Well Malik had that SB tax added onto his contract. I'm curious at our offer for Miami's Vernon who was transition tagged.
Pass rushers come at a premium. I would expect Vernon to get at least $12 million a year with about $20 million in guarantees.

youth and building through the draft are the right Every regime I can remember had the same philosophy. It's nothing new. We'll see what happens, but if the reports are true, the Browns are going to lose some of their home-grown, fairly-young, and better players and will replace them w/guys who aren't as good. That sounds identical to what we did the last couple of years. That about sums it up, so far. New boss, same as the old boss. Because the home-grown young guys we have aren't the guys of the new FO, though, they don't see it as we do - that they're simply letting solid talent walk. I fully understand what this FO is built for and around, and I could not care less what they do if it works and we start winning - but I'm not sold AT ALL on the idea that they're going to pull it off. I think that they're probably already screwing it up (judging off of what is happening with Mack & Schwartz). Treading water with the talent level while shedding the current free agents and replacing them by bringing in a bunch of guys that the new coach has worked with before.... the standard NFL recipe for a new coach's first year; and utterly stupid beyond belief that we have to watch this unfold yet again.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I'd like to have some attitude on the D side of the ball. I'll take a 15 yard penalty every couple weeks and some fines as long as the D is aggressive. Like Burfict?

The thought of signing Pac Man upsets my stomach. Similar to what follows if I eat alot of Mexican.
Pleaseeee, no. I understand people not liking Jones's past, but he seems to have really turned things around. Wasn't it last season where he ripped off Amaris Coopers helmet and slammed his face into the ground? Didn't he hit a ref or something too and got fined? Those are just two recent events, I'm sure if I Googled - there would be more. I don't see how he turned things around. May have tamed things down, but he's still uncontrollable imo. Again, no thanks. I'll take Tramon over him any minute of the day. I was more talking about the off-field issues.

Good .............any lineman signed makes one less player for Mack or Schwartz... I know some are Guards, I am just thinking about the total monies spent in relation to cap space

Holy poop: The #Jaguars deal for DL Malik Jackson is 6 years, $90M with $42M guaranteed, source said. So, wow. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/707288228538261504THIS is why a healthy player should never sign an extension. Hit free agency, get paid.

The Jaguars had $82 million in cap space going into the new league year. If there is a team that should spend, it is them. For perspective, they could absorb Jackson's entire $42 million guaranteed this season and still have only $5 million less in cap space than we currently have.

Be prepared to be crushed. Probably not, but it removes them from play, no matter how remote... I can even see a positive from the Jags paying an inordinate amount to Jackson the more they pay the less they have and the more selective they need to be. Crushed? nah I have never thought either would stay... I hope they do but am not counting on it.... and if they go...meh they just become another player in a different uniform and will not get a second thought from me. They gotta do what is best for them and I never worry about things I cant control.

I don't understand this concept as fact.
I've heard that we blew it cause we could have signed them both for around 9 mil a year each.
So now that we are not going ot sign Mack or Schwartz cause silly money is being thrown out there.
2 months ago? Really with the season ending and not having a new contract it was more than likely going to FA to see what they are worth.
Throw Gipson in there. I don't see anyone of our players signing 2 months ago of course that being their first week hired.
We have no idea what we have on the table for these guys. If we sign them to silly money 15 mil for Mack would be silly money 11 million per year is silly money. I seriously doubt we blew it cause we didn't sign these guys the first couple weeks these guys were hired.

Filtering unabridged shenanigans from the strip club to the football field isn't so much "turning around" than changing venues and downsizing said shenanigans.

But man, it's like you were glued to twitter for hours and then posting that stuff on here. I'm not much better..........it wasn't intended as in insult, man. I was watching an Oakland game last year and they were talking about how the team had improved.
The color commentator said he asked the GM what their plan was. The GM said that their goal was to acquire as many impact players as possible.
Think about what they did. They drafted Carr. They drafted Cooper. They signed Crabtree. They signed Smith. Drafted Mack. Signed Jason Tuck. Acquired Dan Williams.
I mean............they still have a ways to go, but they aren't putting out that same old story of "we are going to build through the draft and not spend money in free agency."

The fact that there haven't been any reports on Mack or Schwartz even talking to anyone (that I've seen) is a good sign for us I guess..
I can hope that if they get an offer from someone they might at least allow us to match/counter it..
Edit: After a quick google search of both guys, I see the Falcons have interest in both, while other teams have interest in get Schwartz as well..
I honestly expected them to be part of the pre-free agency "signings"
