Exactly. Wow! He could skip the GM and save some dollars. He most definitely wants "yes" people.

Could it be that he is putting his team of people who will communicate and collaborate well? That is why the coach will be part of the GM search...His wife and lawyer "SHOULD" tell him the truth and he should trust them...It seemed like all season everyone was on a different page...not saying this will work but if everyone is on the same page and gets along enough to be open and honest, maybe we can move forward in a positive way...

Yep..

This Sashi Brown thing feels like a knee jerk /emotional promotion. I don't get this new structure one bit.

The guy with the final say lacks any knowledge of talent evaluation. Just not sure if the guy with the final say is Jimmy or Sashi. All of this sits as a HUGE problem. How can none of you realize this?!

I can't blame him for this comment (I can blame him for a lot more). The new coach should be able to retain the coaches he wants.

Teams usually terminate the contracts of some coaches but keep the contracts of some coaches active awaiting the new head coach and his wants.

I dont like it either...but I think Jimmy read my post on what to do and if I was owner what I would do to fix it...minus the Sashi thing...

I fear the same thing. I also like to take a wait and see approach on most things in life. I am very analytically inclined and think that can be a valuable approach to looking at things.

I get the same feeling.

This is a mess.

Either way it's a mess. Sashi Brown isn't a GM. He doesn't know how to scout players. Haslam just made Sashi Brown the new Banner. A bean counter with complete roster control. Now he will hire a yes man to take the fall as "GM" if things go wrong and Brown will be the one drafting and signing FA's for the future.

It's not his job to scout players. It will be the GM and the scouting department job to do that. Unless I heard differently.

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

He does not scout. But he does have final say over the 53.

Who will coach here now? It's painfully obvious you'll be dictated to.

That has to be the most uncomfortable I've seen Haslam in front of a room of reporters. The fact that someone questioned him on doing things backwards seemed to really get under his skin.

I did find it interesting that he claimed he had a steep learning curve as an owner but is obviously unwilling to give that same learning curve to any new coach. Setting quite an example.

Now I know why they raised ticket prices. It's because we all got front row seats to a circus to go along with crappy football.

That may all depend upon the relationship between Haslam and the consulting firm. Others in the loop will probably be on the same page.

My concern is what coach will come here with all this crap.

The GM will simply be a scapegoat if this all fails.

I do think some of us see this as a big issue.

If the Super Bowl is the benchmark of success, then EVERY regime / coaching staff / etc in my lifetime has failed with this team. There is no "textbook" approach that will work every time...Right now there is equal "It may work" "it may not work"...

if getting to the playoff or just .500, then only 12 season in my lifetime have seen .500 or better season...out of 45!

I get the frustration and doomsday...If Haslam (which spell checks tries to make Hallam smile ) fails...we will do it again..and again...and again...

The season is over...we will have new FO spots / new coaches...for the next 7 months I will be hopeful and exited for the next season...just like I have since I can remember...

Go Browns and here is to a bright 2016!

Same I feel. How do we attract anyone with a football IQ? We will be scraping the bottom of the barrel in both coach and "talent" guy.

What if the "talent" guy sees things different than the coach that he doesn't hire?

More of the same. Sitting here shaking my head, I can't make heads or tails of the situation.

If you are the one in charge, and have final say on ALL roster decisions, you BETTER know how to watch tape and scout a player. You better know if a player is worth drafting or signing.

While there may be no set rule to success, having the guy that is doing the drafting actually know how to draft might seem prudent. Hiring a guy to draft and sign FA's that has no clue how to do that seems a bit reckless ne?

Search firm looking into coaches goes along with all the rumors for the last 2 months the browns have been looking for info on many coaches in the college ranks, we can poke around there without any tampering charges. The Saban, Bryan Harsin stuff makes a bit more sense now. This isnt something that just happend they have been working on this stuff for awhile so things will go quick with interviews this week.

you arent gonna get one of the top coaches without giving them control over the 53 so forget about Pagano or Sean Payton.

Sure. Lets go hire a golf instructor to be our new head coach. Not like any experience is needed.
