I wholeheartedly agree. He can nominate anyone he wants.

However, the confirmation is still a big NO! thumbsdown

There's going to be a liberal judge in there within the next year, 40. No way anyone from the GOP wins the presidency. Must as well just accept that fact. I don't think the senate could or would stall it that long.

Come now, the GOP managed to limit Obama to only Doubling our National Debt over 8 years. You lack faith.

still making predictions?

I disagree. Hillary is going to be the nominee. She is a proven liar, scumbag.

What major establishment politicians don't lie? The American populace is used to this.

And wait, am I a scumbag?

Why call someone a scumbag when you once advocated harsh treatment of those who followed Islam? poke

That's kinda low, Peen.

I think he just skipped using the word "and."

I've known 'peen for an age, and it's not like him to call names.

Yeah, I agree.

No, I like you. Not sure where that came from? You are probably right. Even though I think Clinton is unethical, I probably shouldn't call her a scumbag. This is the time of year where there really isn't much to talk about so the conversations tend to enter non football areas and usually sink into non-productive areas.

Like last year, I think it's time to step back for a while. The new regime has kept me here longer then I was last year after the season. You guys have a good spring and summer. I may pop in for the draft, otherwise, I'll see you next season.

Thank you for eloquently capturing in a short sentence why we are where we are...

Not sure if any watches the show Chicago Fire, but there is a story line going on the past few episodes about politics. They hit the nail on the head on why politics are they way the are.

It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Swish, so you admit that the President is playing politics with the SCOTUS nomination and in turn politicizing the SCOTUS. Interesting how the President is given a pass in your eyes for playing politics while his political opposition is not. Perhaps you see the SCOTUS as a political entity as well and not as the People's Court.

I'm not in the habit of defending Obama, but in this instance, he has every right to say, "You started it."

If they had just sat back and allowed him to make his nomination and then fought that person on the merits (assuming they didn't like the person), it would have looked a lot better...

But they played their hand too soon announcing they wouldn't even discuss or vote... so now he potentially comes up with an R candidate. I think Swish summed it up pretty well, "Mitch, it's your move."

Whatcha gonna do? You going to cave on your promise because it's a R? (Makes you look weak.. you promised) You going to refuse to discuss or vote on an R? (Makes you look bad.. sabotaging one of your own)

If Obama can actually get the democrats behind this as a nomination (which might be his biggest problem)... this will be a big win for him no matter how it ends up.

So your feelings on the Senate being proactive and exercising the duty of advising the President on possible nominees to the SCOTUS is a political loser? I actually hope it is. I feel many Republicans and Democrats in the Senate should feel political pressure for their actions. I would not mind seeing a large sweeping of Senators from office in November, both Republican and Democrat. It also shows that the SCOTUS has become politicized. It is not a court to safe guard the liberties and rights of the citizenry any longer. It is a political star chamber used to entrench political policies of one party or the other. The citizen's rights and liberties are sacrificed on the altar of EQUALITY, SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS, GREED, and POLITICAL POWER. All the more reason to expose it all as it truly is.
