My guess is that Brian broke into both Johnny and Ryan's houses and changed the time for their alarm clocks to go off. Conspiracy Theory Alert... OMG we have a conspiracy theory here...

Hey, since Mallet overslept, does this now make Hoyer a bad teammate like it did when Johnny had similar issues? Let's just hope Mallett doesn't make Hoyer throw all those interceptions like Manziel did.

Let's just hope Mallett doesn't make Hoyer throw all those interceptions like Manziel did. That's just an odd counter accusation. Hey, I was just asking. I mean, more than a few people have called Hoyer a bad team mate around here, yet interestingly enough not a single person has put forth even a shred of evidence to support that. I was just curious if he was still considered a bad team mate because he yet again beat out a QB with a piss poor attitude.

I'm curious how this plays out. It didn't work here with a slow start. When Browns switched QBs later, offense caved. Pettine took a completely different approach this year. Who shows better success Houston or Cleveland?

As they say, if you have two starting QBs, you don't have any.Bill O’Brien on quarterbacks: I have to watch the filmProFootbalTalk.com by Josh Alper on October 5, 2015 ATLANTA, GA - OCTOBER 04: The Texans benched their starting quarterback for the second time in the first four weeks on Sunday afternoon when they put Brian Hoyer back into the lineup to replace Ryan Mallett with the Falcons ahead 42-0 in the second half. While there were obviously problems across the board for things to get that out of hand, Mallett wasn’t helping the cause by going 12-of-27 for 150 yards and an interception. Hoyer led the Texans to three late touchdowns while going 17-of-30 for 232 yards, which meant coach Bill O’Brien got questions about who would start in Week Five against the Colts. He wasn’t willing to make a commitment to either player, although he said the score of the game was the immediate reason for the change. “It was 42-0,” O’Brien said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I’ll have to watch the film. Again, we just made some substitutions.” The Texans replaced Hoyer after the first week of the season and Mallett has gone 63-of-124 for 622 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in his three starts for the team. The Texans play again on Thursday, which would usually leave too little time for a quarterback change but Hoyer’s prior experience in the top job could alleviate that concern when it comes time to name this week’s starter. Whoever starts Thursday, the Texans finding themselves in this position for a second time a quarter of the way through the season makes it clear that the Texans don’t have the right answer at quarterback on their roster right now. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...watch-the-film/

I think O'Brian has handled that situation miserably. He's said all the wrong things and benches a guy during the first game. He then brings that guy back during the 4th game. Ouch.

when a man is drowning he will grab whatever he think gives him a chance to survive. When all he has to hold onto are two broken and cracked logs he will do his best to hold onto both with one log always bearing more of the weight until it goes under until he shifts weight quickly back to the other log. Neither is going to save him and he knows that but he can't help but do his best to survive with what he has.
This coach knows he is drowning ...

This coach knows he is drowning ... There is always a spot for Bill O'Brien in the bosom of Bill Belichick. Especially because he will have an opening at offensive coordinator after we hire Josh McDaniels this off-season.

I agree... he should have left Hoyer going until about game three or 4... then make the switch if he wanted to... neither QB has looked good except in garbage time.

I could have told him Hoyer was horrible. Mallet was at least an unknown, turns out he's horrible too.

Yep, he was never definitive about who was the starter. He said Mallet to stay ready because he could come in at any time. Gee, that is a vote of confidence.
Then, he yanks the starter in the first game.
He then yanks the backup in the fourth game.
Hasn't announced a starter for the next game.
No qb can really play well under that situation and it also hurts the team because they are different types of QBs.
He's going to get fired. Watch.

He's going to get fired. Watch. Ryan Mallett will start again this week Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Sunday that he needed to watch film of the team’s loss to the Falcons before deciding whether Ryan Mallett or Brian Hoyer would get the start against the Colts on Thursday night. O’Brien must have had a movie night for himself on Sunday because he’s made the call. The Texans will stick with Mallett, who has started the last three games after replacing Hoyer in Week One. While O’Brien said that there are things Mallett “needs to do better,” the quick turnaround to Thursday wound up keeping him in the lineup. “Brian did a good job, but being on a short week, it’s important to stay with Ryan right now,” O’Brien said. O’Brien hasn’t had a problem making in-game switches at quarterback, so Hoyer may see the field if Mallett continues to play the way he’s played so far this season. A bigger problem has been identifying and acquiring a starting quarterback you’re willing to stick with before the start of the season, something that will have to change in Houston for the 2016 season. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/10/05/ryan-mallett-will-start-again-this-week/

I'm surprised that O'Brien mucked this up so quickly. I had the idea he was a more patient, cerebral type coach. He was one of the guys I hoped we'd hire when Chud was fired. IMO, his first inclination - Hoyer - was the right move, and he should have stuck with him for a few games. I agree that Pettine has handled our QB situation much better than BOB handled his.

I'm not sure how much faith can be put in Hoyer from good production in mop up time in a single game.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Him knowing he can be pulled if he messes up after already being pulled, IMO, will effect his gameplay really bad. Again, JMO, but I don't think Hoyer handles pressure very well, as he's weak mentally. How that whole situation has been handled though is even more weaker. Bad coaching decision making at it's finest.

Yep, so all of those who wanted us to sign him to be our starter this year can start their "we gotta get that guy" parade now.

Yep, so all of those who wanted us to sign him to be our starter this year can start their "we gotta get that guy" parade now. Many of the QBs people called for this off-season have been pretty bad. Mallett, Hoyer, Foles, Bradford, Manuel, and Cassell have all been bad to awful. Other guys like Fitzpatrick and Taylor are about as good as one could expect (same with McCown). Of the free agent QBs available I wanted Sanchez or Locker. Sanchez is stuck behind the terrible Bradford and Locker retired.

Note from @NFLTotalAccess: #Texans and QB Brian Hoyer appear headed for a divorce and both sides sound OK with a fresh start. He's available https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/714952152440053763Playoff QB and winner Brian Hoyer is available. (So is Vince Young. . .)

Personally... but I don't think Hoyer can handle competition\ pressure. JMO again, but he's the guy you want when your #1 guy gets dinged and you need a plug and play guy for a game or two, at best.
Hoyer isn't, and never will be, starter material.
