Nice win for the good guys.
Not every win is going to be pretty. Those other guys are NBA coaches for a reason also, and they are going to try to find ways to slow us down.
You may be in the drivers seat but God is holding the map. #GMSTRONG

You cut the rotation down when you got healthy players, not when you go limping into the finals. Gee Swish.........good thing Lue is doing a much better job than the evil Blatt did w/the rotations. Let's look at last night's minutes, shall we:

you also forgot we got a W last night.
but i forgot, you aren't a cavs fan anymore. you're just some guy posting on browns forums.
also, we went into overtime. they had their starters on the floor in OT. are you suggesting we shouldn't as well?
and it's still a problem. those guys should've got some minutes. regardless if we won or not.
that's my stance. i don't see a reason to run guys into the ground in the regular season.
but thanks for coming on to say good win.
ahh, nevermind. it's ok vers. those shrines of former cleveland coaches you seem to worship isn't gonna go anywhere. just make sure it doesn't start being smelly in your house.

Did anyone watch the game on NBA TV? Did you hear that incredible stat at the end of the game? The Cavs had a grand total of 9 passes on their last 10 possessions of the 4th quarter. That is LESS than one pass per possession. I wonder if that is an all-time record? Seriously, it might be.
I still contend that the success and struggles w/the Cavs were not due to Blatt, but due to the players, most notably...LeBron, and then Love/Kyrie.

I know they got a win, Swish.
Do you know that the team also won games w/Blatt? Did you know they were first in the Eastern Conference? Did you know they were 30 and 11? Did you know that the Cavs reached the Finals last year?
None of that counts, right? It's surely less meaningful than a win against a mediocre team in early February in the eyes of the all-knowing and very fair, Swish......Master of the Basketball Universe.

blatt's job as a coach is to get the players to buy into his system and lead.
since he wasn't capable of that, he needed to go.
our offensive efficiency has shot up, and our turnovers are down.
lebron is the only reason we even get to sniff the finals. so if blatt can't get lebron to buy in, bye bye blatt, or any coach for that matter.

i never claimed to be a master whatsoever.
you're the one acting like a BB god around here. and getting pissy at anybody that disagrees with your takes. you forget you're just a guy watching the NBA like the rest of us.
i already stated why blatt had to go. no need in repeating myself.

I believe that LeBron was the issue. Not Blatt. The King never gave Blatt a chance. You are an excuse maker, Swish. You remind me of the parents of a child who starts fights w/other kids at school and then you blame the other kids, teachers, the school, and society for your own child's problems.

that's awkwardly deep.
but i come from a family where i take responsibility for my own actions. seeing as i left the army as a SSG after 8 years, i'd say i did a pretty good job of owning my actions.
maybe the king did give blatt a chance, and he ruined it by trying to call a TO with no TO's available, or trying to have lebron make the inbound pass instead of the game winning shot.
and maybe the other players didn't like him as well.
your boy is gone. i wish you was too. you already jumped off the bandwagon, so stay off.

Oh wait! The great Spencer Haywood. What, it wasn't Spencer? It was Brendan Haywood? I just realized something. Most of you probably never even heard of Spencer Haywood. My mistake. It's tough getting old. Rudy T remembers. I think you are thinking of Kermit Washington???? For anyone interested, Spencer Haywood started off in the ABA w/Denver...I believe. He later played w/the Supersonics in the NBA. He was a rookie around 1970 and was kind of a freak of nature at that point. He was a 6'9" forward in a day when some of the great centers were not that tall. Wes Unseld was 6'7." Willis Reed and Bill Russell were both around 6'9." Haywood was very explosive in the paint. He could also hit the 15 footer. Very unique player who--along w/Connie Hawkins---kinda transcended the game. They were the new type of NBA player before there were NBA players like them, in that they were tall, strong, agile, skilled, acrobatic, etc. Back then, players were more limited and not so multi-dimensional and physically gifted. One thing that I thought was amazing about Haywood was that he had the most amazing hands. They were freaking huge! I heard, but never confirmed, that he had ......hmmmm...how do I describe this.....look at your hand and you see the three segments that make up your fingers? Well, he had 4 instead of three. I thought that was pretty amazing. Anyway........he was a great player and I don't think he has been properly recognized. It could be because I think he sued the NBA for early entry way back in the day.

It was a nice win.. it's obvious the Cavs are still growing into this whole up-tempo and more motion style of play because when things get right, they revert back to iso-ball. They are just like a QB working on new throwing mechanics... in shorts with time to drop set, and throw, those mechanics look good... but with pressure if the face, the old mechanics come back.. LBJ acknowledged it after the game.. Oh well, a win is a win and I guess it's actually good to be able to win more than one way. I know if I was a Pacers fan, that "play" at the end of regulation of dribbling around until there was 4 seconds on the clock and then throwing up a fall away shot with a hand in your face would drive me nuts.. as would the not getting a shot off at the end of OT. These teams seem to have designed plays coming out of time outs, they have designed in-bounds plays from the side, designed in-bounds plays from under the basket... but so many teams just stand around hoping their star can force in a shot at the buzzer... it's always just baffled me.

Indiana is another team that is notorious for getting away with grabs and pushes. It's even worse at their place. I remember that it was why they have Miami trouble in the regular season when they had LBJ.
They're not a dirty team though. That title still belongs to Chicago. Mike Dunleavy is one of the dirtiest players in the league. Then you have the always lovely Joahkim Noah and Taj Gibson.

DC, Turner was supposed to go set a pick for either Hill or George to come off of on the wing. He didn't do so. He is a rookie and there are growing pains w/young guys. But man, that kid can ball. I loved how he kept rejecting LeBron's shots. He's going to be an excellent player.

Maybe it's just a philosophical difference between me and many coaches... get into your offense at about 12 or 13 seconds (not 4 or 5), run the offense and get the best shot you can anywhere in that set... I would absolutely, positively rather have a nice wide open mid-range jumper or a layup with 5 or 6 seconds left than a forced shot at the buzzer... give me the better shot, then I'll take my chances on defense.. every single day. I get that it was tied, I get that if you miss at 5 or 6 seconds, you risk losing the game in regulation as opposed to shooting at the buzzer, the worst that happens is OT... I still want to get the best shot.

I agree w/you that the play started too late. They did the same thing in OT, w/PG dribbling and wasting time and then forcing a pass to Hill, who wasn't even beyond the 3-pt line.
I think Vogel is a good coach, but man, those sets were both terrible.

I think Vogel is a good coach too.... I've seen some of the best coaches do it (or allow it to happen) in the NBA and in college.. and I've never liked it. You play the entire game running an offense, trusting that it will get you a good look at the basket, then when you absolutely NEED a good look at the basket, you do something completely different and trust that one guy, by himself, is going to make that happen with 4 other guys just standing in a line...
If you have a LeBron or a Curry type player.. ok, maybe I can it, but even then.. get the defense moving, set some screens, have a second or even a third option.
Heck, when Mike Brown was the coach, I thought he did a pretty good job with this.. yea LeBron was always the catalyst with the ball... but he had the option to pull up and shoot, he had the option to drive, if he drove you had shooters rotating to get open if the defense collapsed, you had a guy cutting along the baseline... If he pulled up and shot he did it with time to get a rebound and a put back if he missed...

i didn't like the second half last night, first quarter we came out like we wanted and moved the ball and everything was great, second half it was just bad basketball against a very average team. One thing that concerns me is we are giving up 100 points a game. While we are scoring better and the big 3 seem to playing better, this teams screams Mike D'Antoni Sun's.. you can't go deep in the playoffs giving up 100 points a game. I hope the addition of the DC will help that as we move along.
As far as the whole Lue/Blatt debate. Regardless who is the better xo's guy (which 100% is Blatt) thats not what its all about in the NBA, you have to respect the guy drawing those x's and o's, Lue and the players just from these few games seem to have a much better rapport in the huddle then Blatt ever did. That can't be understated. I know my military bros in arms will attest, knowing that person in charge is going to put you in the best possible situation to succeed and trusting that person is paramount to just about anything. So its all on Lue and the players now, the players think this is a better fit after firing the coach of the finals, well then anything less than a championship is a failure. Put up or shut up time. But I will say that they change in Love has been pretty significant under Lue, he's def. using him alot better than blatt did. Blatt just wanted a stretch 4, but love is gangbusters in the post and at the elbow.

Defense is mostly effort related, so we know they can turn that on when they need to.

i hope you're right, because right now, we still have to rely on Delly's D over kyrie's.

Defense is mostly effort related, so we know they can turn that on when they need to. A couple things.. first, when you play offense to have more possessions, that means the other team is also going to have more possessions.. the points you give up are going to go up. That's why the key indicator is defensive efficiency per 100 possessions and not just number of points per game. Second, most of the games since the Chicago game, the Cavs have played part (or most) of the game with a significant lead, you aren't going to win many games by 30.. other teams are going to make runs when you have a big lead and your players are going to rest a little.. I'm not all that worried about the defense. I will disagree that defense is mostly about effort, that may be true in some cases against some teams but in the most important cases, like against San Antonio and Golden State, it is very much about proper rotations and shifts. If you aren't where you are supposed to be, those good teams will chew you up and spit you out.

I agree that effort only goes so far. Nobody can questions Delli's effort on Curry or Ehlo's effort on Jordon.

I can post this, though...... Scroll through it and see where Love's shots came from.

I wish I could find one of those shot distribution graphics like they show on TV. I can post this, though...... This was a quote from an article earlier in the thread: After promising more elbow touches for Love, the forward has averaged nearly six elbow touches per game since Lue took over, an increase of 50 percent per game from his previous average according to player tracking data on NBA.com. Granted, we're talking a smaller sample size for Lue and it didn't include last night.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--warriors-serious-threat-to-sign-kevin-durant-182559375.htmlThis would not be fair. Curry, Green, Thompson, and Durant on the same team is quite ridiculous. And it's also not that far fetched. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/how-the-warriors-can-afford-to-sign-kevin-durant-043710075.htmlStep 1: Retain the Big Three Golden State can keep All-Stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. All 3 players have a combined guarantee salary of $44 million.
Step 2: Guarantee Shaun Livingston’s contract The versatile Livingston’s $5.7 million contract becomes guaranteed on June 30. Only $3 million is currently guaranteed.
Step 3: Keep the youth Kevon Looney, 19, has a huge upside and great value because he is on a rookie contract for $1.2 million next season. Golden State also has its own first-round pick, projected at No. 30. Once the Warriors make this selection in June, there will be a cap hold of $973,000. The Warriors could also follow the San Antonio Spurs’ approach and take an international player and leave him in Europe. The cap hold would then be released if Golden State goes this route. Keep in mind that Golden State cannot trade its 2016 first-round pick.
Step 4: Hold on to Festus Ezeli If Warriors management feels that Ezeli can stay healthy in the long run, then he is a keeper. The 26-year-old is having a career year but missed the 2013-14 season and parts of last season with various injuries, and he is currently sidelined with a knee injury. Ezeli has a $5 million salary cap hold but could see his salary double on the open market.
Step 5: Trade Andre Iguodala Obtaining the 32-year-old Iguodala in the final season of an $11.1 million contract would be a bargain for a team looking for a wing this summer. The small forward market will be thin in July with 10 teams in need having cap room.
Step 6: Exercise stretch provision on Andrew Bogut The best-case scenario would be to find a trade partner for Andrew Bogut. The 31-year-old will be going into his final year of his contract with a cap hit of $11 million. If Golden State cannot trade him, the Warriors would be allowed to stretch his contract over three seasons. Stretching Bogut’s deal means there would be $3.6 million counting against the salary cap.
Note: There is a scenario that includes the steps mentioned in which Golden State can elect to retain Andrew Bogut but renounce Festus Ezeli. The Warriors would have close to $23 million in cap space if they did so.
Step 7: Exercise stretch provision on Jason Thompson Jason Thompson has $2.6 million in guaranteed salary and needs to be waived by June 26 before his entire $6.8 million contract is guaranteed. Waiving Thompson and stretching his $2.6 million salary over three seasons would see the Warriors incur a cap hit of $883,000.
Step 8: Withdraw the qualifying offer and renounce Harrison Barnes Out of all the steps, this is the one that is the toughest to swallow. Since being drafted in the first round in 2012, Harrison Barnes has gotten better each year. Finding a team in a sign-and-trade scenario would not benefit Barnes financially or with the length of his contract. Renouncing him would free the Warriors of his $9.6 million cap hold. This is the biggest sacrifice Golden State would have to make.
Step 9: Renounce free-agent cap holds Electing to renounce the cap holds on Mareesse Speights, Leandro Barbosa, Brandon Rush, James McAdoo, Ian Clark, Jermaine O’Neal and Ognen Kuzmic would free up $17 million in cap space. The players renounced could only sign for the minimum or midlevel room if Golden State elected to bring them back.
Although the process seems complicated, ask yourself: Would you trade Harrison Barnes, Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut for the chance to land Kevin Durant?

I understand wanting Durant, but cutting Iggy, Barnes, and half of their bench....? As the article says, would you trade Iguodala, Barnes, and Bogut/Ezeli for Durant? The answer is yes. Speights, Barbosa, and Rush are role players, those spots can easily be filled through the mid-level exception and/or minimum contracts.

They are already destroying the league, and could very easily win a second straight title. But yea, let's blow that up just so they can bring in another super-star and hope it doesn't upset the system they've got going? They won the Finals last year because they got production from spots 1 through 10 and everyone knew their role. The Cavs wore out because they only had 6 guys that were worthy of major minutes.

They would have Curry, Durant, Thompson, Green, Livingston, Looney, and Ezeli or Bogut. That's seven guys right there. They could easily fill their roster out with pretty good role players from there.

Well, if you have time..........look up the site I linked. It shows where Love shot the ball from last night. I am not seeing so many more post up moves. I just think he is shooting better.

Are you serious? Durant is an MVP caliber player in his prime. If you can sign him, you sign him lol. 29 teams won't like it but that's just real talk. The Cavs had 6 guys or whatever because 2 of our 3 best players were injured and at least a couple more imploded. But a team can easily piece together role players via trades, the draft, and free agency (with various exceptions). The stars are vastly more difficult to get and you have to get them when you can. We're talking about a 27 year old Kevin Durant. edit: also think about this. If Durant did indeed sign there, the Warriors would be by far the place to go for the vets who want a ring and are willing to take a steep discount. Which would make it all the more easy to find a serviceable backup wing or rim protector or whatever

Sent my brother the KD/GS link..
His responses were
"If im GS I say no" "Clear out all that money and 3 guys for 1? Nope not worth it" "What if KD gets hurt? Congrats you traded the whole season"** "They rely on Iggy"
I am baffled.
If this is a legit thing, and KDs on board (#tampering) how, as GS, do you not do it?
** - My response to that: "What if Curry gets hurt? What if the whole team gets the aids? Thats a ridiculous reason not to go after a player"
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

It very well may be unstoppable, but chemistry is huge in basketball. Absolutely huge.

Even if the Warriors were to play big they would all fit into their natural positions (Ezeli/Bogut, Green, Durant, Thompson, and Curry). I love watching good, interesting basketball. There would be nothing more interesting than watching Durant try and fit in with the Warriors.

The Heat won two titles with LeBron, Wade, and Bosh. This with LeBron being the ultimate sulker. I believe the team atmosphere and leadership of the Warriors would overcome most selfishness that would crop up.

I am not saying it wouldn't work, but there would certainly be a risk involved because chemistry is huge in basketball, moreso than any other major sport. The Warriors already have the best team in the league. They play very well as a team. That cannot be underrated.
Besides...........this is just a rumor....right?
