Your reading comprehension is the worst I have ever seen. I would not bring it up, but you read things and use what people say to attack them. Dude, you can't read.
I AM CALLING IT STUPID TO DRAFT A QB AT NUMBER TWO!!!!
Can you read that? It's my freaking opinion. It doesn't mean that it is fact. Jesus!

Can you read that? It's my freaking opinion. It doesn't mean that it is fact. Jesus! So it's stupid to draft a QB at number 2, but the Browns aren't stupid if they do that? Sorry, but if that isn't calling the Browns stupid for drafting a QB at 2, I have no freaking idea what the hell you are speaking of. As for my comprehension ability, I think you better look in the damn mirror first

I really think you should start worrying more about what Daman posts rather than what other people post.
You add NOTHING to the discussion. Just stupid bickering. The conversation was between Bone and I. I guarantee you he knew what I meant, but you gotta jump in a try to "catch" a poster. Pathetic.

McCown is a 2-17 QB in his last 19 starts. I read some where that he was compared to Bernie Kosar because of his statistics last season. Does anyone see Bernie Kosar in McCown? The Browns need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Draft a QB, start the QB all 16 games if healthy, make a commitment to the QB and HC for 2 or 3 seasons together. Give it a chance. I surmise that if the Browns draft a QB in the 1st round and sit him behind McCown, the Browns will be searching for another QB in the 2018 NFL draft as the QB will be playing as a rookie in his second season and the coach will be trying to save his job. New coach coming in after a bad season, new QB search. We need a Carr, Bridgewater, Bortles. We do not need a Flynn or Garoppolo. Sink or swim. Or as my Drill Instructor used to tell me, "Soldier either sh*t or get off the pot, son. You are either able or you are unable. Which is it soldier?"
I would happily trade pick 32 for Jimmy Garoppolo if NE was a willing partner. He was the best QB drafted in that draft and he is way better than anything in this year's draft.

In describing McCown prior to the season I stated that most will be surprised.
If we need the O to carry the team on the shoulders...not our QB. I thought then and still think so now. We will go as far as our Defense takes us. He is not going to take a BAD team and get them to overachieve. Most games we lost with him in as the starter really had little to do with McCown playing so bad that we lost. I cannot take his record from the last two seasons and say see he sucks. When he played for 2 of the worst teams in football. I didn't see his play the major cause of those teams losing.
Note when I say this I'm not saying - Man this is the guy we've been waiting for...wait and see. NOT WHAT I'M SAYING.
Until the kid we draft starts to "GET IT" McCown is a good Bridge QB. When the kid is some what ready...his era starts. Its up to the kid to decide when it might be game #1, 5, last 4 games? It might be next year.
The media...is going to tell us how we should play him now cause then their articles will get read nationally. Its not because of their best interest of the Browns. If somebody can prove to me he will develop better and faster if he goes right into the fire I would consider that. But I think its the opposite. He gets tutored hard and in the NFL game. He puts in his extra time watching film...It will be in practice that he will start to show how he is getting it and is ready for the NFL. You have to be very careful not to destroy their confidence. Not to have them go into what we consider bad habits...stuff that they would succeed in College with but not in the NFL. More INTs, more Sacks. Could ruin the kid.

I hate to disagree with you buddy. But I Hope a rookie is given time to grow and learn. It could be six months, one year, or three years. Heck as long as he learns and becomes A QB that can lead us to a Super Bowl win who really cares how long it takes

Why I wouldn't mind covering all bases.
1. Sign Cousins 3-5 years. 2. Draft our young franchise QB Prospect. 3. No rush in developing him. 4. When he is ready and we are SURE...get a pretty penny for Cousins assuming there are years left on his contract.
5. Rivers, Rodgers all benefited. And they seem stronger and able to take the hits?
I'm sure there are some bad examples but it doesn't help my point...lol

1/2. I'd rather just stick with McCown for another year to groom the QB prospect. Why (most likely) overspend on Cousins when he'd have to learn a whole new system and set of players?
3. I kind of get this thought process, but how long does it take? Do you need to sit for a year, 2 years, 3 years? In my mind, if a guy is putting in the work off the field/in the classroom/ on his own time, and really loves the game and it is a priority for him, he should only need a year as a back up. I think the best way to learn is to do.
4. I don't think there is such a thing as SURE in the NFL. What happens if Cousins regresses and has an albatross-like contract? We'd be in cap hell. Or do you think Cousins will come at a reasonable price?
5. Cam started right away and he's grown into an MVP. Wentz has a solid frame and he's used to taking hits.
McCown looked solid last year. If you're looking at a bridge QB, why not stick with the "savvy vet" you've already got. He wasn't the primary reason we lost games last year.

But we also need to keep some coaches as well. Teaching and leaving is not all good.

I've been kinda thinking about this. I don't think we can get Cousins, Oswieler, RGIII or any other QB worth a damn with the possible exception of Kapernick. Not sure I want him but reports are that Kelly loves him. We'll see.
So it kind of appears that the only QB we can snag is one of them in this draft. Where to take one is not my concern. Where they get the guy they like is where they get him.
If that happens, I'd suspect that McCown will start while they groom the new guy. That is unless he (whoever HE is) comes on like gangbusters and takes the job.

I don't think any of this year's qbs will come close to Cousins. The kid is a rising star in this league. No way to predict the future of each QB in this class but more often than some like to admit, those doing the evaluating "MISS" on their QB evaluations.
There is no way to predict the many things that can stunt a young QBs progress..injuries, off the field issues, the mindset of management, the quality of the coaching staff in charge of molding each QB, the quality of the offensive unit a young QB has to work with.
In Cousins' case, he has had 5 yrs to develop so trying to compare the QBs in this draft class to Cousins after his 5 yrs of experience in the NFL...well, you know, not a fair comparison.
I will go with the odds and say there will be a QB or more who will turn out to be as good and better than Cousins, after 5 yrs experience.

McCown looked solid last year. If you're looking at a bridge QB, why not stick with the "savvy vet" you've already got. He wasn't the primary reason we lost games last year. McCown btw is our QB#3 actually #2 as the rookie will be #3 in line to start.
How Long...actually most of that would be determined by Cousins. If he is playing GREAT the longer it will take. Rivers a #4 overall pick sat a lot long than expected because of the emergence of Brees from Mediocre to great.
Probably without any lousy string of injuries the first year is a sit. After than will be determined on his progress vs. how well Cousins is playing.
Overkill? WE GOT TO HAVE a QB we cannot put all the eggs into one basket. We need to start a winning culture here. No reason why we can't be 8-8 and possibly a shot at a playoff birth this season (as a goal as I don't wish to get the reality guys upset...lol )
But in year two this franchise has to be a post season competitor just to eliminate that possible reboot again.
I think Cousins or for me Bradford would do that as we wait on the kid. Osweiller - he's athletic but I'm not wowed with him (small data base) he has the experience 5th season in 2016. Just a younger McCown??? as far as talent goes.

j/c I see Cousins like you see Osweiler, 'tab. He looks like a younger McCown to me, but actually stuck with the same team and had some continuity. He's had one good year (Reminiscent of McCown in Chicago) and the NFC East was a mess this year. He was on a later round rookie contract, so he's going to want to get paid. I agree we need to have a QB. I just don't see the need for Cousins. McCown was not the problem last season. He will need to be replaced before too long. Enter Wentz. Hello, winning mentality. His team won a championship every year he was in college. I think Hue Jack will also help with that mentality (at least hopefully). Cousins went 9-7 in the NFC Least. Doesn't scream winner to me. He did get hot at the end of the year against some teams that packed it in for the season. He lost to the Cowboys with Cassel at QB and a decimated Defense before that. He wilted in the playoffs with 3 fumbles and 0 4th quarter points. Besides the 'Skins are expected to franchise him if they can't hammer out a deal Link I'd rather spend money on Bruce Irvin in FA than Cousins. He seems to fit Horton's Big Guys who can Run and would hopefully add some pass rush. Roll with McCown, Wentz, and Davis at QB.

You would rather roll w/drafting an unproven rookie over Cousins and a impact defensive player w/the second overall pick?

Seriously?!?!? What if Kirk Cousins is 2007 Derek Anderson? How proven is he? Also, a draft pick might offer more upside along with a much cheaper contract. (He is definitely more proven than a draft pick.) It doesn't even matter at this point, Cousins is not going anywhere.

What if Wentz is the next Jarmucus Russell?
What if Goff is the next Mark Sanchez?
What if Lynch is the next Kapernick?
That's a dumb way to think about things.

That's a dumb way to think about things. Right. Cousins is not without risk. He is not some well-established QB. He had one above-average year in which his team didn't win one game against a team with a winning record. And you'll be paying him $20 million a year.

Seriously?!?!? I'd rather stick with McCown than overpay Cousins. They look very comparable to me. I like McCown in the mentor role better. Cousins would have to learn a new system and familiarize himself with all new personnel. Plus, Washington is franchising Cousins if they don't have a deal in place, so why pin your hopes on him. I don't see a sure fire impact defensive player. I see a risk at QB and a similar risk on Defense. It's a deep draft, but not spectacular at the top. I see lots of red flags on the projected top guys. Our team has god awful luck with red flags. Wentz doesn't have a bunch of red flags off the field (he had the wrist injury, but unlike the ILBs has already played post-op) and the biggest red flags are his progressions, which we see differently, and his level of competition that has been overcome before (numerous times). I see a bunch of above average interior D-lineman, but that's not where our need is. Who are you taking at number 2 in your scenario, Vers? What are you doing at QB if Cousins stays in Washington?

I think to insure the prospect is not rushed...we could take a stab at Cousins or for me I'd like Bradford but he probably is asking way too much. But whoever it is they would be short term. "IF" the prospect is groomed and becomes a stud. "IF" the prospect is a bust although Wen

That's a dumb way to think about things. Isn't the entire draft and FA period basically a "What if...."? How is that a dumb way to look at things? If Cousins becomes available it's because the Redskins didn't think highly enough of him to pay him decent starter money... that says something because they would be left with NOTHING just like us... Now it's quite possible that the Redskins are wrong, they have been wrong about as many times as we have in the last decade... but I don't know if Cousins is a long term answer or not...

Seriously?!?!? I agree. I'd take Cousins in a heartbeat. Then we could shop our pick if indeed we didn't want to sit at #2. Trade back a few slots, don't rape a team just to get the deal done, draft a backer or corner, or receiver or whatever you want, and pick up another pick or two and get better in a hurry. The more I read, things were pretty disfunctional this past season. It wasn't simply not having any talent. We have some talent on this team. We have a good O-line, assuming we manage to keep at least one of the two in question. We have good tightends. Cousins, McCown, and whoever....maybe a Prescott give us a good QB room. I like our backs. I think their problems were more a reflection of coaching and scheme rather then them not being any good. Add another receiver in the draft and get Gordon back, and we have weapons. The D side is another matter. I agree with you. If we can keep from drafting a QB in the first, we can draft quite a few solid defensive players since defense is the strength of this draft. I think we can get good defensive players 5 rounds deep. Add in a 2nd and a 4th to drop back 5-6 slots in the first and we can impact the D in a big way.

If we rape a team, does that mean we are doing something bad or something good? I'm confused.
Kirk Cousins is going to get franchised or sign a long term deal. We have not shot at him.

This is not for the crowd who doesn't want to learn, but would rather just belittle anyone who doesn't agree w/the mantra of "We MUST draft a QB w/the second overall pick.
Here are some FACTS about Cousins. They were accomplished in the NFL........not in college against sucky defenses.
Facts:
--5th in Overall QB Rating. Let's repeat that......of all the QBs in the entire NFL, Cousins had the 5th highest QB rating.
--69.8 Completion percentage
--4,166 Passing yards.
--7.6 Yds. per pass completion
--29 TD passes
--11 Interceptions, many of them early on.
--Washington's offense was 10th in scoring.
--Their running game was 20th in the league while the passing game was 10th.
And people wanna act like I am crazy because I prefer him over a few guys that no one can really make their minds up on? Goff was the man. Then Lynch was the man. Now, Wentz is the man. All concluded AFTER the games ended.
I was an idiot for wanting Teddy over Johnny a couple of years ago, too. I was an idiot for saying that Timid, BQ, and Weeden sucked, too. I was nuts for wanting Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers in past drafts. And I am sure I will be an idiot the next time the Browns are looking for a qb after the guy they draft this year fails.

Did Washington sign him today? If they don't sign him to an extension, then he will be franchise tagged. Whatever happens, don't expect Cousins to reach the open market. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported in January, per sources, the Redskins are prepared to franchise tag Cousins if they can't execute a blockbuster deal.
"He's not getting out of the building," one source told Breer at the time. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...n-longterm-dealI guess we could sign him and lose two first rounds picks.

I don't see anything there about them actually signing him or franchising him......as in reality. I saw speculation, but no facts. I also read where they broke off talks. Is that speculation or a fact? I think Washington would be foolish to let him go, but they do have Snyder and he still loves RGIII and he STILL has an ego that may not want to admit he blew it by trading all those picks for RGIII. So, it's not out of the question. I also think that the Browns would be ignorant to not spend a fortune on Cousins if he is available and instead draft one of the three QBs who keep flip-flopping on the draft boards, not because they are so good, but because none of them are all that. Btw.............had the Browns drafted Teddy, we would not be having this dumb conversation.

QBs in Cousins' situation don't hit the open market.
Daniel Snyder is very dumb. He is not that dumb.

I never said it did.
And no matter how many times you say these guys are good qbs, it also does not make it true.
I'm sorry if me not liking this year's crop of qbs annoys you. But.........not that sorry. Ahh, these are your exact words from a few posts up this thread: hopefully the Browns won't be stupid enough to take a qb at number 2 As far as I'm concerned, that's calling it stupid to take a QB at 2! kind of is really stupid to take a QB in this draft at #2 overall...when none of them are first round worthy QB's...guess that's just my opinion tho. I still say why reach for a QB at 2 when we could get Bosa at 2 then a QB later when the value is there
I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill

If we rape a team, does that mean we are doing something bad or something good? I'm confused. I think he is saying that if we went this route then the goal is to trade down. Do not stand pat just because we can't get some team to pay a king's ransom to trade with us. If we can get value we can live with, then do it. If we can gouge someone then of course we do that, but do not make it a requirement. It's like my brother-in-law. When he goes to sell something he does not want anymore, like furniture, he wants pretty much what he paid for it originally. He says he would rather put it in the garbage than not get full price back for it. Explains why he pays for storage on a boat he has not put in the water for about 10 years now.
