its nice to know the ENTIRE DECISION won't be based off of analytics ... just wondering texas ... or anyone ...

WHAT % OF THE PROCESS WILL IT BE .... 5% or 75% ...

based off letting Schwartz and Gibson walk when were 40 mill (if the numbers mac posted are accurate) under the salary cap I'm going with its a WAY BIGGER % OF THE EQUATION THEN IT SHOULD BE ,,,,

seriously ... why did we hire this dude if it is not going to be a SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS??? ...

did we just hire a guy and pay him a nice chunk of change just to put another 5% variable into the talent end of our decision making process??? .. I think not ... and after letting the two youngins go ... I'M REALLY THINKING NOT!!!!

We can say whatever we want but honestly I don't think any number can be accurate. If all are said I'm sure one will be closest...lol laugh

What I understand is Paul and his staff will mostly be working on it as a tool for all to use. Hue in his game planning. Heck the NFL has been using tendency as a staple of game planning for a long time. Now we will get into in a depth never done before. But it will be there as a "TOOL" to use. I think it should have some input in almost all decisions out there. Not a dictated input...but as a collective fact.

jmho

my concern isn't in the game planning or play calling area .. I see where it has much better use there .. especially when your talking about a certain down and distance and a teams tendencies ... I am on board with that 100% ..

its FA that the analytics really scares the crap out of me .. and to a smaller extent the draft ...

this is a league based on TALENT as u well know .. and I just don't see this analytics crap working in acquiring talent .. MAKES NO SENSE TO ME ...

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2016/3/10/11194654/tashaun-gipson-browns-jaguars-winning-free-agency

Pro Bowl safety Tashaun Gipson signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, saying he wanted to win.

"You want to start winning. That's nothing against Cleveland," Gipson said. "I have nothing but love and respect for that organization and love for the city. But I feel like this organization is going in the right direction. It's a lot of moving parts with some good players in the right position."

“In this league, when you start getting to certain amounts of money, you begin to look at this is life-changing money regardless,” Gipson said, via Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. “But I guess it comes into play that you want to start winning. It’s nothing against Cleveland. I have nothing but love and respect for that organization and love for the city. But I feel like this organization is going in the right direction.”

there is a couple I guess I could put more if you want...sounds like wanting to play somewhere else to me...wanting to win and play for another team is wanting out. he chose to play for another team...thus that's wanting out. not a "i hate the browns and want out" kind of out, but wanting out none the less

Dang dude. How many times are we going to re-post those same two month old articles in one thread?!

Post all that crap just to make a one-line comment.

Well now that we know the moneyball man has the final say, I believe we have a better idea of what happened.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I dunno, maybe it's me, but I think when he says he "thinks" it should be 60%, vs. what it will be, is two different things. All this has to be discussed by the whole group. Chances are they will come to an agreement, where the Coach and staff feel comfortable and where the FO feels like the numbers support the rest.

Moneyball as a derogatory term. "Moneyball" revolutionized two sports already.

New ideas are scary.

You still didn't prove squat. You originally said that Gipson was quoted as saying he didn't want to play in Cleveland, thus the Browns had no chance of signing him. I still have NOT seen that quote.

Hey, Vambo is making things up again. How refreshing. Find ONE post where I said that.

Here is my take.....has been my take.....and will be my take.

None of us really know the complete truth. What we do know is all four guys are gone. FACT!

We are probably almost certainly correct in saying that the Browns are a worse team because of those losses.

Vambo..........please stop spreading lies about what I have said.

You still haven't provided a quote of me saying I said that the Browns didn't try signing any of the free agents.

LMAO................I'm picturing Vambo searching and searching and searching for just ONE post where I said that the Browns didn't even TRY to keep our free agents. He is becoming frantic at this point.

Meanwhile, he acted like it was a comment that mac and I made all the time.

I am not aligning myself with anyone. I say what I feel, some people agree with it, others don't.

No one can dispute that analytics transformed both baseball and basketball. They made player evaluation and team building more accurate. I hope they can do the same for us in the NFL.

Did I?

I thought I said that about Vambo. I will stick to that because I never once said [unless I said it once while totally inebriated] that the Browns didn't try to re-sign their free agents. Vambo acted like mac and I say that all the time.

I think what I said to you was to show me a quote where Gipson actually said "I don't want to play for the Browns." That's not calling you a liar. That's questioning your interpretation of his actual quotes.

Gibson said his decision to look elsewhere...

Looking elsewhere is what players do when they become free agents. That's what it's all about. While they are looking elsewhere there may also be negotiations with his former team to re-sign with them.

There is no way his comment can be interpreted as, "I don't want to play for the Browns."

According to Fox Sports, Gipson said during his introductory press conference that he chose the Jags because he’s ready “to start winning,”

that says he wanted out, leave whatever label you wish to throw on there...he wasn't staying here guys...that does not say in any interpretation that he wanted to stay.
