't stay out of his own way.

I will still watch because I am sick.

Just cut him, if you're going to bench the kid, demote him to third string - just cut him. What are you waiting or holding out for?

What a joke.

What exactly did he do that deserves benching?

If you are asking this question, then you haven't been following the situation closely.

The team clearly wanted Manziel to stay out of the public eye. He said he would. He didn't.

Maybe Manziel knows what a train wreck this team is and is trying his best to get as far away as possible. I would!

He just can't seem to appreciate the lifetime of opportunity that is before him.

Pettine must be very fickle.

I could not be a grown man and play for this team under those circumstances.

I wouldn't want to play for this team. Dysfunctional at its finest.

Cut him, and let him ball somewhere else. Lets us continue to add QB's who will fail.

Maybe the team should of asked the media to stay out of his pants..

He's young , has a life ahead of him. I don't think sitting in a dark cave hidden under the ground is actually a fun way to spend the bye week away from the disaster in No Energy Stadium..

He hurt no-one ... just had fun... he was back in town a day early...

Nothing can be said to me, that will make this decision a right one..

You would also probably be able to control yourself when asked to not get drunk in public.

The media loves it when you tell them what to do.

The problem isn't that he's having fun, it's that he's partying in public when the team clearly doesn't want him to. Why can't he just invite a bunch of people to his house so that he can control the environment?

Manziel did this to himself. Even if the team's requests were unreasonable, he should have followed them. His career was on the line.

Cool, because i have something I want the media to do.. I can't say it here though..

One other thing.. the media says he was slamming a bottle of Champagne...

I didn't see it to his lips.. but he was slamming it against his body..

I stopped the video at 18 secs.. the Kid in the red shirt.. His bottle was still corked...

Because when people go to clubs and spend thousands of dollars on alcohol, they don't drink it. They just hold it.

I think what pissed Pettine off the most, is that Johnny invited and wanted the celebrity attention. He wasn't seen from afar drinking at a bar. He was right smack in front of the camera acting like an idiot. After saying what Johnny said after being named the starter, he clearly didn't mean a word of it.

Tired of it. trade bait or cut. The Berea DayCare has to play some football soon. Just too much distraction and dysfunction for no good reason.

Exactly!! I'm just done with it. If he can't be trusted to stay outta the spotlight with his partying, how is he to be trusted with the most important position in the nfl?

Said it before, it's clear what JFs priorities are, and it's not being a nfl Qb.

Oh..come on.. Pettine does nothing but praise what Johnny is doing INSIDE the building.. Inside is what proves Johnny wants to succeed..

I tend to look at trends. The trends in Manziel's life right now appear to be heading him back into trouble. He's back with the ex-girlfriend he had trouble with as far as alcohol ..... and he has been out drinking, at least once to excess, despite being in rehab not that long ago. His High School coach, who stayed with Manziel when he got out of rehab, said that he was concerned, and that has really stuck with me. He probably knows Manziel as well as anyone, and if he sees trouble on the horizon .,... well ... I'd pay attention to his forecast.

What a player does outside the building doesn't necessarily mean he will fail or succeed inside the building..

Just because Johnny parties doesn't mean he will fail as a QB

Just as a player who doesn't party will succeed as a QB..

Tim Tebow as an example..

Time to fire everyone, hire a new GM and HC and hopefully draft a QB next April. Johnny is like Meathead. Not worth the trouble.

Last year it did. He was too stoned/drunk/hung over/apathetic to learn the playbook and improve himself. Why do you think he'll be any different now? Becaus he said so?

IMO, Pettine is an ass for this move. People were wanting to see the kid play, he is working hard and improving. To me this is a stupid move. If you don't want the kid, cut him.

He was not arrested, was in no trouble, and was back at the facility a day early. I want the media to start following other players around, I bet you would see a lot of the same.

Look, I'm no Johnny pimp, but the scrutiny this kid is under is bull, IMO.

No, Mostly from all the positive things that Pet has been saying of his effort inside the building.

IMO.. letting him play would prove what Johnny is or could be.
