I thought the article said he went 15 and 17?
I don't know..........I ain't buying into him or any of the guys we have interviewed.
They are all wannabes.
We had a wannabe in Pet. If we kept him, we would not have to overhaul the roster like we will for the next great white hope.

I can't argue with what Marrone did with his time as HC, but I'm not sure how his style would fit with some of the guys that have put up with our Front office ineptitude for the last decade.

I think the roster getting blown up is a foregone conclusion at this point.
Maybe not utterly trashed, but it's going to get a MAJOR overhaul.

Maybe not utterly trashed, but it's going to get a MAJOR overhaul. And, since you can't over haul a roster in 2 years, with new systems, schemes, etc, getting the players you want/need - it means we're a minimum of 3 years, possibly 5 years til we're good. Ain't nobody got time for that! What we SHOULD be discussing is not who our next coach will be, but who the coach after our next coach should be.

well, it would definitely be a good time to get started on that, for sure.
It will be 2-3 before we could even remotely be ready to push for the playoffs, but we could be competitive next season if we get this offseason right. Having an easy schedule again will make it appear better than it will be, too (like 2014 was).

I see that we are interviewing Jerome Henderson today. He is the secondary coach with the Cowboys, and coached here under Mangini and Shurmur.
I think that he is a really interesting candidate, and very well could wind up being our guy. I like a lot of what I have heard about him. I don't get this one. It's not like the Cowboys were doing well at DB. He's a Rob Ryan guy. We already got rid of him once. His contract is expiring and the Cowboys don't plan on resigning him. What were the good things that you heard? He is a very bright coach, who gets the best out of his players. He relates well to his players, and gets them to buy in. The Cowboys were actually good against the pass this year. They were 5th against the pass, and allowed only 19 TD passes. (3rd fewest in the NFL, we allowed 34, by comparison) When Henderson was here, Haden looked like a guy who was heading towards being one of the better CBs in the NFL. Dallas had an anemic pass rush, with only 31 sacks. (we had 29, for comparison) He did a great job there. He was also missing Orlando Scandrick for the entire season. He is supposed to be a really bright defensive mind, and does get the best out of his players. I think that he will be a head coach in the NFL.

Did not have the time to read the entire thread. Sorry if I'm repeating things. This guy strikes me as the kind of guy that might fit. Matt Patricia Young guy like I felt we'd need to attract. Aeronautical Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnical Inst. Gave up an engineering career to build a coaching resume. Been with the Pats since about 2004. Current DC of the Pats Well educated in the sciences A Math geek of sorts by virtue of his education https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_PatriciaNote, the Browns have been given permission to interview him.

What does he do well as a coach? How are his communication skills? Does he relate to his players well? Is he a guy who would be able to delegate? I really know nothing about the guy except that he is the Pats DC. I do worry that some super smart people put into leadership positions become overcome by paralysis by analysis. Do you feel that he would be able to overcome that possibility? Sometimes the super smart guy becomes the guy who wants to try and do everything himself, to justify his raw intelligence, and is actually less effective than the "not as intelligent" guy, who understands how to handle the top job, how to delegate and give others authority, and so on. Do you know how he handles things with the defensive staff? I really know nothing about the guy other than some people have brought him up as their favorite.

If we kept him, we would not have to overhaul the roster like we will for the next great white hope. I do find this a little confusing. It seems like since even before the pre season, you were stating this team was almost devoid of all talent. That until we acquired talent we wouldn't win. And I certainly agree with you. So, since we have almost no talent, how would a drastic change in the roster be a negative thing? I'm not really crazy about most of the candidates on the list, but I believe that any time you have a change in both the HC and GM you will certainly have a big roster turnover. I'm just not so sure in our situation that would be such a bad thing. It certainly will concern who and what will be changed. But for the most part I don't see how it could be a huge downgrade.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I was wondering if someone would bring that up.
I do believe we have one of the worst overall rosters in the league. However, I don't think completely overhauling any roster in a year is very smart.
We have guys that should remain. I don't want to lose some of our better players because we are once again changing schemes on both offense and defense.

I certainly understand that and it's also my main concern. I believe our most talented players can play in most schemes. I'm just not sure what the new regime will think.

Dolphins hire Adam Gase Posted by Zac Jackson on January 9, 2016, 11:39 AM EST link Adam Gase will be introduced as the Dolphins’ new head coach on Saturday, PFT has confirmed. Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald was first to report that the hiring of Gase is a “done deal” and that a press conference has been tentatively set for 3 p.m. Gase, 37, was the Bears’ offensive coordinator in 2015 after serving as the Broncos’ offensive coordinator for two seasons. Earlier Saturday, a source told PFT that the Dolphins were “making progress” towards a deal with Gase, who’s been busy on the interview circuit this week. He had also interviewed with the Browns, Giants and Eagles.

Why would the top candidate bypass Jimmy Haslam and the Browns?
Wonder why?

Wonder why? same reason he bypassed the Giants and Eagles?
