Actually was pretty non violent, a few punches thrown but mostly yelling and shouting "WE STOPPED TRUMP!"

I think the college crowd has declared a "Save Speech Zone" in Chicago.

Trump said he shut it down because he didn't want to see anyone on either side hurt.

He said America is very divided today. 59% Black unemployment, people losing their jobs to China and elsewhere, everyone is angry. These are the things we need to fix.

What saddens me the most about this is that my Facebook is blowing up with how great it is from all of my liberal friends.

If this happened at a Comrade Bernie event liberals would lose their minds about how violent and selfish conservatives are.

The liberal lemmings are hypocrites.

Ben Carson has said these young people, when asked, don't even seem to know why they are here. He said their Professors are teaching them it is ok to use your right to free speech to shut down the free speech of others when you don't agree with them. This is wrong.

They were interviewing a young person who was holding a Trump sign and the kid said how very disappointed he was as he had a ticket and was looking forward to hearing Trump speak but the protesters began shouting and tearing up everyone's signs. He said they talk of hate yet they bring more hate than he has ever seen before. He said they are hypocrites and it saddens him.

What is truly very sad is that the protestors are probably the same liberals who promote freedom of speech (when it suits their needs) yet they shut down another's freedom of speech when it doesn't. Direct example of hypocisy at its finest.

I do believe this will strengthen the trump movement and these silly little people will look even sillier...except to themselves because in their eyes, they do no wrong.

They said,according to the associated press, "we want to shut Trump all the way down".

I guess what he said earlier is true. The protestors tried to shut him down, but it resulted in Trump having even more attention and media air time.

I see Cruz is talking it up on tv now and he sounds pretty sharp about what is going on. He says there is plenty of blame to go around tonight.
He says when someone who wants to be President and is currently the leader in the Republican Primaries, if he talks in terms of punching people in the face, it will escalate. We are seeing that tonight.

Trump just said there is a double standard in this Country and if the Conservatives ever march on and shut down a Liberal gathering, it would be a great National disgrace, it would be all over the News with the critics howling.

Many many of the protesters tonight said they support Bernie.

So where the heck is Bernie to tell them they are acting badly?

And even though I back Bernie, I know all you guys on here are good people and it pains me to see you guys slowly evolve towards supporting this stuff. Whe the GOP race started and Trump said some of these awful things you guys were as shocked as the rest of us. Now some of you are finding ways to justify it... that's much scarier than Trump.

The problem with Bernie is I cannot, and will not, support European socialism. It pains me that people want this. I have a good friend that is from Norway and he is baffled by the support of Bernie - he moved here to get away from what Sanders wants to implement and now he may be faced with what he moved away from.

It will be a sad day for America if somehow Sanders is elected. I don't think he will be as I hope that once common sense sets in people will realize what Bernie wants to do, and more so how he wants to implement it, is not good for our way of life.

The point I am at now is I really am not a huge fan of Trump, however if Sanders is the democratic nominee I'll vote for Trump (or who ever is the republican nominee). If it is Hillary and Trump I likely won't even vote for President. Essentially at this point, my vote will be cast in hopes of keeping Bernie out of office. I may change my mind, but as it stands now that is what I will do.

Donald Trump is the Johnny Manziel of American politics. Exclusion and separation has always been the staple of the south, aka red states.

And Sanders hasn't?!? He doesn't just use fear, but hate of success as well. Almost all politicians today use fear as a tactic.

I saw all the Hate I needed to see last night and it wasn't from the Trump crowd. It was those hypocrites who cry about hate while hating. Those hypocrites who cry about lies while lying.

A protester comes to Bernie's event and he lets them speak and then addresses them. Trump tells security to get them the hell out of here and if they so happen to get hurt on the way out, don't worry I will pay the legal fees.
Also, Bernie isn't talking about the hate of success. He is talking that the success is only for a select few because the whole system is rigged and nobody in congress is going to do anything about it because of the money in politics.

And I totally think that there are going to be many more nights like last night leading up to Cleveland and beyond.

Also, is Trump going to tone it down today when he addresses the protests and act presidential or is he going to call out BLM, Muslims, Mexicans-Cause the protests have been going on for a while and will get worse if he keeps egging people to punch protesters, etc. Trump sure sounded last night like none of this was his doing. Success is not rigged, that is pure BS. A select few? I suppose it depends upon your meaning of success - money? family? free time? Success means different things to different people - I myself am motivated by money. I'm not ashamed to admit it and when a candidate wants to take what I have worked hard for I get pissed.

If you ever take the time to get to know another human being regardless of color or race they want a better life for themselves and their families, and most of all they want hope. You actually probably have more in common with those folks then you would ever allow yourself to believe.

I'm proof that it isn't rigged. My brother is proof it isn't rigged. Countless others on this board are proof of that as well. Is it hard? Sure. Is it some luck? Absolutely. Is it possible? Definitely. will I be part of the .01? Probably not - it would be nice, but I'm happy with where I am now but will always strive for more.

I came from a very middle class upbringing - I never wondered what was for my next meal, but we were not rich - at all. I didn't even do well in school, neither college or high school because I hated it. I was lucky that I found something I was passionate about (not selling cars, lol, but I do enjoy working on them as a hobby) - software development - that allowed me to excel. My work ethic, no matter what the job, has always been off the charts. I've bused tables, worked on a concrete crew raising manholes and pouring curb, waterproofed basements (the WORST job on the planet as far as I'm concerned), took unpaid internships AFTER I graduated to get the experience I missed out on in college because I was working to pay for it, and continually busted my ass until I was able to go off on my own and start a company. There is no reason, IMO, others cannot do what I did - they are just told they can't and believe it.

Now, I'm not going to say that there are not issues that I never had to face if growing up poorer than I did. These have been touched on in threads about education countless times on here. The only exposure I had to inner-city education was my mom taught in Toledo Public Schools for 28 years. My dad went to inner-city Toledo schools (Libby where he was one of a handful of white kids in the early 60's), took 8 years to get his bachelors degree while working full time, followed by another 4 to get a masters. I learned work ethic from him, as did my brother. Role models are very important.




We'll see come November I suppose.


I know I have a ton in common with most people. I get along well with just about anyone - people who have met me can attest to that. I'm very easy going and love to help others (contrary to your beliefs of me are) - be it financially, mentoring, or just being there to listen and give advice.


There is nothing wrong with being motivated by money, but to some that makes me evil I'll live with it. Everyone needs motivation to accomplish tasks - that is mine.

A lot of the thought comes down to altruism. No one is personally attacking Columbus.

What many on the left think is that all Americans can do more for their country by giving back to society in some way, shape, or fashion. It goes back to JFK's "What you can do for your country" message in his inaugural address.

A lot see how Europe, sure there's struggles, manages to do things at a better rate than we do. I know the counter-argument then becomes "go move to Europe", but why can't we try it here?

Columbus, it's great you've got to where you are. Just not many in this country end up getting born into the situation you were in, or had the support to get themselves to where they are.

Many people get marginalized in this country, and it's by no fault of their own.
