My point is that I'm one of the posters who do not trust Haslam. I don't trust his ability to hire the right people and I don't trust his honesty.
Hue was hired a week after DePodesta and the organizational hierarchy was not announced until after Hue was hired.
Does that mean that Hue wasn't completely aware of what the pecking order was in Berea? I'm not sure, but that possibility certainly exists. Are you saying Hue accepted the job not knowing who he reports to or what his job limits were?

I'm saying to both you and ddub that if you feel that Haslam is forthright and 100% honest, Hue knew exactly all of the details.
If you don't believe Haslam is 100% honest and forthright that there is reason for doubt.
I have my doubts.

I don't think Haslam is an honest guy.
I also don't think he is dumb enough to lie to a coach about his job description and face a breach of contract suit. Especially with all the other drama that happened.
I also don't think Hue was too dumb to ask the right questions in a job interview.

I don't trust Haslam at all, but I do trust that he isn't stupid.......a crook no doubt, but I've never taken him as stupid. Hue has too much experience in the NFL (and too many friends that are HCs) to have not asked the right questions.

We've heard the continuity message since Haslam's opening presser when he bought the team. How everyone would work together.
People still expect some of us to buy that BS.

The very idea of Hue taking the job knowing nothing about all of this is inconceivable. I agree. It's simply mindless blabber. Hue is a sharp guy. He asked questions. Our front office guys are sharp people. They aren't going to lie to the man and say one thing to get him signed, then do something differently.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Combine press conference Mac this is a really good presser from Hue at the combines and I think it says a lot about where things stand. It is very informative and this was the first time i got to listen to it in its entirity. Great, you mentioned Hue Jackson and completely derailed this thread. This board sucks.

so the narrative from this article is that Depodesta is power hungry, is in the middle of a power struggle and Hue was sold a bill of goods and was never completely told of the structure he would be working under. And Hue never thought to ask such poignant questions, and took the job without investigation

People still expect some of us to buy that BS. But him blowing it up again was bad, right? I mean there are a ton of reports out there of how the last regime did not work well together. So would you rather have a regime that did not work together or have Haslem keep trying to get it right? I know I would rather he keep trying!

So would you rather have a regime that did not work together or have Haslem keep trying to get it right? I know I would rather he keep trying! Maybe we should expect him to actually step up and hire the right people? You see, as long as the owner keeps hiring the wrong people over and over again, none of this will ever change. Within 5 years we've seen three FO's and coaching staffs. At what point to people begin to use the word incompetent? We're not reading a childrens book about the little train that could. So you go ahead and defend the fact he can't hire a competent staff that he can stick with and I'll keep questioning his judgment. That seems to be working well for both of us. BTW- ddub I never even so much as implied that.... The very idea of Hue taking the job knowing nothing about all of this is inconceivable. ...... Isn't anything close to what I suggested. What I said is that it's entirely possible that Haslam wasn't 100% honest and forthright with Hue. Those two things are miles apart. I have come to expect you to be a shining example to other posters. Not fall into a trap of their bad habits.

That statement could apply to 31 other teams at the time they hired the HC.

Exactly, it could. My intent was not to try to convey it was a situation exclusive to the Browns.
I have gone to several job interviews where the job wasn't accurately described to me. If you're a future employee that a company or corporation wishes to acquire, it's not unusual for them to inflate and fluff up the job to make it more attractive.
That's why I really didn't expect the backlash I received regarding my statement.

Good thing we stopped bickering. The thread has really taken off since then. Did y'all know it was the off-season? Did y'all know that there ain't a whole lot of crap to discuss? Freaking bickering is the most entertaining aspect of the board.

Freaking bickering is the most entertaining aspect of the board. Obviously, you're not speaking for everyone when you say that. I personally get pretty sick of it.

Sorry you left here so bitter, hope it wasn't all me, I don't even remember the issue so it was not that personal to me as in - I'll never forget and can't wait to get even.
