Salazar was dominating. Tomorrow's a tough matchup with Sale (their ace) vs Cody Anderson (our #4 starter). Just need to find a way to win the series. If you want to play in October: win 2 out of 3 every series. Its as simple, and as difficult as that.

It's great having a #3 starter like Salazar.

Indians a game over .500 already? (last year the Indians spent the entire 6 month season under .500 until the last game of the year - October 4th (81-80)) Think I'll wet myself.

As Dave might say:

Chris Sale?

He only strikes out everybody and walks nobody (A 6 1/2 strike-out to walk ratio)(1.3 SO/inning)

Cody "Big Train" Anderson?

He doesn't need fancy stats like SO/9 or SO/W, or OP-Bat-Ave.

He's got intangibles.

Cody Anderson was impressive as spring training progressed.

We'll see if it carries over.

He bumped Bauer to the #5 spot. (and the bullpen, for now) That's pretty solid.

Tomlin's #5 in the rotation.

Bauer's stuff was excellent in relief yesterday. He'll get back in the rotation at some point, I'd imagine.

Another cold one today. Nice to see the Tribe's bats alive early in April.

quote above by YTown (in reference to Cody Anderson):

"He bumped Bauer to the #5 spot."

And Josh Tomlin bumped Bauer to the #6 spot.

Josh Tomlin had Ace quality stats last year:

W-L.............7-2
ERA.............3.02
IP..............65.2
SO..............57
Walks...........8

That's very pretty stuff.

Tomlin was incredibly lucky last year with average stuff. I'd guess he is out of the rotation at some point in favor of Bauer (unless the team decides they want a guy who just throws strikes instead of Bauer's maddening nibbles).

Tomlin needs to have Greg Maddux type command to succeed, IMO. The other night against Boston, the ump was squeezing Carrasco and Bucholz so bad that the strike zone appeared to be about a square foot. I was thinking it was a good thing we had Carrasco on the mound and not Tomlin. Even Carrasco, with his plus stuff, got hit pretty hard, but Tomlin would have been rocked with that ump's strike zone.

Well, Tomlin's ERA last year was great.

Upon further research I noticed he gave up 13 homers (in only 65 2/3rds innings or almost 2 homers per 9 innings)

Yes, he was very, very lucky.

Shaw came in, in the 7th with a 3-2 lead, and gave up a 5-spot. You could see it coming, because he fell behind every hitter he faced. He's not good enough to be pitching behind in the count.

Throw up in your mouth moment in today's game came when Tom Hamilton said that Chris Sale was picked #13 in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft, when the Indians took Drew Pomerantz with the 5th pick in the 1st round. GACK!

Final thought on today's game: stick your right arm out to the right, then stick your left arm out to the left. That's Juan Uribe's range at 3rd base.

Urschela, despite offensive struggles, really is our best bet for 3rd.

Urshela hit everything he saw this spring, 4 bombs I believe, and a bunch of doubles. He's also a good defensive 3B. I'm not that familiar with Uribe, but he looks out of shape. He's pretty fat. Its early, but I think I might rather be watching Urshela at 3B.

I think Tito wondered if his offensive pace could be sustainable at the majors. He had a rough go last year.

I agree, you could sense Shaw was going to implode. After Shaw was fortunate enough to get the second out with score tied, Tito should have made the call to the bullpen and put in McAllister.

The miscue between Kipnis and Napoli on the foul ball cost a run as well. Lack of communication.

It'd be a nice to take 2 out of 3 tomorrow, but Quintana has pitched well against the Tribe.

Cowgill at the plate = out

Some teams have already played 8 games. We've played 4.

MLB scheduling is really dumb. Why not just schedule cold weather teams to play in domes or warm weather cities the first two weeks of the season?

I don't know if I'd agree to do the first two full weeks, but the MLB could do that for the first two series easily. They had Tampa playing in Toronto last week in an opening series. I was thinking the Indians could have opened in Toronto and the Red Sox in Tampa. Done.

That wouldn't have fixed the canceled game against the White Sox that happened over the weekend though.

It's funny, the Great Lakes region gets to experience a few 55+ days in March asa tease, but once early April hits, it's 35-40 degrees for 2-3 weeks. I feel like that's the same every year. I don't remember going to a Sox or Cubs games in the past 15+ years where it was even slightly warm in April.

Also, why schedule Boston, who are only in town once this whole year, for the first week of April?

Makes rescheduling a mess.

Yeah, Uribe's on pace to reach double digits in hits this year.

And stolen bases?

Geez, Uribe holds the record for most garlic,,, Oh wait... that's bagels. Enchilada bagels.

I hold my breath every time Uribe has to make a throw.

Byrd has a career history of having lousy Aprils.

Can't wait to get Brantley back. He was 1 for 2 with a double last night in Columbus.

We face another lefty again tonight. Naquin may never get to play!

Like you said, it's very early in the season. It's a marathon.

The Brantley injury didn't help. An outfield with Brantley, Naquin (if Tito will ever let hime face lefties) and Davis will look much better. Chisenhall, bleh, will be back soon too.

Dolan's claim "small market", Shapiro bungled tons of drafts, Dolan's won't spend despite the large profits getting made by the team, etc.

That's how.

Hey! 4-3

As Dave would say: "At this pace the Indians will win 92 games"

That's 92-70.

Anybody buy their play-off tickets yet?

What a treat.

I get SNY - official TV channel of the NY Mets.

That means Indians baseball on my TV the next three days.

7pm, 4pm, & 1pm respectively (Cleveland weather permitting)

I get to finally watch Cody Anderson and Josh Tomlin. (and Kluber try for his first win)

Tough loss last night. At least this offense features much more resilience this year. Napoli's worked great as an off-season addition!

Good pitcher's duel happening today at the ballpark. Tomlin already with 6ks, and Harvey holds us without a hit.

Harvey was unhittable today, until he wasn't. He mowed down the first 13 hitters and then proceeded to give up 5 runs. Indians were up 7-1 in the 8th and then Shaw gave up 4 runs on 2 bombs. His ERA is over 24 right now; time to worry? Maybe. But Cody Allen came in and got the 4-out save, so its all good. We're 5-4, its Saturday night, there's beer in the fridge.
