He said he wants to play more so what I would do as a coach is play him. Put it on the line with him tell him this is his chance let's see what you can do as a pass rusher our whatever else. Now it's on him to show us and make his case. As a Browns fan I hope he does well.

Mingo is a bust. I hope he does ask for a trade, though I doubt we could even get a handful of magic beans for him..... Another wasted first round pick. Time to cut our loss and dump him.

Are you sure about that? Is there another article out there? Because, I didn't see it in the original article on this thread. It seemed like both Mingo and his agent were asked direct questions that were intended to lead them into discussing his lack of playing time and whether he wanted to be traded or not.

I really believe that whomever wrote this story was trying to get them to say something that would get a headline. They failed, but people are still blaming the innocents here.

The problem is someone he is represented by is thinking about threatening for a trade.

My bad. I'm a moron. His agent didn't even say anything about it. I guess I just misremembered it. My bad. I retract everything I ever said on the subject, except that Mingo should be traded tongue

It actually speaks to a bigger picture. It's amazing how reporters can ask certain questions and use certain headlines and so many of us are fooled.

20# in one off-season ...... after being unable to gain any weight in his entire pro career?

Why do I see a steroid test in his future? crazy

That's one of the funniest comments I've heard in a long time. My eyes are actually tearing up.

If he did gain the weight it would be funny if it was all on his stomach. "You all wanted me to gain weight!" as he's eating a big tub of ice cream on the sidelines.

And all out of breath.

YTown said it... steroid usage looks pretty evident here. The one year he was publicly saying he was eating pizza and etc in heavy amounts and wasn't gaining.

If he did bulk up 20lbs, I wonder a few things:

Did he increase his weight AND power, or just weight?

Does he still obtain the speed and initial burst?

Honestly, why wouldn't he? I mean Cushing came into the league with that Steroid acne AND failed a test and got suspended but he's a better player for it. Mingo has to flash this year even if it's after a 6 game suspension if he wants any sort of deal next year.

"He told the Browns website that he frequented a pizza parlor in his hometown before reporting back to work with Cleveland and often ordered a pie topped with Canadian bacon, bacon, sausage, Andouille sausage, and jalapeños, but gaining weight remains problematic"

"It’s been really hard because I still burn it off; I can eat what I want,” Mingo said."

Derek Wolfe got suspended for PEDS. . . and then got a $40 million extension.

Do the PEDs.

thats who Mingo stayed with...Shelton. They those Sumo Wrestler Bowls in front of them for dinner!

Mingo...that one heck of a football name...I hope he has a breakout season. Hopefully he went to a Nutritionist and work out center. You can gain 6-7 lbs in the legs with the correct regimen...that btw is each leg. Hope he hasn't resorted to PED's not a good role model. Regardless of the benefits. No need to make a deal with the devil...he better still be explosive!

I saw Mingo up close at training camp his rookie year, and in my unprofessional opinion he sure didn't appear to have the bone structure to pack on 20 lbs of muscle. Hips and shoulders were very narrow, and he supposedly weighed 241lbs at that time (combine wt). You can't make your bone structure wider.

I think Horton will do a better job of taking advantage of Mingo's skills than Pet/O'Neil did. I'm hoping that we finally get to see some big plays from him. I also don't think many people realize just how athletic this kid is.

Barkevious Mingo Has Reportedly Bulked Up by 20 Pounds

By Chris Pokorny  @DawgsByNature on Mar 29, 2016, 7:56p
link

Well, you can forget about Barkevious Mingo moving to safety.

When the Cleveland Browns brought defensive coordinator Ray Horton back for 2016, he indicated that the coaches had a plan for the fourth-year linebacker, and that they would see whether he was up to the challenge they set forth for him. It appears as though one of those challenges was a commitment to bulking up. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Mingo has increased his weight from 240 pounds to 260 pounds.

Random tidbit of the day: #Browns OLB Barkevious Mingo bulked up to 260 pounds this offseason, up from 240. Make-or-break 2016, new coaches…

Offseason workouts for the Browns begin this Monday, April 4th. The Browns also published an article Tuesday afternoon, pumping up the "hybrid" defender's chance for a bigger role this year. What do you think, Browns fans? How do you anticipate Mingo's role changing with him adding 20 pounds?

All I can say, it's about time Mingo started working out...must be a contract year.

I think Mingo just burned his speed away truthfully, we can only hope that with the new size, comes new strength and power if we still think of him as an attack linebacker.

If not, then he may have ruined his coverage ability with the lack of speed, which was something he honestly excelled at.

I wondered this as well. Putting on that kind of weight ... what would it do to his speed and athleticism?

I remember when we drafted him I really did not know much about him so I was OK with the pick until my nephew told me he averaged a little over 3 tackles a game in college. His sophomore year was his best, he still only averaged a little over 3 tackles but he had 8 sacks in 14 games. Jr year dropped to 4.5 sacks in 12 games.

So I thought why are we drafting this guy at 6 overall who does not make that many plays. He obviously was very athletic. After his rookie year he reminded me of Cam Wimbley, kind of a one move guy the league eventualy figured out. I concluded that maybe the FO saw his "measurables" and hoped he would become a FB player, not just an athlete.

For a guy drafted to rush the passer he had 5 sacks as a rookie starting only 2-3 games. He has 2 total the last 2 seasons but was out with injuries significantly. Hopefully Vers is right and Horton will get more out of him,.

I hope the weight helps his strength. We could sure use all the help we can get.

Anyway you slice it and dice it, Mingo at 240lbs or 260lbs means little production as he is just too damn stupid to play in this league!

He shows almost no instincts and constantly over pursues and fails to hold his territory.

I will be shocked if Mingo is anything more than another in a long line of 1st round draft busts for the Cleveland Browns.

But drink the koolaid if you will wink
