The Browns should take a flier on him. At least give him a tryout. What more do they have to lose? They wouldn't have to pay him a ton, and he could teach the young WR corps a thing or two about running routes as a player coach.

It's obvious the Browns are purging the roster for a complete rebuild. There is zero reason to bring in a WR who will be 35 in November.

Maybe the dude they paid 9mil guaranteed to, you know, Dwayne Bowe. We can hope he's least helping the young guys factoring he's done nothing else. Probably not get much more out of white than we did with Bowe.

Not saying I wouldn't want to bring him in but the experienced/ mentor role can be filled by Hartline.

I don't expect them to bring anyone in a this point.

Bowe hasn't caught a TD since 2014. Shocked he's still on the roster.

It looks like we are purging, starting over, something we should have done 5 years ago IMO, I really don't look for us to sign anyone much over 25 years old, and I would not be surprised to see Joe Thomas and Joe Haden shopped around, I hope not but I see it coming ... JMHO

Miles Austin, Brian Hartline, Dwayne Bowe, that basket case from Miami? Been there, done that. Just say no to Rodney White.

Makes no sense from our standpoint, and really makes no sense from White's, either.

We aren't going to bring in any 25 year olds, let alone a 35 year old.

Yeah pretty much this. We're not winning anything next year and the more tail-end veterans on the field, the fewer snaps we have to develop young guys who could be around where it's feasible we could be competitive.

Did you join just to encourage the Browns fans to want the Browns to sign Roddy White? Seems odd. superconfused

And do you honestly believe White would be light-years more productive? At this stage, I think those two are only good for "locker room guys" and vets to share their experiences to younger crowd.

Expecting performance and production are, imo, out the window.

Yeah that's basically what I was saying. He makes a great decoy too, so when/if Gordon is reinstated he can get more catches i.e. Julio Jones

I'd rather have Taylor Gabriel as #2 if we're going to gut out another chance with keeping Josh. Teams will line up their weakest corner on White/Bowe, so it's useless even to want to use them solely as a decoy.

Not saying you're right, not saying I'm right - just an opinion. Pointless even dressing those WRs up.

I think I would trust White to catch the ball before I would Gabriel. Gabriel made some plays last year, but it seems as though I remember a lot of drops in crucial situations...

Gotta cause separation and get open for White to get a chance to have a ball thrown his way. My point using Taylor was that I'm willing to put almost anyone but White or Bowe in there lol.

No one. That's the point. We are talking about a tear down to the studs. These guys aren't looking to win any games this year. Or next year for that matter. Seems like another LONG term rebuild.

Who else would you target at WR? the Browns need players at every position, but it won't matter if Roddy or whoever else comes if they don't replace Schwarz and Mack ASAP... and whoever the QB will be might get sacked every other down if they don't get some lineman.

Marvin Jones "was" my target. It's clear we need to hit a home run in this draft.

Best indication that a WR is washed up? Even the Browns aren't interested.

So now that Bowe has finally gotten some playing time, and shown that he’s a better option than Gabriel, it raises an uncomfortable question in Cleveland: What the heck was Mike Pettine doing playing Gabriel ahead of Bowe all season?

The apparent answer is that Gabriel is 24 years old and Bowe is 31, and Pettine would rather give playing time to younger players to develop for the future. That’s all well and good, but if the Browns care more about developing for the future than winning now, why did they give Bowe $9 million guaranteed this offseason?

The uncomfortable answer to that question is that Pettine and Browns General Manager Ray Farmer clearly aren’t on the same page. Farmer wanted Bowe whether he fit in Pettine’s plans or not. Pettine wouldn’t play Bowe whether Farmer gave him a lot of money or not. That’s a serious problem. The coach and the G.M. don’t always have to agree about everything, but if they’re so far apart that the coach won’t play the G.M.’s big free agent signing, then the situation is untenable.

I said it last spring when the Browns put up footage of their receivers running corner drills, Bowe looked horrible. He looked like a 290lb TE trying to run a route. It may have been the slowest clumsiest corner drill I have ever seen from a receiver. I would have cut him after that first mini camp.

If you click the link it says he had 5 targets and caught 3. I guess that's enough to prove he's better than Gabe. tongue
