I like to laugh and have a several that I think are hysterical and a few who are revolutionary. I will come up w/more later. Would love to add them now, but I am so terrible w/names. I'll have to ask my kids the names of some of my favorites and perhaps you guys will help jog my memory, but for now:

1. Richard Pryor: Loved the man. He was so true. He lived his comedy, even the tragic aspects of it. I remember him saying it was so much harder to be funny once he became rich. He found humor in the trials of life........something us Brown's fans can certainly identify with. Anyone remember MudBone talking to the junkie on the street? At the end, Mud says......"Boy, I believe you got potential, but you gots to learn to how to handle the white man. That's why I am in the position I am today." Freaking hilarious. I actually have a true-life story of me parroting his words w/my wife.......it's too vulgar for here, but my wife replied........."like hell you are."

2. Lenny Bruce: Kinda before my time, but I loved his edge and his innovative style.

3. George Carlin: Loved how he played on words and human idiosyncrasies. Sometimes he worked my nerves, but overall, he was a genius.

4. Ron White: He probably isn't liked by many, but he cracked me up w/the booze and cigar and tough guy talk. The judge said........."Son, ignorance is no defense in a court of law." LOL

5. Sarah Silverman: LOL.........not sure I have the right woman. Have to ask the kids. But, it's a dark-haired lady who is actually very intelligent. Help me, peeps.

6. Chris Rock: Man, I love his energy. He puts his all into the show..........and he is damn funny. I never realized how intelligent that guy was until I listened to his stand-up.

Some others............Wanda Sykes, Bill Cosby [sorry, but he was funny back in the day], Robin Williams, Elayne Boosler.

Bill Cosby. Yeah, I know.... but you want me to be honest. His humor was clean, and he told a great story. I don't know if I'd find him funny now, but he really had me back in the day.

Richard Pryor. When he'd play all those characters, I could see folks I knew from my neighborhood. His humor was raw and real... and he pulled no punches. "Ya see that boy over there? Used to be a GENIUS! Booked the numbers, didn't need paper OR pencil. Now look at him- [boy] don't even know who HE is..." pure genius.

Chris Rock. Smarter than folks ever thought when he first hit. Real in the Richard Pryor mold. "Y'all remember the OJ trial? Black folks too happy; White folks too mad. I ain't seen this many pissed-off White people since they cancelled M.A.S.H. Black folks out dancin' in the streets: 'We won... we won!' What did we win? Every day I go the the mailbox, lookin' for my 'O.J. prize.... nothin'"

On the freakkin' floor!

Robin Williams: noone could improvise on-the-fly like him. Brilliant mind running at warp speed, that we got to witness in Real Time. His appearances on Carson were the stuff of legend. A great celebrity mimic, as well.

New School: Patrice O'Neal. He says all the stuff you think... but would never say in public. I love the fearlessness. AND- he's dead on-point and funny as hell.

There are more, but I'll stop here. Maybe I'll come back with a few more, but I want to catch up elsewhere on this site.

Eddie Murphy was a genius, although he was rather vulgar.
So was John Belushi.

Sam Kinison could make me laugh like few could, and then make my skin crawl with some of his comments the next. I hope that he got his soul right with God before he died.

Robin Williams was hilarious. He could change tone and approach 10 times in a single show, and you never knew what to expect next.

Steve Martin was a comedic genius.

Steven Wright, with his monotone delivery, was hilarious.

How about Andy Kaufman? Man, he was another talented comedian, who died way too soon.

Rodney Dangerfield was another true great of the genre. So was Bob Hope. Both were the old style guys, who never feared being the butt of the joke. Same with Johnny Carson.

Eddie Murphy - Raw and Delirious were amazing (I remember sneaking and watching
the as a young teen. I'm certain i didn't get half the jokes.

George Carlin - (bought tickets to his show for the groomsmen in my wedding)
He had an amazing grasp of the English language

Jerry Seinfeld - Saw him live a couple times. Great.


Richard Pryor - Before my time, but certainly appreciated.


Louis C.K. - Honesty

Mitch Hedberg always made me laugh .
Jim Jeffries had THE funniest bit on gun control I've ever heard .

You guys have covered all the greats. The first time I heard Andrew Dice Clay I laughed hysterically....the second time it was already getting old and not as funny. Red Skelton just popped into mind.

Over the years I’ve bought the albums of many comedians: Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Steven Wright, Bill Cosby.

If I had to pick my favorite, it would be George Carlin. Carlin’s comedy was not only hilariously funny but very deeply philosophical. (to me)

His stuff on God and religion is landmark.

Hands down, Robin Williams.. Mostly because most of his stuff wasn't scripted. He would just riff and kill.

Next without a doubt for me, George Carlin. I'm your hippy dippy weatherman, bringing you the hippy dippy weather......man LOL Wonderful WINO. Dude kills me


Richard Pryor was crazy nuts.. The expressions on his face could make you laugh.

Johnny Carson. Saw a video of him doing his vegas show, the man you saw on the Tonight show, was FILTHY in person but so damn funny.

Red Foxx, talk about Filthy, holy smokes. Saw him in Vegas in the early 90's at the old Hacienda Hotel. Man he was funny.

LOL........I am pretty sure that is from the same skit I mentioned. I think your part was the intro...w/a bunch of funny stuff in the middle and my part was the conclusion. I forgot to mention that he was twisting a pretend bottle cap off a liquor bottle and getting ready to take a drink while saying that.

GM & others: I didn't mention a lot of the older comedians because most wouldn't know them on here, but thanks for bringing them up.

Someone mentioned Cheech and Chong. Man, I loved their movies. Loved the one where they are smoking in Cheech's old Chevy and asks how he is driving and then the camera shows smoke pouring out of the car and they are stuck on a median strip.

Glad others expounded on Robin Williams. Dude's mind was so lightning fast. Great energy. How he could go from one topic to another in an instant still boggles my mind.

Any of you old-timers remember the Celebrity Roasts? Some of the "insults" were so freaking hilarious.

Being around here for years whining about QB's from Holcomb to Bridgewater and yet Vers, never got a dinner!

Yeah, but I get roasted on a daily basis.

If you like humor from England . . . you'd love these guys. Especially Armstrong & Miller's sketches where they are WWII fighter pilots with modern day slang...

I don't like comedians that rely on four letter curse words to illicit laughter a la Katt Williams. I like comedy that is based on truth with a little twist of sarcasm and witty verbiage. Like Carlin, like my English friends above, like Regan....

Haven't seen him mentioned, but Rodney Dangerfield was a very funny guy both as a stand-up comedian and as a comic actor.

"I tell ya, I'm so ugly, on Halloween, my wife sends the kids out as me!"

Only one person mentioned Louis Black!?!?!?! Guy is hilarious and my favorite for sure.
