http://espn.go.com/blog/cleveland-browns...-field-goal-tryNFL: Ravens were not offside on Browns' final field goal attempt The Baltimore Ravens were not offside on the Cleveland Browns final field goal try Monday night. A photo circulating on the internet appeared to show Ravens safety Anthony Levine lining up with his hand across a line drawn to show the line of scrimmage. However, NFL Director of Officiating Dean Blandino posted on Twitter that the line drawn on the photo was inaccurate because the line was not on the correct yard-line. Dean Blandino ✔ @DeanBlandino On FG block last night the ball was spotted on the 33 1/2-yard line. Video/pics going around have line drawn through 33. The photo had caused a bit of a stir. The NFL said the play was legal and the Ravens did not commit a penalty. Browns coach Mike Pettine said nothing on the coach's tape indicated the Ravens were offside. Baltimore blocked Travis Coons' kick and returned it for the game-winning touchdown on the last play of the game. As for other photos that seemed to show Will Hill stepping out of bounds, NFL spokesman Michael Signora said simply that "Hill did not step out of bounds." By rule, all scoring plays are reviewed in the booth. If a question is found, the game is stopped and the on-field referee announces he will look at the play to be sure about the call. If the call is correct, the game is not stopped. In this case, there was no need for further review because booth review showed Hill did not step out of bounds. "The touchdown was confirmed and as a result, there was no need to stop the game," Signora wrote in an e-mail.

LOL. Look at the distance between the white line under the Browns players and the black line on both sides of the Browns. The black line gets further away when it should run parallel!

look at that pic and look at the way the black line is getting further away from the white line from bottom to top. It's not even a good fake. I also went back and looked at the touchdown run from the block, he never stepped out of bounds. *edit* What OldCold said.

You can tell by the pic that the drawn in line, by whomever doctored the photo, isn't parallel to the field line. It's very very difficult to get the right aspect from a photograph. What does it matter anyway? That play was a godsend. We didn't have to watch any more of that pathetic excuse for a football game. Did anyone really want to see overtime? Two really REALLY bad teams playing what amounted to a preseason game on national TV. Is there anything more embarrassing? I think it's fitting that Pettine and company are finding new and inventive ways to lose. They sure as hell aren't capable of finding inventive ways to win. Or even look like a professional team.

Looked to me like he jumped far enough to get flagged anyway.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

I don't understand why one of the guys on the end doesn't false start as soon as the guy jumped over.
I'm pretty sure there was a block in the back on the play. As far as it being out of bounds, it's pretty hilarious how quick the review was and how ESPN didn't even really focus on the possibility of it being OB. Just nah, get the hell out of here.
I mean whatever, I'm not mad. We deserved to lose even if the guy was out of bounds. I don't care anymore. This season was lost a long time ago, probably sometime in training camp, and a win last night would have done nothing for us.
We just need to bottom out.

I think the mismanagement of the clock by the Browns had a lot more to do w/the loss than the officiating.

j/c...
look at the two hash marks, forget the black line although its on a slant by the ball under the hash and by the hand a couple inch or so over the hash so the black line is off. The ball is placed at an inch or two under the Hash...the hand is around 6 inches under the hash mark by the player. Clearly off sides. NFL had an out by saying oh look that black line is not straight he is not offsides.
What is worse is the false claim they reviewed that upstairs and so no reason to go into further review. Liars, he clearly stepped out and that still picture was at a same angle on film which was a lot clearer and the foot was definitely out of bounds. But as soon as the TD was made those idiots started packing their bags to get out of there.
They are liars and cheats, and have a set of rules for certain teams and then different for others.
Browns...we forced the NFL to give us a team back. We threw bottles at the refs for reviewing a play AFTER we ran a play. We withdrew Manziel as a starter which would have had their ratings go sky high for a game with 2-8 and 3-7 teams.
Screw the Browns. And for them saying things like he did not step out of bounds in this day and age of camera angles and different looks.
The original tape of looking at him run with his back to the camera, I didn't even thing he stepped out of bounds. Then they showed a different angle from the Endzone while the Ravens were putting out their extra point people and it was clear as day! Announcers didn't say a peep which I think these NFL booth guys put a lot of credence to. Oh the announcers say we should look at it...maybe we should!
Oh and McCowns broken collar bone just for the record, the Defender led with his HELMET right into the chest, not at the same time...like a projectile breaking his collar bone. Might be the play that broke it or not. But I remember the Helmet lead square in that area one guy was low and he came in full HELMET TORPEDO. One set of rules for the NFL and one set for the Browns.

I don't believe the NFL intentionally tried to screw the Browns. Of course, they're not. They don't have to....we do it to ourselves.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

When I read what the NFL had to say about the offsides and the returner stepping out of bounds, I thought sarcastically, "Yeah, and that kick wasn't wide right in '87".

Just a coincidence...right This year alone and not looking at the phantom HOLD Calls with a late flag after a big run or pass. And other things.
But the apology from the NFL on calling Trent Offsides on yep, a FG attempt that was missed and then on the 2nd chance was good for us to lose. And now this oh wow...Now this OFFSIDES call. Gee funny how that works. True its just a coincidence.
On how our QBs don't get the same protection as others. Sorry when a Defender leads with head head right into the chest Squarely and there is no call - Bogus.
Sorry how many times do we take on ILLEGAL HITS that do not get flagged and then the NFL ends up FINING said Player for an illegal hit.
And then how many Illegal hits do we get called for and the player doesn't get fined cause he never led with the helmet but shoulder instead.
All just a coincidence I agree.
I know the logical thing is to say NO way... and yet year after year - just this year alone the last play of the game was effected by incorrect calls or NO CALLS by the refs for two games? That btw would double our wins. Unless the conspiracy is to do good by us so we can get the #1 pick instead of like #7 or something. Thanks Zebras...good job!

I know Dee is involved with numerous NFL committees, but she does not have that much reach to get to the refs. She does not seem to be that type of person either.

You are too manly to whine like that. Stop it! I cannot agree more. While I do not hide my views on JH's ownership skills, I find the premise an insult to his wife who sits on NFL committees. Many irrational fans set up straw-man arguments and assumptions that they knock down while pounding their chests. Among the "you're not a fan" accusations to those who criticize, also included is "the refs are against us" assertion.

lol...I get more pissed off than conspiracy I think refs in general have been pretty bad and I do think there is maybe some residual from the bottle throwing affair. Still all those things did occur and there is some sort of Standards that are applied to certain teams. Sorry but Steelers just get away with so so much and I know I'm bias cause of the Division but there have been a lot of from around the league and from the Bozo's
Do I think all those things happened...no not think but I know all mentioned did happen. Do I think there is a conspiracy against us. No, but I do think the refs Have a certain respect to certain teams and let some things go.
Lame...let me have my fun. I don't grade your posts you rant I never once called you lame. Tell me you disagree fine - Lame ehhh sure all rants are lame then - so half your posts are lame?

tab, have you missed the posts where I said I was wrong about McCown and tab was right? I posted it at least three times.
tab, the NFL is NOT picking on us. Come on, man! We stink. They don't need to pick on us.
The Steelers got hosed in their most recent game against the Seahawks. I hate the Steelers, but that was embarrassing.
The Pats and 49ers were also hosed in their games.
It happens.

I'm glad we lost to be honest but that guy was so obviously offsides for the simple fact that his hand was on the same line as the ball. You can easily look at the distance his hand is from the yard line and compare that to where the football is from that same yardline. If he was lined up across from the center his hand would be on the ball. It is so blatant it's obvious.

Let me further say I don't think the refs during a game intentionally mess things up. What annoys me is that they make such an obvious lie to cover it up long after the game is over instead of admitting their mistake.

Pic: I've looked and looked on my DVR'd recording of this game and I cannot find this view anywhere. The only time ABC went to this angle was in reply after the kick and that only showed the play after a graphic transition into the play in progress. Maybe this was from a different kick attempt. And what is that line running from top left, through Dray's right leg and to the bottom farther left? It also seems to have a lighter area around it than the surrounding grass color.

Are most of my posts lame? I don't think so. You may think so and that is your right. How can you possibly turn this around on me calling your posts lame??? I said let me rant just cause I rant you call it lame not me calling your post lame...YOU CALL MINE LAME. I said if all your rants and you do have rants which btw my rant has correct facts in it. So could yours. But if I rant n you don't agree then it must be lame??? What I said is be fair then. If you rant then your post must be lame...by the standard you put forth by calling my post lame.
How dare you call me a girl (apologies to the girls) man the liberties you take to insult people...do you even know you do that. Now you take it that I'm calling your posts lame...when all I did was say if my post/rant is lame then all your rants must be lame also. Its up to you to reclassify it. But you in turn get mad and point your finger at me???
McCown...yeah thanks I also throw you a bone here and there too. Its what friends do when talking football. btw I'm right about a lot of things...lol

As someone else already pointed out, this was definitely photoshopped. The more distant players are larger than the ones nearer, and the black line is not parallel to the yard line. No camera angle can create those effects.

I don't believe the NFL intentionally tried to screw the Browns. I do think the refs wanted to go home early, though. Logically, the best chance for them to go home early would have been to call the offside immediately, move us up, and give us a better chance to make the FG.. no way they could have predicted the kick-6 happening.

I think it is a photoshop as well. The two players (Browns) off the line, as well as the black LOS seem to conflict.

I tell you, it's a conspiracy. Glad you finally agree...
Anyways why would anyone photo shop several players...its one player in question...as I said forget the black line look at the two hash marks and the ball being snapped. If that right hand is not some photochop or whatever...he is offsides.
Unlike TWilliams who was not offsides called offsides.
Still the foot was out clear as day saw it during the game replay and rewound and watched that again during the game play... We either had a closer FG or overtime one or the other but instead were jobbed cause they REFUSED to look at that play closely to see if he stepped out of bounds...who refuses that? That is so bizarre especially a game winning TD. They are suppose to review all TDs let alone game winners and they literally refused to cause they said there was no need. When he did clearly, not that fuzzy shot clearly stepped out of bounds. Go rewatch the game tape they had a great replay as they were setting up the extra point. Odd the announcers didn't even say...Is it possibly he stepped out...there was just silence.
I agree no conspiracy...facts are facts we just got jobbed without a conspiracy...
