Rams mostly played at Anaheim stadium.

Also, the Coliseum holds 95,000 people. Hard to fill it. Even USC didn't sell out during the Carroll years.

From the outside looking in, LA sure looks like an awful NFL city.

The Rams couldn't break 60,000 in attendance for their last 12 seasons in LA, and failed to reach 50,000 in their final 3 years in LA. The Raiders, despite winning a Super Bowl in LA, were outcasts in LA. (and I think that the Raiders image is a tough sell in LA)

The Dodgers, Lakers, and USC seem to draw well, but how long ago was it that the NFL drew well in LA?

It will at first.

Because it'll be the cool new thing to do on Sunday afternoon..

I don't understand two teams though.

I say the Rams owner is funding his own stadium, let him move. Use the relocation fee to help SD and Oakland fund new stadiums there, or at least one of them, and then find another place to move to if you want (no, not London)

I honestly think they're allowing two teams to move to have to separate places to threaten cities with moving other teams to to get new stadiums..

I think you need to consider the stadium those teams were playing in....not fan friendly at all. In some sections you might have been sitting a half mile from the field of play.

It's a crime.

The worst thing about this is that the teams that are looking to relo there are well supported in their current location.

The team that can't get attendance is the Jags... Not a word about them moving and they really should.

Evidence?

Goodell is on record as far back as last year stating that there will be at least one, and preferably two teams in L.A. by 2016.

I wouldn't be shocked to see three teams in LA by tomorrow afternoon.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that there will be at least two for next season.

A new article:

Raiders, Chargers owners confident in Carson but Inglewood gains steam
By Jared Dubin | Staff Writer
January 11, 2016 9:49 pm CT

Ahead of this week's NFL owner's meetings in Houston, the league's relocation committee (featuring Clark Hunt, Robert Kraft, John Mara, Bob McNair, Jerry Richardson and Art Rooney) met Monday night.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported that the committee is expected to make a recommendation on one of three proposals by the morning before the full meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. La Canfora additionally reported that a proposal from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, which would see the Chargers and Rams move to Inglewood, is gaining steam.

@JasonLaCanfora
LA relocation committee meeting with Roger Goodell ongoing. Expectation is they recommend one of 3 proposals by the AM before full meeting..

@JasonLaCanfora
The Jerry Jones proposal for Rams/chargers in Inglewood seems to be gaining steam

If that sounds like it's a bit different than the plans that have been proposed by the teams themselves, don't worry. It should. The Raiders and Chargers put forth a joint proposal to move to Carson, California, while the Rams put up a solo proposal for a stadium in Inglewood that would feature their team, with another team joining them.

For whatever it's worth Chargers owner Dean Spanos and Raiders owner Mark Davis have said that they are fully committed to the Carson plan.

@MartyCaswell
Dean Spanos was swarmed by reporters when he emerged from his dinner "My Focus is still Carson."

@nwagoner
Raiders/Chargers dinner just finished. Mark Davis declined comment but when asked if he was still confident in Carson he said "Absolutely."

It remains to be seen which team (or how many teams) will wind up moving to the Los Angeles area for the 2016 season. As our Jason La Canfora reported last week, it's possible that two teams could be there, or that one team could go for 2016 and another could join them the following season.

The rationale is simple: $550M relocation fee split amongst the other owners. You're paying ME to move YOUR franchise? Hell yeah, I'll vote for that! LOL

SD and St. Louis will move. The NFL will let Davis slide in Oakland. Owners split $1.1B in relocation fees. Greedy? Nah. Not the NFL. LMAO

And they'll just move another team to St. Louis later to collect ANOTHER relocation fee or expansion payment. Why not?

AND he doesn't want to be in St. Louis with or without a new stadium. He wants to move the Rams back to LA, where they belong (well, they might also "belong" in Cleveland, but that's a bit further back).

If the Raiders are the odd man out, just move to St. Louis, San Diego, Toronto, Las Vegas, or San Antonio after next season. Davis would get to pick from the best stadium deal. Easy.

The Raiders will stay in Oakland. They need to use those other cities to extort the current NFL cities for new stadium deals now that LA is off the table.

Looks like it's going to be Rams/Chargers in Carson. Rams will in LA in 2016, we don't know about the Chargers yet. The only stadium that has been secured is the Coliseum and both teams can't play there. The Rose Bowl pulled out of consideration a few months back. It would be hilarious if they tried to play at Dodger or Angel stadium.

Los Angeles Rams are back. That's a weird thing to type. The Chargers have the option to move with them if they want. Oakland and/or San Diego get $100 million towards a stadium if they stay.

Raiders can try to move next offseason if Chargers cant figure out a deal by January..

100 Million towards a new stadium is a joke..

The Browns cement cookie cutter stadium cost double that in 1999. Which in 2016 is like 4 times as much..

The St. Louis Rams are headed to Inglewood, California, the result of a vote made by the NFL's owners on Tuesday, sources told ESPN.

The San Diego Chargers may also join the Rams, but have until Jan. 16, 2017 to agree to lease terms with the Rams, according to sources. If the Chargers decline, the Oakland Raiders, another former L.A. tenant, can link up with the Rams, sources said.

Ten moments to remember from the Rams time in St. Louis

A Chargers-Raiders partnership that would have put those two teams in a stadium in Carson, California, was the other proposal under consideration.

The vote was passed by a 30-2 margin, but only needed the approval of 24 of the league's 32 owners.

Former Rams running back Eric Dickerson took to Twitter to celebrate the franchise's return to Los Angeles.

Earlier in the day, the NFL's six-owner committee on Los Angeles opportunities earlier recommended the Chargers-Raiders project, which would build a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, sources told ESPN, confirming multiple reports. However, the push did not lead to the proposal surpassing the Rams' relocation bid.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke had proposed to build a $1.86 billion stadium in Inglewood. Earlier Tuesday, a Rams-only proposal was denied by the owners, according to the Los Angeles Daily News, which led to the joint venture of the Rams and Chargers.

The Rams presented their project on Inglewood first, followed by the Chargers and Raiders -- which included Disney CEO Bob Iger, who is a consultant to the group. The NFL made the final presentation.

Disney is the parent company of ESPN.

Though all 32 teams are represented, Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk was the only owner not at the NFL owners meetings in Houston.

The Titans said Adams did not attend the meetings because the organization remains focused on hiring a general manager and head coach. Team president and CEO Steve Underwood is representing the team at the meetings.

Coincidentally, the Titans are last NFL team to relocate, moving from Houston to Tennessee prior to the 1997 season.

Information from ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, Adam Schefter, Eric D. Williams and Paul Kuharsky contributed to this report.

I don't understand why they're moving in the first place. Old stadiums or something like that? I don't know how I feel about the Rams going back to LA. Don't feel as bad as I would for a city that was losing a team that was founded there but if the fans in St. Louis were supporting the team then there is no reason to move the them.

If the Raiders and Chargers fans are supporting them I don't think they should be allowed to move, sorry. There really should be some kind of protection for the fans that have invested so much in their teams against losing them.

IMO, most of the blame for past failures in LA don't fall at the fans feet. How can you fault them when the owners before the moves were Georgia Frontiere and Al Davis? Think about that for a second.

Here's some info on Georgia's actions near the move:

...One bright spot for the offense during this time was running back Jerome Bettis, although he was later traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers (after he became expendable when the team drafted highly touted running back Lawrence Phillips; this ultimately became one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history, strongly favoring the Steelers).

Team management traded quarterback Jim Everett, and released All-Pro linebacker Kevin Greene, which only widened the chasm between success and the Rams organization. The losing seasons increased. At this point, Georgia Frontiere blamed the poor front office decisions on their stadium situation. Neither Orange County nor the city of Los Angeles were prepared to build a taxpayer-financed stadium just for the Rams; after all, there were at least three perfectly suitable stadiums already in the Greater L.A. area.

Georgia Frontiere attempted to relocate the Rams to Baltimore, Maryland, but that deal was eventually stopped. Mrs. Frontiere then sought to re-locate the team to the city of her birth, St. Louis. NFL owners (of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Giants, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, and the Minnesota Vikings, specifically) voted to oppose the move, arguing that Frontiere (who was claiming that, without the extra revenues from a new stadium, the L.A. market was so unprofitable that it risked bankrupting the Rams) had badly mismanaged the team. Nevertheless, she threatened to sue the NFL itself; ultimately, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue acquiesced to Frontiere's demands.

That sounds like something out of the movie Major League. The LA fans were fine, the Rams owner was terrible.

Well I guess if St. Louis wasn't there for the team then I don't know what to say. It's kinda weird that they left the city they're going to but I guess that's kind of a happy ending for the LA fans.
But I think the Raiders and the Chargers should stay where they are.

If they are a good team, people will go.

Also they will have the benefit of visiting team fans wanting to go there as well.

Not everyone in LA will be a Rams fan, so displaced fans will get to see their team in person when they play there..

If they still suck in three years, attendance may go down..

But we suck, and our stadium gets filled with Steelers and Other teams fans in December every year.

Art was a bad money manager right?
Junior wasn't losing money but he couldn't find good FO people. (not like this is a secret)
I don't think the team will lose money under Jimmy and it looks like he's taking a more aggressive approach to finding the right people and 'tools' to get good coaches and talent.

We'll see.

Yeah, I'm not good at picking up on what people are getting at without being able to hear the inflection in their voices coming through the text on the screen, but I agree.
I find it funny when I hear people talk about other fan bases that are 'the most loyal' in (insert league, sport here).

We are. No question.
