Yeah, we need another thread entitled: Gilber's Breakout Season. For the record - I of course started that thread. For the record you of all people should know...if you are going to quote somebody do it accurately - Vice versa you would be so so upset at me for what you just said.
Point... In that thread ENTITLED really ENTITLED not your Made up crap. You conveniently left out Gilberts (notice you were accurate enough to include the typo) breakout Season...not finished with a PERIOD but finished with a ? Now you being a teacher forever correcting peoples body of work.
What would say to the total meaning of the THREAD with a QUESTION MARK and not a matter of fact PERIOD.
If you are going to piss on me...at least be accurate!

Yeah I know you weren't - man let me po tab and knock him. I will however relax just do the same when you get mad at me for posting something personal that is inaccurate. The timing was different I thought at the time it was a valid thread. What it became cause he got less playing time then the previous season made it almost bizarre. And the answer was obviously NO not his breakout season.
Just so happened it was my thread and your slam is about positive posting and nothing personal. But a lot of your posts are about Posters and not football. Just bringing this to your attention so you don't think peoples responses are just personal attacks.
Nuff said, I'm relaxed. Of course in even stating that you have to INSULT what's with this ALICE crap...oh wait another joke...haha very funny. You just don't get it. You ask for all the grief you get and then you fall back on - come on stop picking on me lets talk football. My point do onto others which you would have done onto you! Alice smh

Is anyone else expecting Gilbert to finally get some run ?
His playing background and early coaching career would suggest he can get more out of our defensive backfield. Gilbert is the less publicized version of Manziel. Everyone not named Peyton Manning or Tom Brady is a less publicized version of Manziel.

I came in here prepared to trash Horton and the hiring of a guy who had a bad defense. Then I went out and looked at the stats from last year. The Titans weren't that bad at all.
Total yards - 12th Passing Yards - 7th Rushing - 18th
and the most important, points scored against - 27th
I went over to the Titans board to check it out and most of them seem to think Leabeu took over and they got better.
Their roster on defense looks so weak. Just from name recognition I see Jason McCourty but he was garbage last year and wasn't even ranked on PFF. Their best corner was Parish Cox who ranked 56th.
Danoris Searcy ranked 12th Michael Griffin was 60th Daimion Sanford was 61st
Wesley Woodyard was a top 10 linebacker ranked 9th. Zach Brown 29th Avery Williamson 58th
Jurell Casey was not surprisingly their best Interior Lineman ranked 13th. Allen Woods 87th KArl Lug 64th Daquan Jones 29th
Brian Orakpo was their best Edge guy ranked 24th Derick Morgan 51st No one else was ranked.

That's great, BpG, but did you forget Horton was here and we do have a pretty good reference point?

Everyone not named Peyton Manning or Tom Brady is a less publicized version of Manziel. I don't think you are being fair. Gilbert is a stiff from moment one. You don't have to be a football genius to see that he is/was/will always be a mediocre CB. Manziel has showed us flashes. He is far from being a proved QB but I wouldn't be very surprised if he turned out to be a solid/average QB. The choir boy QB isn't something I agree. If he goes out and produces on the field, I don't mind a QBs vices. I have a problem with thugs, criminals, animal butchers and rapers, but in my book a guy that gets drunk and smokes some weed is just a regular folk. You have to be really ignorant to expect any football player or any professional sports player the be the role model for your child...

I wanted to gain some perspective on his work while he's been gone. It doesn't look like much changed for Ray, he was dealing with mediocre talent on another bad, bad team.

This is my big concern with Horton.
Great stats with yardage is nice for the Fantasy Football crowd, but Points Allowed is what matters in real football.
If you give up a ton of yards, but keep them out of the endzone... you're doing well, but you have something you can improve on to tighten things up.
Conversely, if you are letting them in the endzone all the time, what you're doing with yardage doesn't really matter... you're already failing.
All that being what it is: did the Titans give their opponents a ton of short fields this year, or what?
Browns is the Browns

Didn't the Titans bring in Dick LeBeau last year to kinda be the Co-Defensive Coordinator last year and didn't they name him DC for next year?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The Titans gave up the most turnovers on offense and had one of, if not the worst, kickoff coverage in the NFL last year. Does not mean much either way, imo.
you had a good run Hank.

Hoping the new HC will demand better of this staff and upgrade the sideline with a nastier game plan. Listen less; tell more. Dictate to staff and demand results. Our D was beyond disappointing; it crippled us. Were they better at the end? Not in my opinion. Attack the weaknesses you see early on.

Didn't need 24 hours - I forgot about it.
back to the thread...Horton was my first choice when I heard his name tossed around. I thought no way who ever comes back to the same team 2 years later for the same job...People out there in the business either really love the Browns and their fans...or Hue Jackson is somebody special!!
Yes, I'm looking forward to a good D next year but its the concept of what this D looks like 3 years down the road. I want a dominating defense. One that takes it to the O. I thought we lost the Steeler game as we were so passive and dropped 7-8 in coverage and just let Ben sit back there on one leg, don't move and pick us apart. That was my low of our Defense in 2015.

Of course it would be nice to actually have assistants that other teams covet and want.. at least that would mean we are doing things right for a change.

No, I would be really surprised if Horton does enough in his first year to warrant HC consideration... I'm hoping it's a problem we have in 2 years though..

I'll be shocked if it happens before year 3.... and we don't let coaches get to year 3 very often around these parts.

tab, I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I promise you that was not my intent. I was just remembering all the positive posts in that thread and being called a Negative Nancy because I didn't buy into Gilbert turning it around. Not by you. Just a general thang.
It was one of those thread that after I would say something negative about Gilbert, I would read a few posts about how certain guys choose to live their lives as optimists and not be so negative. LOL man, those types of posts crack me up. Like being optimistic about things you have absolutely no control over is going to make a difference. I believe in being optimistic, too..........but, I limit that to what I can control.
For example.............I am not about to drive my XLR down into the hood, get out w/a suit on, and take a stroll down the street after midnight because I am so flipping optimistic that my fellow humans are all good, kind, and caring citizens.
But again.........I wasn't trying to hurt you, but if I did.......I'm sorry.

My post wasn't around Gilbert "breaking out"
I asked if he would get more run
We know he was in the doghouse and probably should have seen the field more regardless towards the end of the season
I personally think pets doghouse limited our ability to evaluate and cut bait on guys we deemed were bad practice players or teammates / because they didn't get the Sunday run that would have confirmed it.

Of course it would be nice to actually have assistants that other teams covet and want.. at least that would mean we are doing things right for a change. If you build your staff right, Horton's successor would ideally already be on the coaching roster. Promote the assistant; continue the plan without missing a step. It's a luxury that's only afforded to teams that don't clean-sweep their staffs every 2 years. But boy, what a luxury to have, eh?

jmho Horton will be gone to a HC job or out of town. Cost saving move by Sashi and lateral stepping stone potential move by RH.
