Mental issues and lack of intelligence are not the same. Ted Kaczynski was brilliant, and had mental issues.

So he thinks a man he has only seen on TV for short periods of time has mental issues. Great.

Maybe he means "football mental" as in lack of reading coverages and making bad decisions.

Tough to narrow down...doesn't matter we are drafting Wentz. Titans I heard are trying to auction off Wentz at #1.

I could be wrong about this, but I get the feeling that he was confusing things he heard about Cook and accidentally transferred them to Goff. LOL....

Their GM said he wanted a "King's Ransom" for the #1 pick. I've never heard a better selling tactic. rofl

OMG!, I am having flash backs of these discussions about small hands. Wasn't there like a 6 page thread one time on this? I remember some of it fondly, it was very hilarious. ooo

Went back again to look at Goff, since I am high on him I tried to watch games where they got beaten badly.

Against UCLA his oline got trashed, all game long. Tregg? didn't get separation at all he even dropped some catches with perfect throws.

Cons:

With that said, his arm isn't as good as Wentz from what I can see. He needs to cleanup some ball placement too, too many throws behind guys, even with backs in the flat, that is just not acceptable. Some of which comes from his line being trash, but still, no excuse for not hitting a check down in stride.

He looks tall enough, but he is slight in frame. The Pac12 isn't the NFL, he needs to ad weight. I think it does affect his ability to dig in and throw deep balls.

Pros:

With the cons said, his touch is by far the best in this class. He consistency drops balls over a corner and under the safety. It is truly a gift, I don't see many college QB's that can make that throw as consistent as Goff. Even throw over a dropped backer on a regular basis.

Shows a consistent ability to put the ball where only his guy can make a play. Fades, corner routes, back shoulder throws. He throws with excellent anticipation.

Shows NFL caliber mechanics and pocket presence. He slides, he senses pressure, he shuffles his feet and gets the ball out. With his oline getting blasted in any game where the defense wasn't awful, he kept his eyes downfield and moved his feet.

He is a lot more athletic than people are giving him credit for. I keep hearing about how athletic Wentz is, but Goff is equally so.

I think his NFL ceiling is hard to project. I hate giving him a guy like Drew Brees, who he most reminds me of at the college level. I think Matt Ryan is a good comparison but I like him better than I liked Ryan coming out.

Watch the designed QB run against Air Force and then say they are close to the same level of athlete. Subtle movement in the pocket, Goff's pretty good. Explosive movement or hitting the hole, it's not even close.

Didn't read through all the posts so not sure if this was posted yet or not. but thought it had an interesting part in it...

Jared Goff or Crason Wentz. I’ve been in favor of drafting Goff since the end of the season. The recent analytics study that found him to be the ninth best quarterback available in the draft since 1999 further cemented by belief.

Thoughts. My thought is that he'd really be excited being picked at #2. Picked #45 would likely have him much less excited.

Other than going to Cal, I don't get the comparison of Goff to Rodgers.

The NFL guy that I think of when looking at Goff is Matt Ryan. Then again, I don't like Matt Ryan as a qb.

I've been hanging around you too much. I'm starting to see Goff as Geno Smith and Wentz as EJ Manuel.

LOL.............nah, they aren't that bad.

I think 0, 1, or both can make it. I never had any hope for Manuel and Smith. I just think both have question marks and are risky.

Again, it's just opinion. I am not stating any of this as a fact, like I did about making reads or blocking techniques. It's really hard to evaluate college qbs.

I know Dalton has weapons all over the place in Cinci. That aside, who do you think is the better QB prospect coming out of college Goff, Dalton, or Wentz?

That's a good question. I wasn't very high on Dalton coming out of college.

I liked his mobility, leadership, toughness, and I thought his arm was fine.

I thought he was a tad short, didn't like his delivery, and had HUGE questions about how he would transition to the NFL because of the offense he ran in college. It was hard to gauge if he could read defenses or not. I alluded to that a little bit ago....it's the one thing that makes it so hard to evaluate college qbs these days.

I think I had a second round grade on Dalton. I have a mid-to late first on Wentz and a second round grade on Goff.

But again.........it's just my opinion and I am not drawing any lines in the sand. It's really hard to project how these guys will transition to the NFL game.

I think he might have the most upside of any qb in the draft. I also think he is extremely raw and it will take a couple of years to nurture him.

I have a late first to early second round grade on him. He's a really, really tough guy to evaluate though. It's all about potential w/him.

Again...........it's really hard to evaluate college qbs anymore. I just don't want to come across as sounding positive in my evaluations about any of them. I am wary of anyone who comes across as certain about how a guy will project to the NFL.

I am in the corner of not drafting a QB in the first round at all...if I remember you are not too hot on the QB's this year..unless I'm mistaken...baring trading back who would you want at #2? for me I am all in with Ramsey or Bosa...what say you?

Peter King of The MMQB reported what he's been hearing surrounding the Browns at the No. 2 overall pick:

Quote:

And you'll probably hear a different name coming out of the building every few days right up until draft day. If anyone in the building has a clue.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think we're trying to drive up the perceived value of the QBs either to facilitate a trade down for us or to entice someone to trade in front of us for a QB, so Ramsey/Tunsil falls to us.

I like Peter King, but he is terrible at predicting the draft. Whatever he predicts, I expect not to happen.

jc..

Concerning the draft, some things I believe...

...I hope the Browns never pick #2 again. The Browns need to take advantage of this draft position and address the franchises #1 need..a QB.

...I believe there are 2 QBs in this draft worthy of consideration and Goff is one of them...the other is Wentz.

...I view Goff as a more polished QB than Wentz, but that might be a result of Wentz missing 8 games due to a broken wrist.

...Wentz looks to have all the tools needed to be a franchise QB in the NFL and I would place him ahead of Goff in this draft.

The Browns would be a perfect fit for Wentz, with RG3 being the Browns #1 QB this year, which would allow Wentz the time to learn Hue's offense and not be thrown into the starting lineup right away.

Now, will Wentz be drafted by the Browns?...who knows?

Diam brought up a very good point, why would we draft a QB who's skill set is so different than RGIII? Just to teach them one system this year and turn around and re-teach them the next year? Unless our plan is to draft our QB this year and have RGIII as a back-up and try to make RG into something he's not (pocket passer). I just don't see it. Of course maybe there's another plan, I don't know.

RGIII is a wildcard. We are not basing our plans on him being able to run any offense.

Also, any offense Hue Jackson runs will incorporate some zone read.
