democrats don't need to show up, because honestly, there isn't that big of a divide within the party. people can get behind bernie or hilary.

i have an idea about why. This is just IMO, but honestly, the republicans have 15 people on one debate stage because the GOP has a massive image problem.
the democrats typically don't. We certainly have internal issues, but the general idea on how to go about progressing in the right direction for the country is typically the same across the board with dems. there's certain issues that we differ on, but ultimately, everybody knows how we operate.
the republicans.....it's a hot mess. they rolled out all these candidates, and really, they are all so different. you don't see any unity within that party except when it's time to call obama a muslim socialist.
and it's going to continue that way, because you're top two candidates are completely different, and then rubio is just.....man i dunno. then what would be typically good candidates because they are right leaning moderates in kasich and Bush, well...they are called RINO's, because understanding both sides of the issues, and being able to negotiate with the democrats is viewed as a sin worse than adultery.

What is a "gotcha"? I've never understood this term from the right side of the aisle.
All the garbage that could've been trotted out during the primaries is held back by the press until whoever becomes the nominee is revealed. Then-DUMP! All the garbage that could've taken out said nominee is revealed.
This is why Limbaugh accuses the liberal media of trying to pick the nominee on the right. Every person on earth knows what kind of a slug Trump is but they're not talking about that-now-are they?

Here's an angle on the GOP that I don't recall reading on this board.
It seems that the GOP began to fracture after that 2010 mid-term in which the Dems 'took a shellacking'... when all those Tea Party candidates were swept in. Dems took it on the chin- hard that mid-term, but some long-standing R's got pushed out, too. Folks who actually HAD worked with the other side of the aisle. They were all smiles the day after the election, but problems began almost immediately, that following January.
So now: establishment R's hate TP R's TP R's hate RINO's They can't trust each other enough to stop a renegade carnival barker from stealing the Presidential nomination right under their noses.
Here's the kicker that makes me laugh my ass off: I't's all because of Obama.
Had the Dems succeeded in nominating Billary in 2007, there never would have been a Tea Party uprising in the first place. No Tea Party: no split within the GOP. No split: no Trump to fill the vacuum.
Trump is a superthing now... because of that accursed Kenyan who took down John McCain and Willard 47.

It was the TP that gave the missing backbone to the GOP to hold Obama from only Doubling our National Debt in 8 years. They were sent to shut him down and didn't do a bad job of it.
If it wasn't Obamacare it would've been Hillarycare so the TP comes into being one way or another. Either way the GOP's inaction and acquiescence to every massive budget that came down the road did them in as much as anything.

I think it's great that John Oliver has replaced Jon Stewart as the pseudo-news, pseudo-comedian, pseudo-talk show host source of information for the left. I swear the right would do better if they had better comedians to show, in a comical way, what a lying piece of crap people like Hillary are.. because just laying out facts doesn't work.

In the 90's his show had some truly funny stuff. His stuff on the Clintons was worth a regular chuckle. As time progressed, the humor was replaced by "anger" (in quotes because I think it was more faux outrage than actual anger). By 2001, I was done with him. No laughs- no interest.
