Libs want to see this as a contradiction. If the secret service was not saying 'no guns', there would be people carrying concealed. I can see the secret service's point, as I watched RFK get shot on the news when I was little. It just makes them less jumpy. Maybe I need to brush up on my laws? It's not JUST that the secret service is saying "no guns", it's that, PLUS the fact that QLA has a no gun policy. A no gun policy, to MY understanding, means even a ccw permit doesn't allow you to carry a gun into said place. Example: You're carrying concealed. You want to walk into your favorite coffee shop on the way to work. The store has a "gun free zone", or "no guns allowed" sign on the door. Legally, you can't carry your gun in there. Columbus, jfan, any other ccw (ohio) holders, let me know if that is correct in your opinion.

Given that the Secret Service says that there will be no concealed carry at either political convention, then I fail to see what the big "controversy" is.
Further, there are many Democrats who own guns, and have concealed carry permits .... and many Republicans who do not own guns. I don't think that the issue belongs to either party .... at least not exclusively to their voters.
This whole thing strikes me as "let's stir up something out of nothing".

Give it up fella's, Libs think with their Feelings, not their heads. You can't make them understand unless you tell it in some sad story. Now this is even FUNNIER! You're the one who screams the loudest about how every American should be armed everywhere. How you despise gun free zones. How unconstitutional it is. How everyone should carry a gun everywhere. Unless it's at a convention where some people who share your views may be shot?

I'm not reaching at all. That's exactly what 40 has preached for some time now. I think the entire thing is sad that he believes that, or at least he has said he believes that. But he has.
And I'm certainly not trying to indicate that all Republicans believe or state that.
But both parties have very fringe elements among them. And many who have been seeking attention and pander to extremists in the party when it comes to gun rights, have advocated that all people should be able to carry guns everywhere. They have spoken out against any gun free zones.
Now you are right that there do need to be gun free zones. And you are right in stating that there are laws that govern gun free zones. They have stated that no matter where you are, the only people that can stop bad guys with a gun, is a good guy with a gun.
But that doesn't change the fact that a lot of people rail against that idea. And they only try to deny that right when it suits their cause. It's a double standard at best and hypocracy at its worst.

It's because they are presidential candidates that are extremely likely to get shot. The good guys with the guns in this situation are thousands of security agents and $50 million dollars spent preparing security for the event. The need for guns is completely covered.
Seriously. Is that hard to comprehend?
The good guys with the guns don't prevent the first bullet most of the time. Gun free zones allow for spree killings. The first person would have gotten shot before anyone is able to subdue the shooter.
Seriously Pit. Seriously. Grow up.

I'm not the one you need to tell to grow up. Maybe you should address that to the people who say there should be no gun free zones.
I believe there's a time and a place for them. I think the GOP convention is one such place. Now that's my opinion on the matter. If you feel that opinion gives cause that telling me to grow up proves your point.
If not, your "grow up" comment should be directed at the people that, up to this point, have stated that gun free zones are wrong and there shouldn't be any.

But hey, that's what I expect your response to be. I've watched Trump enough to expect crap to be slung.
Where's 40 to explain his beliefs that all Americans should be armed everywhere? Maybe that's who you need to direct your "grow up" comments to.

ROFLing all over the place makes you look like a moron.
And did the gun free zone people talk about political gatherings?
No. It is always in response to friggen mass shootings which invariably happen in gun free zones.
Show me an example of people wanting guns in every conceivable circumstance.
You have constant immature responses and insults dude. That is what my grow up comment is about.
Take two seconds to write a single serious non-inflammatory post from time to time rather than the constant stream of lazy mockery.

Life is a two way street. I've been reading a lot of your slanted comments too.
No, I've never seen 40 make any exception for any place at any time.

This entire thing is hilarious!
We hear all the time how there should be NO gun free zones. When called on the carpet about it, the GOP doesn't want to back their own proposal.
They can get mad that they're being called out, but it's funny as hell! I agree, it is kind of funny. Suddenly, when them and their families are going to be in a large arena of highly charged emotional people... a bunch of them having guns seems like less and less of a good idea.

Pit, arch, 40, et al:
THIS is the exact problem with political demagoguery: it only resonates in the realm of the ideal/theoretical... and it never stands up to the vagaries of Real Life.
The Left is every bit as guilty of it as the Right is.
It's also why my views on controversial issues is rarely 100% black or white/left or right: I can envision real life scenarios where there IS NO ABSOLUTE ANSWER that fits every single circumstance.
40 likes to call folks like me "fence-sitters," but from my perspective, being 100% in the tank for ANY ideal increases the chances for 'egg on the face' moments that common-sense folks experience much less than their more rabid L or R neighbors.
Real Life is messy and complicated... and will always make fools of those who need 'Rules.'

I'm one who usually calls people out when they try to deal with absolutes. This is a prime example of it.

Well then you are right and everyone going to the GOP convention should be able to carry a firearm.
You've always said we should all be able to carry firearms everywhere.

I don't want an issue with you and would never come to you to fight, but you got me all mixed up in your misconceptions. I drive a ford truck, stand a little over 6' tall and weigh in around 250 lbs. I'm ex military raised in an era where a man could bust another in the mouth and not go to jail, when that other man had it coming.
I've been in more fights than I can remember, had my ass whooped and whooped some ass. So when somebody assumes that I'm some kind of kind of flaming nancy just because I believe a certain way and feel or say certain things on the internet, well then that person might be about to climb a tree that he's gonna need a mighty big ladder to get up in.
So when you make a snarky "little fellow" comment, I chuckle to myself because you have no idea. Now you might be ten feet tall and some kind of MMA master, but there ain't no skeeerd in the OldColdDawg's DNA. So I don't want trouble, but I'm never going to run from it.
