I don't think Andy/JR are safe from being moved necessarily. But by April, Mo and Delly are going to be worthless they are going to be worn down so much. I don't think the money matters, I think the trade might even be a one year rental type deal. I really think if it don't happen this year its not going to. After giving TT that contract, Gilbert has proven he values the potential ring over money. So I still don't think we eat it..but then again, it takes 2 to tango and we might not find any takers. To revisit this conversation ... I'm not sure that Gilbert spending the money is the issue, it's that we don't really have anything worth trading at the moment. Nobody is going to want Andy or JR. Andy is an injury risk on a 3yr/$10 mil contract and the Knicks practically gifted Shump to us to take JR off their hands. Plus nobody wanted to give him a contract when he was a Free Agent just a few months ago. I think the only "trade-able" guys are Mosgov and Delly, but trading either one would put huge holes in our current team makeup. Unless we find a team desperate to shed salary and want nothing in return but cap space, it's going to be hard to get a trade going. Andy is a 10 million expiring this year..thats a pretty big piece. But I was more referring to us using the exception straight up, replacing a cunningham or harris, Thats kinda why I want to see this team fully healthy for a month or so before deadline. I think where we have gaps now might not be so evident come february. I know we need a rim protector, but that becomes less important with better perimeter defense.

Isn't Varejao signed through 16/17 with a team option in 17/18? http://hoopshype.com/salaries/cleveland_cavaliers/The Cavs team right now is likely their team for the future. Their only hope is that they are healthy going into the playoffs.

i totally missed he signed an extension in 2014
Cleveland signed its starting center to a contract extension on Friday. A league source told ESPN's Brian Windhorst the deal is worth $9.6 million next season, $10.3 million ($9.3 million guaranteed) in 2016-17 and $10 million (nonguaranteed) in 2017-18.
man that was a bad business deal.

Big win for us yesterday. The game was close and intense.
Feel bad for that girl that got Titanic'ed by the 230+ lber in LBJ. Said on 92.3 she was released this morning, not sure the extent of her injuries though. Hopefully she's okay being held at the hospital overnight as well as being carried out in a stretcher.

Just a few general comments on the game, of which I caught most of last night:
--Delly is a really improved player. He's still not very good, but he has really improved. Will be a great complimentary piece when everyone is healthy.
--The Cavs have a crappy offense. It has no rhyme or reason to it. There's no chemistry. It's a bit of a free for all. The Cavs "out talented" OKC last night.
--Related to my previous point, Love is too good a player to not be more involved in the team offense.
--What happened to at least some hustle D? They weren't even trying to run out to shooters all game, even at the very end when the game was still hanging in the balance. Defense is 90% effort and attitude. The defensive effort is disappointing.
--I'd like to see more on court leadership out of LeBron. He pouts too much when things don't go his way.
--Having said all that, I just can't see any scenario short of LeBron getting hurt where the Cavs do not represent the East in the Finals. But their lack of offensive chemistry I think will get them beat by GS or SA. They won't be able to "out talent" them.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I will say this Rish ... To borrow a phrase from Bill Simmons, the Cavs feel a little like a porn star in a "best equipped" contest. They pull out just enough to win.
Last year, they did the same thing. Mailed it in for half the year, then pulled out all the stops by spring. The offense looked much more fluid then until all the injuries hit.
From a Big Picture standpoint, this actually makes a lot of sense (If this is actually what they are doing). Playing at 100% all the time for an entire season is going to grind you down. Playing your best offensive sets all the time is going to give other teams plenty of game-tape and time for them to figure out how to best defend you. I just get the feeling the Cavs want to take it as easy as they can until around the All-Star break. Then they can step on the gas a little and gear up for the season that really matters. We're still first place in the East so it's not like it's hurting us in the long run so far.

I agree w/a lot of your post.
I know this isn't going to go over well, but man, I hate how LBJ plays the game at times.
He throws this errant pass to Delly and then gets mad and starts berating Delly like it was his fault. I'm tired of him calling out others when he makes a mistake or is dogging it. And his game is lame. Pounding nails, jacking up contested 3s as the shot clock winds down. Get your big ass in the paint and dominate like you can and stop bleeding the shot clock and throwing up prayers from deep. God, I hate that. It makes everyone else stand around.

I agree with this...Lebron is a horrible shooter, he's not even streaky, he's just not that good. Driving, posting up..thats where he excels. I cuss at lebron more than anyone on the team, and cheer..he's so frustrating at times and others you sit back and go wow, i'm not sure who else in the league could have done that. Hopefully once kyrie comes back that will lessen since he won't need to think he has to shoot with kyrie being the best shooter on the team out there.

So Golden State struggles with Milwaukees length. How are they gonna handle the Spurs monsters?
Duncan is 7'0
Aldridge is 6'11
Kawhi is 6'7
Green is 6'6
The Spurs are Milwaukee on steroids if we're being honest here.

Yeah, he is scary when he is slashing to the basket. He is a beast when posting up. He dominates the game when doing both of those things.
I understand it's much easier to pound nails and then hoist a late shot-clock 3, but man, he's not that good at it and it kills our offensive flow.

I'm not astute to the intricacies of the game..but what you said I agree with and also..it could just be me but damn does he turn the ball over a lot and find myself yelling at the tv to quit whining to the refs get your ass back and defend. Idk the wife and I watch it know the rules ect but am ignorant to the ins and outs of the game. My wife is from Akron my sons was born there and I like rooting for the hometown kid...but sometimes has me scratching my head on things he does.

You say that as if you have higher expectations for him... He's a good player. He's not an all-star or anything like that, and never will be. But for what he is, and what his role is, especially for the Cavs, he's very good. Delly has one gear. He knows that when it comes to playoff time, he has to be a defensive pain for the other team. He's not breaking down defenders and creating his own shot. That kind of role cannot be maintained as a starter. Delly did it for a few games in the finals against the Warriors. That's pretty damn impressive. He ran out of gas, and the Cavs lost, but he's very very good when you don't have to run him out as a starter.. And make no mistake, when playoff time comes, that it will probably be him spelling Irving off the bench instead of Mo Williams. Pretty cool to read about Delly's efficiency numbers being really good so far this year. I feel pretty good about our backcourt with Irving-Delly and Mo Williams playing in spots, also ready to step in if needed.

Did I read it correctly that we are playing Golden State on Christmas. (Nationally televised)?
If so, I am really excited for that. Also excited for Kyrie to be back.
Go Cavs!

Go Cavs! Yup, it's the big matchup on the slate of games that day. The NBA is really really smart with that kinda stuff. Meanwhile, the NFL continues to roll out the Cowboys and Lions every Thanksgiving....
