JMHO - he was acquired to Mentor our Future Franchise QB...not play and win games for us. Almost all acquisitions by Savage have had a meaning and a purpose...that actually is what is setting him above and ahead of Butch and Clark. But Dorsey being here has had a purpose and function and the hiring of Chud as the new OC and Playbook is just Bonus points in his Acquisition and Function!
I think it had more to do with the fact Savage had to get something in return for Dilfer.
you are probably are right about that one...
Hunter + Dart = This is the way.

I know for sure of 2 teams last year that had the 3rd stringer touch the field out of necessity, that was Tampa and Cleveland
Actually, Dorsey was our 3rd stringer,, and I don't remember him seeing the field last year.. After DA went down, Frye came back.. Probably shouldn't have, but he did.

j/C.....
After reading these posts about the QB`s.....Smarts and physical abilities....It makes me wonder about the abilities of Rip Scherer....Three yrs with the team.....Has he been able to get the best out of these guys.....
I would love to see Bernie as QB coach.....He may be-able to get the performance out of these guys...That is needed ....

Ahh Deisle,, again, like I didn't feel it was totally correct to judge Charlie this past year because of the lack of consistent line play, I wonder if it's even valuable to look at the QB coach...
Again, I just not convinced that a better QB or QB coach would have faired much better given the circumstances... But that's just me!

"I am not saying Dorsey is ever going to be great, but if he went in and played, and the O was tailored a bit to his skills...I don't think the guy would be that bad."
Not that bad? For a game or two - Short term...he can get by.
16 games...sorry got to disagree - Like KH, teams would game plan against him as a starter and villify his weaknesses which are too many.
For instance right off the bat - I would game plan with a zone D rather than man. He don't get enough zip on the ball and my DBs in the NFL as opposed to college just have too much speed and closing time on that ball and will just eat him up.
But anyways - its a moot point and that is why I don't think he would be a preferred #2 - proof of point is look at last season. Anderson was placed ahead of him on the Go In The Game Chart. If that don't tell you I described him accurately what does?

It really wouldn't be that big of a suprise to see Dorsey kept around and Anderson on the practice squad.
DA is not eligible to be placed on the Practice Squad....he was on the regular roster for at least 6 games last year, and that is an "accrued season."
Players with an accrued season are not eligible....as I recall.
